Do I really and truly want that potato chip?

Friday, September 07, 2012

I bought a bag of potato chips, because they were two for the price of one. Now, if I can be sucked into that type of trap, what about other people in the United States, who have a lot less Spark Education than I have???

Yesterday, I had about an ounce (170 calories) and they just tasted so yummy (with beer)

Today, I had another ounce with lunch, and they did not taste yummy. (with tuna sandwich)

Now, I actually just ate a few and even tossed the rest out. Had they gotten stale? Why didn't they taste so yummy anymore???? No reason to eat anything unless it REALLY TASTES GOOD. (if you think about it, not too many things fit that category)

Agree it's frustrating that it's cheaper to get a large fry than a salad and a healthy cereal like Kashi is twice as much as licky charms. But we can keep fighting the good fight. And if you haven't had chips in a while you might miss them--like an old boyfriend! Good to remind yourself why you broke up!

Good for you -- there was a post in SP the other day about a girl who thought it would be SO wasteful to just throw things out -- and then as she started thinking about it -- what is she doing to her body everytime she puts that food in her mouth --- whether it be healthy or unhealthy - if it makes your calories go up for the day??!!!! That was so thought provoking for me -- I don't want to throw it away but I'm willing to throw it IN my body???? Crazy.........

This is why I don't use coupons: they are always for stuff I don't want to deal with. Glad you tossed the rest. Just remember, they won't taste any better next time.

Had a .5 ounce of chips with my two slices of frozen pizza. So do have calories left for the day. :) What I hate is watching my hubby eat and eat the chips and then he weighs so bleeping light! It is annoying living with an underweight male and a teenage boy.

Potato chips aren't my poison, but I know what you mean. Feels good to eat only the suggested serving size on the nutrition label.

Feel better

Friday, September 07, 2012

I feel better so I finally went for a walk after a two week hiatus. I see the pattern now. I am slowly getting better, my mouth still feel burned, but only slightly, not as bad as a few days ago. My eye still feels dry, but is not hurting. And my energy is coming back. I wonder if drinking a lot of water really helped. I better try again today. The only problem is the excessive bathroom time, and my body is not good about holding urine when I sneeze!!!

If you are still not feeling well, its probably your body telling you that you do need to rest! Listen to your body!

Illness not a good way to lose weight.

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

For the last 3 days, I have had this feeling as if my mouth were burned, and my right eye really hurts on the right side of it. That feeling like when you were a kid and got a sty in your eye. But no sty. I am also so tired at night that nothing interests me. Wierd for me.

Made the mistake of looking up symptoms on the internet, and there is this strange syndrome some women over 50 tend to get. Autoimmune disease with body not producing enough fluid for mouth and eyes to keep them lubricated. No cure for it. At any rate, I refuse to look any more at the symptoms anymore, maybe they will go away. I am just going to take it easy. Putting hot compresses on my eyes, using Systane, taking hot bath, lighting candles....all this helped!!!

Only good part: food does not taste good when your mouth feels burned, so calories are lower. And, am increasing my water intake big time, thinking maybe that will help.

Hope you are soon feeling better Carol!
I used to get dry eye a lot, but since I started drinking more water it has been a lot better. It seems to come on when I am dehydrated. The Doc gave me eye drops at first which helped a lot. Please, Carol, go to the DR and get it checked out!
Hugs Ellen

Sunday Already?

Sunday, September 02, 2012

How can this be? I was just commenting on how great it was to start over on Monday, and now I see tomorrow is another Monday????

Another "self talk" I am initiating is when I am about to reach for candy, I ask myself, "Do I really really want this?" Often, the answer is no. I am reaching out of habit or boredom. If I am really badly craving chocolate, then it is okay for me to have it.

Note: As I have aged, I do not have the intense chocolate cravings I used to have when I was younger. In a way, it is sad. (if you really think about it)
