It is working for me.

Friday, April 18, 2014

Small plates with food on it makes it look like you have a lot of food. Eating less and exercise is the key to loosing. Watching the scale go down is the prize and getting rid of medication and becoming healthy is the rewards. We all know it is hard, but nothing good is easy to get.
If you want it you need to suffer through the bad times and tell yourself this is going to be your lifestyle for the rest of your life, that is if you want to continue living on this earth. What is the sense of walking around with a lot of weight and being out of breath? Why pay all that money for medication which can go away once the weight is off? Doesn't it make sense to lose it? Sure we try to diet and go off them. We try many and still go off. Diet is not the trick to losing weigh, lifestyle is. Lifestyle is something you have to learn to live with the rest of your life. Once you decide it is the best solution to losing weight and stick to it you will be able to run, walk briskly and not be out of breath, you will be able to get clothes you want to wear.
I know how it feels to put plus clothes on. I have been there. I have gone up and down too.
But I have come back from a size 20 to a size l2, depending on the style. Some are l4 and I want to go back to the l2 jeans and I am only 3.8 away from getting there. With Easter coming I have to watch myself because there are sweets there and they are my down fall. I have to use my control. I did it once before through holidays, so I know I can do it again. If you want something bad enough you will do it. What is weight doing for you, nothing good for sure.
Weight could send you into an early grave. One day you could wake up and find you are drying and then it will be too late. You just have to understand now is the time to get rid of that weight, not tomorrow, but today. Now, is the time to start living the life you want. Now is the time to get healthy and have the doctor tell you some medication can be taken away. Waiting for the right moment never comes. There will always be a something to make you go off your new lifestyle. You have to be strong enough to fight it. You have to want to lose. Nobody can make you. I have been there. I used to eat a heresy bar before I came home and throw away the wrapper so dh would not tell me what I was doing was dangerous to my health. I was talking to my mother, one day, and heard her say I was out of breath and when was I going to do something about it. It is hard to believe I was once a size 20. Those clothes are gone and I don't want them back. The doc says I am healthy for an older woman and don't look my age. Don't you want people to say that about you? Don't you want to be the woman you once were. Once you have stayed away from too much food for about two weeks, it gets better as your stomach doesn't want it. Then it is up to you to stay on the straight and narrow road to success. The question is, "Do you want an early grave or do you want to see your grandchildren grow up?" It is up to you. no one can force you to lose.
People on your back telling you to lose only make you want to eat more because of the stress you are under and you alone have to show them you can do it. I am in your corner, you can write me spark mail and I will try to help you through it. But do it....Lose that weight today.
Get that exercise going, walk, do your bike, anything, but don't stand still and eat. There are so many low calorie foods you can make. Eat healthy and live to see what life is like when you get old. Eat less and feel the strength come back into your life. Feel the energy appear.
You can do it. If it is working for me, it will work for you. Try it for two weeks and when you see that weight go off you will want to continue to see it. What a wonderful feeling it will be to see a new you. My board is Tips for Writing and Weight Loss, come join me.

You can do it.

Thursday, April 17, 2014

Anyone can lose weight, even though it is hard to do. You have to want to lose. Nobody can make you want to, you have to want it yourself. Loosing weight can be easy, so stop making it hard for yourself. First you need to start to scale down what you eat. You can not do it in a day it takes about two weeks. If you have been eating two hamburgers try scaling down to one, the first week. The second week cut it in half and add more veggies. By cutting your meals in half, to smaller amounts, in a two week period you will gradually start to get your stomach to not want as much as it did before. By the end of two weeks you will find you do not want a lot to eat, your stomach will tell you that it is full. You need to exercise, no excuse. Get it out of the way in the morning, if you can, once you go to work you are tired when you get home. Oh yes, I hear you, getting up in the morning is a chore, but it is going to help you if you start exercising. That plus a cup of coffee will awaken your energy to start the day. Then start out with oatmeal for breakfast, never mind some fast food muffin or waffle and all that syrup. Lunch bring carrot sticks, celery, nuts, when you get hungry later in the day. Try to stay away from sandwiches, bring your lunch in a microwave dish with cover, and a fork or spoon.
If you want bread only have two slices a day, could be toast in the morning, or if you want that sandwich. When you find you are hungry and the carrot sticks are not enough have a banana, or orange, or some fruit. Drink plenty of water so you do not feel hungry, and have a cup of tea a few hours before you go to bed to fill you up. As for watching tv, get used to eating a fruit or carrot sticks or nuts, but only a handful. This is the secret and you can do it. Stop giving up on yourself. You can do it, all you have to do is try.

