A Breakthrough

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

I had a big breakthrough today. There is a burger place we always go to, that has just great burgers and fries. Tonight I ordered a veggie burger on whole wheat bun, and coleslaw. This was a hard thing to do, and it all was good. (I was very hungry, which helped!~)

Good for you for finding a place that serves good ones!

Spark Running Slow

Monday, August 22, 2011

Spark seems to be running slow right now and so am I. I just do not feel motivated to get out and walk. That 500 calorie breakfast really put me off my schedule and I am not hungry at all right now and it is lunch time.

The site must have tech problems at times. It does run slow just at certain times. Maybe they are working on it.

Push-push; prod-prod. Get out there and walk. You'll be so proud of yourself.

This site has been slow for me, too. Plus pages "freeze" and I have to restart. It drives me crazy!

Monday, a great new day

Monday, August 22, 2011

This morning I made up a practice nutrition tracker day to see how I could ever possibly get the huge amount of fiber that is recommended. From my calculations, I see if I increased the fiber, it would be much harder to go over the calorie limit. Also for the calcium, just one cup of milk and 2 cups of yogurt a day gives enough calcium without resorting to supplements.

Goal for the day: get the fiber and calcium requirements through foods.

It is a new day, a new week, and I can get back on track.

I almost always get the fiber I need by starting out the morning with a cup of Kashi cereal or Shredded Wheat. I ONLY use whole grain pasta (once cooked, the taste and texture are good!), instant brown rice, whole grain breads. Check for fiber on the bread package and buy whichever has the highest fiber that doesn't look like a loaf of bird seed. My dh and I both love whole wheat English Muffins. When all else fails, add a bean side dish to supper. Beans leave me, um, "unsociable" even with Beano, so I eat them in the evening or when I know I won't be leaving the house. When all else fails, there's always Metamucil. Good luck with your goals!

Isn't funny how we always meet our fat goal? LOL.

Guilt

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Just got back from overnight babysitting gig at my daughters. It was fun, but out of my routine. Then I talked to my mother and she sounded so sad, and I felt annoyed because of all these demands on me. I feel guilty.

What else is new?

You are definitely in the "sandwich" generation...the meat that fills the rest of the needs.

Guilt is part of that. We only have so many hours, and things will get neglected from time to time.

Remember, you're only one person and I can see that you're a very devoted daughter. So stand tall and be proud for that.
