Day 3 of Meal Plan

Friday, October 21, 2011

Of course, I did not do the dinner meal plan last night because I ate dinner with my fiance. (fiancee?) His eating style is so different from mine, meat and potatoes, less vegetables, no wonder he has high blood pressure. I never was a meat and potato person, so luck is on my side there, but I am a big cheese person, and cheese is probably just as rich as meat.

Still, I am pleased with my food tracker for yesterday. So, I just printed out the meal plan for today, and I plan to follow the plan!!! But, of course, I substituted items. Spark gives you ideas of what to substitute, sort of like weight watchers. Also, you can use your own judgment.

I have also walked three days in a row. I am still somewhat ill, though, my voice just will not come back to normal, so I am sucking on these lemon drops, sugarless cough drops, and drinking all that tea with lemon. I am laughing at myself because I am even tracking each lemon drop that goes into my mouth.

I am gradually starting my strength training and balance program. Yesterday I did three "airplanes" (from Spark) Very hard, but good for the balance to prevent future falls.

How is everyone else doing?

Your doing Great! So proud of You. I am continuing with the Blood Type Diet- the Swami-phase of it, which is a personal life style change for me, my health, my families health, my genetic background. It is working well.

On a roll

Thursday, October 20, 2011

I used Sparks meal plan for breakfast and lunch, and really it was too much food!!!! For dinner I will have a regular dinner, but maybe I will do the substitute thing with it. I feel very good about all this.

I think it's great that you're combining the SP meal plan with your own dinner options. It's the best of both worlds. I haven't looked into the meal plans, but I think I will. Thanks for commenting on it.

Have a good evening.

Spark Meal Plan

Thursday, October 20, 2011

What keeps me going with Spark is discovering new things all the time with it.

I never knew about these "meal plans" and at first, they just looked stupid. But then I discovered you can substitute items on the plan, customizing it. Also, you can eat all your own stuff, too, if you want to. The meal plans are actually a helpful guide for the day.

Yesterday I strictly followed the meal plan for breakfast and lunch. It was fun to make a spark recipe (well, I made two) I am stuck home anyway because I cannot talk. (when will this laryngitis ever go away?) So, I had the time to fiddle around with it.

I was really surprised. I was not hungry, yet my calories were within my range. It rather amazed me because when I eat my own way, I am too hungry. I also tried to be really strict, even recording the lemon drops I was sucking on for my laryngitis!!!

Some people like to have recipe plans (witness all the 365 day cookbooks, or full meal cookbooks out there). Spark also has shopping lists to make it really easy. It really does work, doesn't it?

Spark makes sure that you get all the correct nutrients, fats, proteins and carbohydrates in their meal plan so that you feel full. This keeps you from overeating or binge eating. Don't forget to snack healthy snacks in between meals. Fruits, raw vegetables etc.

Goal just for today

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Not sure I am setting goals correctly. Today, Spark had an interesting article on this topic. Why do I set goals if I am not going to follow through? Okay, I am going to try once more:

Today

Eat according to the Spark meal plan. Just try it for once. Have the day's food planned ahead of time.

I have read the SP article on goals and it IS quite good! But sometimes we set goals that are either too restrictive or too vague. I could never follow the SP meal plan -- has too many things I don't like!! If you like the stuff then good for you!
My goal is to do better today than I did yesterday!

It's easy to set the goals, but difficult to always meet them. I think you need to be somewhat flexible and forgive yourself if you're not 100% successful every day. It's a process and journey. As long as your making progress, that's a good thing!!

Extra cookie

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

A neighbor just came by with a healthy oatmeal and flax oatmeal cookie!!! This is so hard, I mean, food is a glue for society. I am not going to reject a neighbors cookie because I have been overeating when I am alone. A person really needs to plan to eat less, to leave room for social eating.