A sure way to lose.

Thursday, February 06, 2014

We all want to do it but we can't get motivated. Why? What is your reason you can't get started? Exercise is hard to do when you know you have to do it, but if you can make a game out of it, then it will be easy. Start out slow, do 5 min for a week, and then graduated to l0, and before by the end of the month you will be doing 20 min. See how easy that was. Now, you need to expand another 20 min for the next month, just 5 min a week extra and then you will find you are doing 40 min without a problem. Now, that is solved, lets conquer the food.
What are you eating that you should avoid? Sweets, carbs, ya, I know you love them, but they are your enemy, lose them. I believe once you have conquered them and can have them once in a while, then leave them out of your diet. If you are like me, eating one, leads to another so they do not live here anymore. Now, do you like salads? I buy the spinach and mix leaves and I put in tomatoes, cukes, pickles, for dh, and then add to both, the spinach and mix, olives, lettuce, romaine lettuce, chick peas and kidney beans, sometimes, mushrooms.
You can put in whatever you want, and then I add Perdue Chicken cuts, which I defrost in the microwave. I put some dressing on top and if you are not fill after eating that, I don't know what to tell you. That is one meal. Hamburger patties on the Foreman Grill takes away the grease and you can have some low calorie veggies with it. Some will have bake beans but if you do only a half cup, as they have calories. Watch too much carrots as they have sugar.
Cut up some onion and mushrooms and pour over your hamburger. Ketchup and relish makes it tasty. You can have turkey meatloaf but only take a small piece and fill up your plate with veggies and fruit. There are so many things you can do. You can even have lasagna but only have it in a small plate and the size of a deck of cards. Watch the sauce, 5 calories a ts.
Make yourself a salad if the lasagna does not fill you up. Always, have salad with your meals and veggies if you want to be full and most of all remember deck of cards portion and small plate. I followed this program and I am losing, so join me and start losing too.

You gave a great plan there Camey, every so often I have to trick my brain into doing exercise. However, I say just do 10 minutes and if you are really that lazy you can stop for the day. I wind up doing my usual exercise. I laugh at myself afterwards!

I eat mostly vegetarian/vegan but I have to have some fish and chicken a few times a week to keep up my protein and iron levels since I can get weak being purely vegan. I can do better avoiding dairy than I can with a little bit of meat. I do eat beans but too much can get me a little uncomfortable so I try to have variety in my diet as much as I can. See you in the team! I gave 50 bonus pts. today :)~

Take a min and say a pray for cancer patients.

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Those of us who never had cancer hit us will never know what we go through. Some of us make it and others don't. As we age we find our friends and some of our family are getting hit with this terrible disease. We hear about not using soy because it can cause cancer and many other substances, but we still continue to use them. We thank our friends who prayed for us and helped us through this moment of terror. But what about others who have nobody to pray for them? People who have to go through cancer all by theirselves, alone, afraid. Have we ever thought to say a prayer for them? You know them, some are on your teams.
They need prayers, so take a minute and say a prayer for all of those who have cancer to beat this disease and get well quick.

So many around me dealing with this awful disease. My dad died from it, my best friend's mom is dying from it with a brain tumor, her brother also has one on his brain too- his is being managed, but nothing else can be done for their mom.
I don't understand why, but trust in our almighty Father that his plans are perfect.

Who says yu can't eat what you want?

