The FLEX Diet, by James Beckerman, MD

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

I decide to try the flex diet by The FLEX Diet, by James Beckerman, MD. Beckerman divides the diet into three stages: Today; Every Day; and Your Way. The idea is that the plan is totally flexible and adaptable, so that you can create your own plan - one that fit you. There are 200 different Solutions listed in the book (scientifically valid things you can do to help you get in shape, be healthier, and maintain your momentum and motivation), and he explains each one in detail. But you don't do everything all at once, either. That's why there are three stages.

clearly I am on "Today."

So, what's "Today"? It's two weeks of making tiny changes to your habit, incorporating a few new ideas, building a support system, and other things like that. There are 31 Solutions listed here, for the today stage Here are the Solutions and my thoughts/responses/notes on them: This program is very similar to spark and why I like it.n

1. Commit yourself by taking a photo.
I donít take picture but it suggest you could on your phone and I think I will

2. Join a support group. Well that where you come in. You are my support group especially my different t team. .

3. Use automated reminders.
I think daily spark kind of do this.

4. Tatango!
This is a service that lets a bunch of people all get the same text message. I rather not do this.

5. Get a commitment from your significant other. I donít have significant other but mom and m,y sis does help with this.
we're independent types and partly because then we know where our food's been. Okay, getting way off-topic here. I can write about our ideas for our future in another blog post.

6. Find a weight-loss buddy. Well, I serval of these on spark and I occasinly workout with my familty

7. Follow people who inspire you on Twitter.
finally started a twitter account

13. Keep a food diary. I am learning to keep a food diet.
I already do this here on SP, which is awesome. I'm just going to add times for my meals in the Nutrition Tracker Notes, and I'll add what I drank in the notes, as well.

14. Drink six glasses of water a day.

I can't eat nuts either, but flax is one seed I can do in moderation. I'd strongly suggest a good probiotic. It can really help with digestion. Way to go.

I love this idea and I love baseball!! If I were not so involved in wedding planning for my daughter and traveling to D.C. in late May I would do this. Since I live in Texas, closer to the Houston Astros, I would take them which would mean so much extra exercise which would be good for me. I also support Texas Ranger who are doing nicely. emoticon

Confession time .

Monday, April 04, 2011

Confession time . I been basely alone since Thursday night. Since that time I have eaten most of a big bag a chips, four pop, a h ugh pot of chili, 3 piece of pizza, a hot dog, 10 glasses of juice, ice cream and was on top of some good healthy meals that my portion was too big at. I just I am not ready to control my eating without some guidance. I was lonely and bored so I eat. Well that didnít hurt but me . So I am going to wipe myself up pick myself off the floor and see what I learn this weekend
But before another confession. I been telling you how my wii is go great for exercise. I till think it is but I need more. After walking up a couple of hills in the last week and walking to church yesterday I realize I NEED more. I NEED SOMETHING FOR STAMINA. So I am now going to throw some workout dvd into the mix with my wii.

No action, whether foul or fair,
Is ever done, but it carves somewhere
A record, written by fingers ghostly,
As a blessing or a curse, and mostly
In the greater weakness or greater strength
Of the acts which follow it.
~ Henry W. Longfellow.

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. ~ Jim Ryan
Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. Voltaire

You can take control of your eating. I, too, eat when bored and it is difficult to control. First, no food is allowed to sit on the counter in the kitchen. It has to all be out of sight. Meals are served on a 9" lunch plate - and no second helpings. When I am bored, the kitchen is the room I stay away from. Go for a walk or find something to do with my hands helps. For exercise, walking outside is great exercise, especially if you have hills. You can do this!!!

I walk at least 3 to 6 miles every other day on my treadmill. I walk a couple times a week with my husband, usually a 6 mile walk. The outside walks kick my butt. The treadmill walks are great for cardio but the outside walks really use all my body parts with the arms swinging, longer strides lots of different movements then the treadmill. It's good to change things up every couple days.

Confession is good for the soul.

Okay... so you had your food party and like all parties that is now over and you are ready to get back on the healthy eating wagon!

I think that is a good idea about adding some workout dvd's to your wii workout. I bought myself a wii and used it for a while, now... life has gotten in the way and it sits unused. What games do you use regularly to exercise?

Dieting is a Weigh of Life
It's not the minutes spent at the table that put on weight, it's the seconds.
The biggest drawback to fasting for seven days is that it makes one weak.
The toughest part of a diet isn't watching what you eat. It's watching what other people eat.
An excellent way to lose weight is by skipping ... snacks and dessert.

The Government has Issued New Guidelines for a Healthy Diet
They advise you to:
1. List your ten favorites foods.
2. List your five favorite drinks.
3. List all green vegetables that look like marsh grass, fur balls or little trees.
4. List water.
5. Avoid 1 & 2; eat only 3; drink only 4. 6.

Each day I try to enjoy something from each of the four food groups: the bonbon group, the salty snack group, the caffeine group, and the whatever-the-thing-in-the-tinfoil-in-the-b
