Experiment: I decided to put Spark's suggested menus on my tracker page, even though I do not intend to follow most of them. Seeing them will help me make better choices I hope. Spark is amazing to me that they give you so many different ways to set up a menu!!! Fun to play with.

Checklist for today:

Breakfast: 300 calories -- had 500, but it was Sunday morning
Lunch: 300 calories - had 356, wasn't even that hungry yet
4pm Snack: 100 calories
Dinner: 800 calories
Before Bed: 100 calories

Problem I foresee: those 100 calorie snacks are not very satisfying.

Hope this works well for you. The suggested menus don't work for me. I cook for a husband and son who are used to eating in the Southern tradition. I have made some changes but don't think it would be a good idea to fix entirely different meals. The changes involve things like using methods other than frying and trying different vegetables.

1. Did a Coach Nicole 7 minute workout.

2. Ate a 300 calorie breakfast, cut usual servings in half. Kind of irritating to do that, but I feel okay.

3. Ate a hard boiled egg to make up for it. Maybe it can keep me from starvation.

4. Cleaned underwear drawer. Got rid of too small bras (34DD)

Plan -- come back to Blog and check off if done

1. Do Coach Nicole ball workout

2. Walk to store to get longer cord for phone jack

3. Clear sub-basement so have room to store clothing to be cleaned out

4. Clean out closet of all but things I really wear.

5. Have 400 calories for lunch. 600 for dinner???? Save 200 calories for bedtime snack. That would put me at 1500? or did I do the math right? Have never ever achieved this, too hungry.

Know where you are at - been there - But if you do not EAT - you will not LOSE
Sounds weird but if you do not put enough calories in your body shuts down and you STOP losing. I trick my body by alternating my eating -

monday 1500
tuesday 1500
wednesday 2000 - 2500
thursday 1000 - 1200
friday 1000- 1200
back to 1500

I don't let my body get to comfortable with any one level I change it - you pick what days you want low and what days you want high. I plan my going out to eat or party on what my high days will be.

But do EAT - plus if you don't eat food becomes the only thing you think about and more likely to fall off the wagon.

Good Luck - know you can do it emoticon

Which day do we record for midnight snacks?

Friday, July 06, 2012

5% Challenge: So far, only one day that I stayed in 1500 calorie range, but then I had a midnight snack!!! Do I count it for Wednesday or for Thursday? If I count it for Wednesday, I have ruined my 1500 cal. goal. But if I count it for Thursday, I have already started behind the 8 ball!!!

You just cannot win.

I am going to try once more to stay in the 1500 calorie range today. New plan: report back here, besides the tracker. Why is it so hard??? I should not have made chocolate chip cookies the other day when I was bored!!!

Breakfast: 302 Calories

Lunch: 416 Calories

It is so hard sometimes! I'd say, for the late night snack, post it wherever it works best for you.

My food tracker only shows SNACK. How do you break it down into morning, afternoon and evening?

midnight is the start of a new day imho. Maybe plan a midnight "activity" drink a big glass of water, recite the alphabet assigning the name of a fun activity to each letter, hop on one foot around the living room, anything other than eating!

Skipping Breakfast?

Thursday, July 05, 2012

I have only had about 100 calories for breakfast for the last two days, but then I end up with 900 calories for lunch. Instead of 400 for breakfast and 400 for lunch. This calorie business is tricky. The psychology of it. I am getting better and better at weighing everything and recording everything. I am determined to lose 8 pounds by August 18.

You will do well, just continue tracking after chal#2 ends, and by the end of the whole challenge, you should have a pretty good idea on how it is done.

    Do you drink coffee?

If I'm not hungry for breakfast, I'll eat something little like a Luna bar and then put regular half and half in my coffee. I've found that the bit of fat will keep the growlies at bay!

My cholesterol is good, so I have no fear of eating egggs. I find I do much better with an egg for breakfast and 1 slice of crisp bacon. It comes in at about 200 calories with diet bread toast with Brummel and Brown and diet jelly. It stays with me much longer.

Have you tried a mid morning snack? I personally try to have a snack about half way between breakfast and lunch, then I don't feel like I am starving for breakfast and then overeating at lunch. I agree it is tricky to figure it out some days!

Going to have a healthy dinner: barbecue chicken, macaroni salad, green beans, and a salad. But beer too, probably.

We did hamburgers, with some 90% fat free patties with homemade barbecue sauce made from tomato puree with cheese and salads. Very good. Did it earlier in the day, so I can make sure and have the calories. Hamburgers tend to cause trouble for me.
