More on iphone

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Well, I was making fun of all the young people with their smart phones, too, but let me tell, the thing is revolutionary!!! It just makes everything easier in my life, and getting older and forgetting things, well, it really helps me. A Lot. It is all how a person uses it. I would never whip it out at a restaurant or anything like that. I can do another blog on the way it has actually improved my life.

App for iphone

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

I am on a roll. I found an "app" for my iphone that I would like to shout about from the house tops. It is called "Map My Tracks." Cost 99 cents. What it does is give you the time you walked (or biked, or ran) and a map of where you went!!! It even pauses when you do!!! At the end it tells you the elevation change (very important for me, I live on a hill) and also the calories used.

I do have a pedometer, but this thing is a pedometer on steroids. I love it.

Monday Morning

Monday, September 26, 2011

My best energy is in the morning, and my computer room is a total mess, with bills lying underneath letters... lying underneath notes to myself.... lying underneath junk mail.....lying underneath my camera!!!

Instead of cleaning this all up while I am fresh and alert, I am playing around with Spark!!!

I should go for my walk RIGHT NOW!!! Then take a shower, then clean up my my computer room. Also toys are strewn about from my last babysitting gig.

When I am overwhelmed, I like to set a timer and then work at a job for x number of minutes. then I reward myself with a book for a set time. I figure I can do most anything for 30 minutes or so.
Take just a bit at a time and you can do it!

Weight Lifting

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Because of the 5% challenge, I did weight lifting yesterday. (3 pound weights) I could tell that I actually did something with my body for once. I was not sore, but I could tell I had used my muscles, whereas in the past, I felt nothing.

It only took about 20 minutes, so why have I been so lax with this? My goodness, I spend about an hour or two just playing with the computer!!!!

I love the way my body feels, when I keep up with the weight lifting. Everything is so much more toned. Keep up the good work!

to my new SP Carol!!!!!! That's great news...I'm going to put mine by the chair I sit in to watch TV (which isn't often - so I prob. should do it while on the computer!!) and use them. Makes more sense there than beside my bed!!

You just gave me an idea, I am putting my weights next to my chair in the living room and another set by my computer. So I see them, and lift them more often. Thanks, Linda

emoticon I am so excited for you! Thank you for the goodie and for letting me know I helped motivate you. In the class I teach, our motto is if the reps are too easy it's time for more weight. Please let me know if you'd like the url address for the Strong Women web site.

PS. I agree words are very powerful!

Challenge

Saturday, September 24, 2011

Am starting the 5% Challenge today. Hopefully, this will help me focus better and remember to both exercise and measure my portions of food. The weight training has not gone too well, I keep sluffing off (is that a word?) and actually it is the most important part of the program for me because I got a diagnosis of osteoporosis and I am hoping to reverse my bone scan numbers in one or two years.

Carolee, I teach a weight training class called strong women. It's amazing the difference even one 12 week session has made for the women with an Osteoporosis diagnosis. I know it's difficult, but hang in there and bear with the weights. emoticon

Some days are more difficult then other, but we get through them, and we do all we could for that day.

Measuring cups, Measuring Spoons and a food scale all helpful.

Putting foods into portion sizes, into zip lock bags help also

Fill you plate, look at it ask yourself is this going to help me or hinder me, make adjustment and enjoy!

Hugs

I am also VERY BAD with exercise. Walking around and around the pool is about it these days. Water too cool now, so closed the pool down for the season.

Hang in there - you can do it! vista
