My husband of 28 yrs. grew up on a small farm...chickens, horses, big garden, 80 acres of land. We currently live in Alaska on an island so we can either grow produce in raised bed gardens or a greenhouse. So, my husband built a greenhouse. This year we're growing: tomatoes (several varieties), strawberries (kids love seeing them grow), scallions, dill, peppers, chives, cilantro (dominant smell - love it), spinach, rhubarb, lettuce...I think that's it. The greenhouse plants started out neat & petite. However, after a month and daylight lasting for 18 hour/day -seeing progress. We do enjoy being able to highlight meals with home-grown herbs and it's been a good lesson for the kids to see how easy it is to grow some produce.
