New Approach to Exercise

I tend to get going TOO much with exercise routines and before I know it, I have pulled a muscle and I can;t do any workouts for a week. Now I am starting to do some exercises in a chair which include a warm up, stretching and then strength exercises for the core. This is a great workout to do on a day when I am taking a break from my more vigorous workouts.

Plan to do aerobic exercise 4 to 5 times a week, vigorous strength trainging 2 times and these easy chair workouts on two days WHEN I DO NOT OTHER KIND OF EXERCISE THAT IS VIGOROUS.

I want to find ways to exercise for ten minutes if that is all I have. I can go up and down the stairs a few times and then run around my basement. GREAT exercise.

When I eat healthy, there is a bounce in my step and a smile on my face. That is because I know I am being good to myself and that gives me a feeling of hope. When I am NOT eating healthy I feel depressed because I know I am not taking care of myself.

Listening to Your Body When You Exercise

I am finally understanding that I have to listen to my body and not push myself too hard when I exercise. After several injuries, I am finally getting it: having to accept that I can do a great workout, but as I am in my seventies, I cannot work out as I did when I was thirty five. As I listen to my body, I find that I am able to workout more consistently, as I do not hurt myself and end up having to take a week off from exercise.

SPRING IS HERE and I am going to change my workouts by getting outside more. I usually walk on a treadmill which is great, but I do not go up and down any hills and there is little variation. I need to walk outside.
