The summer is winding down and wrapping up!
I have never been this dedicated to weight loss. I was always in a healthy range, never satisifed with how I looked but not motviated enough to change it. After babies, the weight would come down through breastfeeding but never all the way down. I tried sparkpeople before, but lost momentum pretty quickly and left after losing 6 pounds, maybe I did a month?
Now, I have been actively sparking for 2 months and a week. I have maintained my goal of burning at least 4600 calories per week and exercising at least 90 minutes a day on average. Most weeks I have been able to push past 5000 calories. And almost every day I have biked at least 10 miles.
Through this dedication, I have lost 19 pounds and 4 dress sizes! My size 18s were getting tight before I started, and now I am wearing 14s, and starting to squeeze into 12s. I have 23 more pounds to go, and hope to be a solid 8 or 10.
Also, my stamina is so much higher. I used to have to walk my bike up certain hills, now I can get up them in the higher gears! I am sure that I haven't tackled every hill yet, but there has been serious progress.
On a completely unrelated note, a peregrine falcon just landed in our front yard! I have finally realized my dream of having active bird feeders on my front porch, and we have a lot of visitors, mostly black capped chickadees. The other day I read in a book that sometimes falcons or hawks will visit and you should take that as a compliment because it means you have a healthy bird population. I live in an urban nieghborhood on 1/10 of an acre, so I never thought they would visit here. My hubby had taken a walk last week and had seen one, so that kind of got my hopes up. Just now, I was sitting on my computer and my son was watching the birds out the window. A flacon swooped down and tried to land on the feeder, then landed on the fence next to the window. It sat there about 5 minutes and we were able to get pictures of it! It was really awesome!
