Down but back

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

I have been MIA for a few days because I haven't really wanted to talk to anybody because I have been down. I lost my job on Saturday, a job I was at for 14 years, owner closed down. My car tire fell off on interstate the Sunday before that, so had a rental car for last 5 days of work. Fixed the tire and lugs and now there is something else wrong with it.
Then yesterday my brother sends me message saying my dad fell and is in hospital
and I have no car to go see him or my mom who is home alone.
Enough sad news-I am here to say I am back and to all the winter challenge members who have visited my page I will try to get back to you soon.
Thanks Sparkfriends for being here for me. I am getting back on track.
Titans- I will try my best. WE ARE THE MIGHTY TITANS!

I'm sorry that there is nothing I can do to help you. I really hope you find a job soon.
I remember going through that (job loss) at one point in my life - it was devastating at the time but eventually things turned around.

Praying things will work out for you very quickly.

Sparkcoach challenge for today.

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Sparkcoach challenge for today was to write myself a letter so here goes:

Dear Judy,

You are doing awesome and you look great. I have noticed you exercising and watching what you eat- you eat healthy. I see you walking all the time. Don't ever give up and one day soon you will make it to your goal weight. Keep up the good work.

Love yourself!

Wow, that was easier than I thought it would be.

Bad two days

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

I have to write this blog because seeing it in writing will help. I have had the last two days off from work, but other than some strength yesterday morning- I have done nothing for exercise and haven't tracked my food. I had been doing great with the exercise and tracking, but just had no motivation for the last two days. So tomorrow, June 11,2013- back on track and back to exercise-recording everything I eat. (NO KFC).
Done beating myself up- tomorrow is a new start. I can do it because I want to be in the 160's by the end of July.

I think we all take a "vacation" from tracking. And for me exercising. YOU can turn this around just by doing what you are doing.....getting back on track. Good for YOU not letting these two days turn into more. YOU are worth the effort emoticon emoticon

My goals for 2013:

1. Track my food every day.
2. Lose 30 pounds.

I think tracking food is the most important tool for weight loss. Great goal! and it will certainly lead you on the path to goal #2 of losing 30 pounds.

Move in cheaper place? I moved last year after over a year of fretting about the problems with my old apartment. I ended up buying a place - not cheaper than where I was, but still cheaper than any of the apartments I was considering. My new place is in a safer neighborhood, and I'm in control of needed repairs instead of depending on a landlord who wouldn't make them. Good luck in your search for a new place.

week 1 fall chalenge

Monday, September 10, 2012

I'm not very good at this blogging thing but here goes-

What's been holding me back is:

1. I work at KFC and the food is free to eat but it is mostly fried and unhealthy.

Changing that because something in the seasoning makes me sick to my stomach when I eat it. It didn't used to but it does now.

Been bringing my own food from home.

2. People that sabotage. Have co-worker that brings in candy and junk food.

Learning to say no to stuff he brings and he is starting to bring in healthier stuff for me.

3. I don't really like to strength exercise.

Been trying to at least 10 minutes of strength a day-15 somedays.

4. Motivation sometimes is hard because I have no support other than here on Sparkpeople.

5. Emotional eating- when I'm bored or stressed.

Like someone else said losing weight is a lifestyle not a diet.

This challenge I'm going to work on my willpower and motivation. For myself and noone else.

I can relate to motivation being hard. I can find it really hard to get motivated to workout and eat healthy a lot of the time. SP really is a great resource for that, and there are tons of people on here who can help provide that. That's why I joined the challenge, I knew it'd help. And so far it has for me. I also picked a goal for myself, which is kinda silly, but I'm using that goal as motivation to drop some weight. I had made a dress a couple years ago, and it fit at the time but I never had the opportunity to wear it. Well, it doesn't fit now, and I'm using that dress as motivation to lose weight. I told my boyfriend he has to take me out when I can fit into it again to give me the chance to wear it, lol. I hope you can keep finding your motivation.

I thinks it's wonderful that your co-worker would be nice enough to BRING healthier items. That sounds like a friend, who at least listened to you.

it's hard enough to have to say No to ourselves but the additional challenge when tempations are put in front of us is REALLY hard. Bravo that you are working on it and how nice that they are trying to think through better choices for you.

See - that co-worker IS trying to support and encourage you. Once you drop a few more pounds, the encouragement will come from praise. It's there, it will come and you will be embarrasingly elated. It's a goal in itself and a wonderful reward, so hang in there with US and we will 'get there' together.

Its tough to resist the lure of free food, whether it's a work-related benefit, or someone bringing in treats to share. Sometimes I catch myself trying to "get my money's worth" of free food at work or at a function where the food is part of the price. I remind myself that the food will always be there if I really want it - it helps keep me from wanting it NOW. I've got through a lot of tough days just by reminding myself that the world will not run out of chocolate (or pizza or donuts) - it will still be available when I reach my goal, should I really want it. And it's the worst feeling in the world when I've indulged in some free food only to find that it isn't that good and I didn't really enjoy it. Success is the dish that tastes best!

Some people say willpower is like a muscle - the more you work it, the stronger it becomes.
