Been Away

Monday, October 06, 2014

Have been away. Now I'm back. I've maintained my weight for the most part. Gained back about 3 pounds. Had to stop running due to arthritis in my lumbar spine. That set me back mentally. Running has been my grounding, my zen. But I can walk. Trying to get into yoga thinking that will help my back.
Anyway, decided to come back to where I started. Have missed y'all!

Welcome back! If you can- try swimming. No impact. I've become addicted to the water!

Re-evaluating and Slowing it Down

Monday, February 25, 2013

Since Christmas I've really been putting a lot of pressure on myself to loose weight faster, push harder when running, eat less. It was wearing me out! So I've backed off. I've extended my time to target weight from this summer to September. I've decided I'm not going to run the half marathon in April-I'll find a shorter race to run. I feel like a million pound weight is off my shoulders!!

Time for Reflection

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

It's that time of year-time to reflect on the past year and plan for the new one ahead. This year has not been at all what I'd planned for a year ago. But that's okay and good. I hadn't planned to take my health seriously and try to get in shape. I for sure hadn't planned to start running again. But here I am running 15-20 miles a week and 46 pounds lighter. Excited by the potential of the new year. Excited by my progress to reclaim health and fitness. Excited and thankful for the wonderful Spark Friends I've made.

Spark has indeed been a great resource! Congratulations on your progress! I've also been dealing with arthritis, and getting this weight down is important. I may feel stiff and achey first thing in the morning, and have to argue with myself to get on my exercise bike, but the spirit usually wins over the flesh, and the body feels so much better for it after. I may still have joint replacement/reconstruction, but keeping active will make recovery that much faster. Let's go, us! Blessings on your journey to a healthy lifestyle!

Catching Up

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

So it's been over a month since I blogged. It's been a good month overall. Spent last week on the sidelines due to a cold/allergy/sinus/respiratory thingy. Though I resented the heck out of having to miss a week of running, I honestly think I'm better for it. I've never been one to listen to my body, so learning and using that skill last week gave me a little bit of confidence that I'm really on the right road to health and well being.
Today's a running day-goal three miles. I'm still wogging, but walking less and jogging more. Progress-I'm seeing progress.
The Sam's Sprint www.samssprint.org/ 5K is the 29th, and I CAN. NOT. WAIT!! emoticon

Running...

Sunday, July 29, 2012

I'm so excited to be running again. Well, actually wogging. What is wogging? It's what I call walking/jogging. Just easier to say. And kind of describes what I think I look like while jogging! emoticon Kinda gross to think of all my jiggly parts, well, jiggling for all the world to see. But, that's where I'm at so I'll keep on wogging. emoticon

Wogging, I like it!!! I do it too, I think I rwogg. I usually start out running, then I jog, then I just walk. Of coarse I haven't done it lately since I'm waiting for blisters to heal up a bit. I do hate running as you know (mainly because of my upper "jiggly parts"). I am gonng do it some more though, Luckily I will soon have access to a free walking track and treadmill, so that will be nice :). You are ROCKING it girlfriend!!!
