bicycle

Sunday, August 04, 2013

So hubby took the dog for a walk and I went along for the first time on my bike and actually rode for 35 min the first day, and 2- 35 min trips the 2nd day, getting better each day, I am thrilled! For someone who avoided all kinds of exercise and movement, this was a big acheivement and quite a surprise!..I now look forward to my rides each day..Along with logging every morsel that goes into my mouth, portion control and eating healthier, I am on the right track now.. So looking forward to getting out of the 300's,which is not too far away. After my cancer surgery in 2009 I weighed 369,... 200 lbs more then the day I got married..
but I lost some weight on my own and hen 3 weeks ago came back to sparkpeople at 338 lbs..My favorite quote" if it is to be.. It's up to me.. and not it is up to me to do this For ME.. emoticon

my new ride!

Naypooie, yes, it is a trike!
Jill313, thanks for the kudos and encouragement.. I feel I am really on the right track this time and I am setting little mini goals instead of looking at the whole picture. No, I have not read either book, I will have to get them, I need all the inspiration and help I can get..
everyone else, thanks so much for your posts, and for caring!

Hi Carol, I am so happy that your using your New Bike to get back to exercising. It does sound like fun as I loved riding a bike in my youth. You should be so proud of yourself as making changes can be difficult so good for You!! You're going to have many years of enjoyment on your new Bike!! So happy you joined our Team as I think you'll come to really like it like I do. Have you read the book, "The Spark" or the newest one, "The Spark Solution". I still re-read the first Spark book as it's always motivates me to try harder. Take one day at a time and do the best you can. It sounds like you've already started making healthy change, which I thrilled to hear. Continue to enjoy your Sunday.

Hugs,

Jill emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Its never too late

Sunday, August 04, 2013

I am back.. glad to be a sparkie again.. After some really rough obsticles in my life, I NEED to get back on track and lose this weight. So many medical issues have claimed my body since my last activity on SparkPeople that I find just walking a major chore, standing for more then a few minutes, constant pain etc.. If I dont do something, I will be wheel chair or bed bound.. It has comenot needeing a mobility scooter to get around stores etc.. I dont get out of the house very often and it is depressing.. I now have CHF and all the side effects with it, lower extremity edema(bad) , shortness of breath etc.. and being sedentary makes it worse but moving around hurts so bad.. I need to get real active on the message boards and not be afraid to reach out..
3 days ago I bought a 3 wheel bike, that has a pedal assist motor on it. WE recently moved into a senior mobile home park and thought what a perfect place to get out and walk a littie and meet people, instead of being cooped up in the house..WEllmost of the streets are hilly and walking was really hard, so someone suggested a bike, My balance being so bad, a 3 wheeler sounded like the answer.. I was petrified! I have not been on a bike in over 30 years and was not even sure that I could ride it. I went to a bike store and decided to try one first before even looking for one. The guy was so nice,, took me out on one, showed me how to turn on one( they can tip over easy) and basically helped me like one would help a little kid on training wheels for the first time. I was elated that I was able to ride it with out passing out!