Friday, January 24, 2014

A deck of cards for protein may not seem a lot, but after two weeks, it will seem like too much to eat, especially, if you fill your plate with veggies. You can eat anything as long as you keep it small. That is what a lifestyle is, something you can live with. By eating smaller portions you are not deprived of food you want to eat. Today, I had oatmeal, 3 walnuts broken up in it. Then had a rice krispie bar.

Lunch was a salad, some semi fried onions and mushrooms in pam, and some yams, and know what I am full. I am drinking water now and it is almost 3 o'clock and I am still not hungry. The other day, I made pot roast with potatoes, carrots, onions, etc. I had very little and I was satified. Another day I made chicken tenders and flattened them out and put mushrooms on them and I had one serving, with salad and I was satified and I lost weight too.

But of course, I did what a lot don't like to do and that is exercise for hour and half. I do it 7 days a week without fail. Even tho they say losing weight is hard, it is hard for the first few weeks till you stomach settles down to the fact that it really doesn't need all that extra calories you give it. Sometimes, when you overeat you get stomach cramps, is it worth it? I think not, so why do you overeat? I know, it looks good and it is something you don't always have, but you have to have it more often but in a smaller quanity so your stomach will not be craving it. Eating what you want but in a smaller plate helps. The only thing you should go back for it veggies, not anything else. And choose the veggies low in sugar and calories. If you want something high in calories, then cut it in half.

Who says you can't have a muffin, cut it in half. Bake them and put them in the freezer and take one out a day and share it with your husband, or have a friend over and have a cup of coffee and half muffin. If you make the muffins smaller then you can have a whole one.
When baking put two teaspoons in the pan, instead of 3 or 4 and your muffins will come out small. That way you are not depriving yourself of the food you like.

Yes, losing weight is a job because you not only have to exercise but have to control your servings.

I hope I have helped you get motivated before the spring comes. I want to see the new you as much as you do. So what do you say, are you gamed? Are you willing to work for a new figure? Are you going to stop using excuses? Write me and let me know how yu are doing.
I will be there to there, at the front of the line, catching you if you fall, but if you do, you have to get back up again. Never give up. Your life is too important to you. Don't shorten it because of too much weight.

Okay Camey I know you wrote this for me. Portion control is my downfall. If something really tastes good I have to go back for seconds ~ I might start out with a moderate amount and feel really good about it but....it takes a lot of discipline not to want more. I am maintaining my weight but would love to lose some weight. So will keep trying and remembering your blog. Hugs and Blessings, Dot

Very true Camey. I definitely agree with you, losing weight is to do everything in measures, not to let yourself loose.
After my Dengue-infection, denture problems and having only semi-soft food I realized I was consuming too many carbs, so DGD now has oatmeal replacing the mashed rise and an overcooked carrot or beans added to the porridge to help me get my fibre dose too. Yes the means do take a little longer to chew, but no complaints as it helps me control what I eat.

Great advice, Camey! I, too, have finally learned portion control, and slowed way down while eating. I used to eat so fast, but now it is a habit, and I enjoy my meal so much now. emoticon

Portion control is important but food choice is important too. One thing I notice about your choices of food - you stick to the unprocessed foods. Good for you! While a rice crispy treat here and there may not do a lot of damage, a diet made wholly up of processed foods will. Even with portion control.

90 minutes of exercise a day is what Harvard Medical School says is necessary to lose weight. I think for most folks who work an 8 hour day, followed by housekeeping and caring for children, that 90 minutes is virtually impossible unless it's taken in ten or fifteen minute segments throughout the day. Now that I'm retired, I'm enjoying the luxury of walking for an hour at a time whenever I want to.

I love your attitude, I wish I could take the drive and determination I have for my job and substitute it into my life as a whole. I'm thinking that I probably know why I don't but haven't owned up to it yet, very irresponsible but I will try....

Good luck and will try to take some of your ideas on board x

Working away at it. Portion control is a big part key - but then again if we practiced portion control, we wouldn't be where we are, huh? In fact there was a study done by some docs who said you don't need to change the foods you are eating, just portion control and calorie counting. Hmmmm, not sure that works or is healthy - so I'm going for the whole food angle with portion control.

Here's to a smaller, healthier us in the springtime!!!
