Slept until 8 am

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

I usually wake up at 5am, but when I woke at 4am, I realized, I just cannot take this sleep deprivation anymore, so I took an advil pm. That is why I slept until 8am.

My lifestyle is disrupted, in a good way, so I am eating strangely. A snack bar on the train, little bits at my daughter's house, yogurt at night. I just cannot track it, but I can track breakfast. I am keeping the habit up by at least doing breakfast, then when my life gets more regular, I can get back to tracking the whole day.

I posted a photo of newborn baby and me!!!

It's very understandable why your life has been disrupted (in a good way). Congratulations on your granddaughter. Don't worry about your tracker, just try to eat as healthy as possible for now. (((Hugs)))

Babies Galore

Monday, January 09, 2012

Did not even spin the wheel and it is 9pm!!! Went to daughter's to help out--laundry, vacuuming, entertaining 2 year old while baby nursed!!! Went on train, so it took 1.5 hours each way. But did enjoy myself catching up on magazines.

Spark will have to be on back burner, but I did track breakfast.

I have been very frustrated with the ads on Sparkpeople. Yes, I have pretty much learned how to tune them out, but many times they actually block what I want to do. I discovered a free program called Adblock, and it really works, not just for spark, but for everything. The computer programmer who developed it asks for a donation. And I was glad to give him some money for making my life on spark so utterly much better.

Even if you do not read the ads, they hit you subliminally. I resent that. I would pay spark to not have ads, and I even asked them about it, but they said no. Pandora is a great music program that you can get free with ads, or you pay without ads. I think all these computer applications should have that option.

I'm sorry they bother you. I usually have the ability to block them out.

Any free sight has this same problem, and I agree that an option might be a better way to pay for their service, but I'm not sure the advertisers would agree.

I sometimes play on the site "POGO" and I finally did join to avoid just what you say. Thanks for the info on the "blocker" too.

I agree with you that giving an option would be nice for those who are bothered excessively by the ads.

Projects 2012

Saturday, January 07, 2012

I have lots of exciting projects for the new year!!

One thing is to learn to use a GPS. After getting lost in Walnut Creek, being anxious about my daughter in labor, well, it is time for me to learn this device.

Another is to learn to use my camera. it has all these dials on it that I never use. The photos of the kids were coming out blurry when they move.

Even though I did not track for 3 days while at my daughter's house, it came back very easily to do it this morning. And even though, I can "eyeball" the amounts now, I know which dish holds one cup, which holds half a cup, I think it is wise to continue the habit of measuring, so that I don't slip up. It is so easy to slide. To think, oh well, I can mound up extra in this bowl, and before you know it you have two cups of ice cream instead of one, (when really you should only have a half!!! ha ha)

Your goal to learn to use your camera cracks me up. I taught H.S. photography for many years, starting with the darkroom and film and ending with digital cameras and Photoshop. When confused, pass the camera to someone 15 years old. They'll have your problem solved in no time. Camera manuals are dense and may as well be in Latin. Teenagers "get it" with technology! I learned everything I know about digital cameras from the kids! LOL!

Great goals. I have gadgets I can't figure out how to use either. Maybe I should learn how to use my food scale. LOL I'm proud of your accomplishments. Keep up the good work. Never give up and never compromise.
