Consistency Award!!!

Tuesday, December 06, 2011

I have been consistent with going to Spark every day.

I have been consistent with not eating within my calorie range.

Very consistent with that.

I keep changing the range, upping it, yet I still cannot stay within it. emoticon

I have logged in each day.

--I have tried to do extra exercising, especially trying to keep up with other team members.

--I have also added 5 more minutes (each time) walking on the ellipical 'cause it hurt my knees too. I can now do a mile on it faster than on the treadmill.

--I have tried to drink more water, morning and afternoons.

-- I have tried to add more veggies, and less tempting snacks.

I have lost 0.5#s in the first week.

I believe for the Consistency Award from SP you do not have to log in every single day -- perhaps 95% or above?? Not sure.

But consistency is what pays off in the long run, because if you are not consistent, the damage caused on your "bad" days will usually overcome the results of your "good" days! A hard fact, but true!

I have been consistent with logging in every day and consistent with the food tracking.

I broke the 140's at my weigh in and am now in the HIGH 130's,(139.8)

How to make suggestions for spark improvement

Monday, December 05, 2011

I can't figure out if there is a place to go where suggestions will be heard by someone official at spark. I have three:

1. Update the trivia questions, or add to them, they are actually very good, so keep the ones they have, but add.

2. All calorie counts should have oz and grams. Right now some have both, some have one, some have the other one. I am weighing my foods and it is easiest to keep to one unit. I find grams are best because everything goes by 10s.

3. People should not post recipes, and for sure spark should not, unless a serving is defined by weight. When you say 1/6 of a fruitcake, well, who knows how large that fruitcake is???

I have gotten in touch with the powers that be, although at the moment I can't remember exactly how I did it. One time I had started a Team, then after giving it a good try, decided that it just wasn't working for me or the members who had joined. I needed management's help to delete it. And I did reach them, and they did help me.

Did some experimenting. Went to Community Home and clicked on Community Message Boards. On the right hand side of the page it has this message: "Post your questions on the message boards where our experts will find it."

I believe this is the answer to how you can contact them.

I had a question once, and I clicked on the HELP tab at the top of the page where you log in. I got a direct answer.

BTW, I only average 76% of the Trivia questions correctly, so give me a break! I need to memorize the current answers first before they upgrade! LOL.

You could maybe try clicking the community button and going to the message boards, there is one for site/technical help,if you post your question there someone may be able to give you an answer.

Trivia and babies

Sunday, December 04, 2011

Everyone gets used to foods tasting a certain way. I just read where the fetus tastes the foods the mother eats and develops food preferences that early in life. (maybe taste is the wrong word here!!!) My daughter is pregnant so I tune into info like this!!! Hey, this would be a good question for the trivia game. They need to update it, I am seeing the same questions again. Now I know how people get 100%

I think it is probably true that the baby can "taste" the foods that the mother eats, and while that child may not necessarily like all that it tastes, I'm sure it is still developing preferences. I do think that infants and young children do tend to like the foods that they eat at home and that carries over to when you are adults. You see it in your husband -- he usually likes the foods his mother made (unless she happened to be a horrible cook). lol

It is the same thing as playing classical music when you are pregnant -- the baby begins to form preferences -- you tend to like what you are used to.

Wow, really? The only reason I would question that is comparing my food preferences to my mothers...they are worlds apart, almost exact opposite, lol.

And the trivia success...I do horrible so I was wondering also how so many did so well. I feel like a big DUNCE some days! Now I feel better if they repeat! Thanks for the info!

Taste Buds Rule

Saturday, December 03, 2011

I have to face the fact that I really like good food, or food that tastes a certain way, and if I make a diet Spark recipe and it does not appeal to me, even if others rate it as great, well, that sets me back, because then I feel sorry for myself and splurge on my favorite foods. I think I may be a "super taster" or something, have more taste buds than average, because I am very sensitive to subtle nuances of flavors.

Finally I think my taste buds are changing some. I still like comfort food, but have cut down on the portion size. Also, I keep chocolate all the time, but I may go a day and not eat any.
There are some foods that I still eat, but I watch the amount.

The fact that we all like "good food" is probably why most of us are here on SP! Keep trying - I have found SOME recipes that are really good. vista

I am "addicted" to Penzy's spices. I frequently will use one of the ethnic type spices which changes the taste etch time -- Indian, Jamician, Mexican, etc.)

I think I have just gotten used to the food I have eaten all my life, therefore something different doesn't taste as good to me. I am trying real hard to learn to eat foods with a different taste. Good luck with your journey.
