Just sitting here thinking to myself how I can manage to fit in more exercise in my busy life. I know that for me dieting alone will not keep me on this weight loss journey.
I also want to increase my exercise so I can be fitter and healthier. As spring is here the motivation should be greater to get out and about more often.
Here are a few tips that I find help me to get exercise, some which I came up with myself and some which I have come across along the way.
It is good for me to write these things down so I can read them all in one place as it is easy to forget!
1. Prioritize exercise
When I say that I have no time to exercise, what I am really saying is that it is not high on my list of priorities!
So I need to put it on my list of 'things to do' not on my list of 'things to do if I have time'
2. Think exercise all the time.
Where ever I am I need to think how I can increase my energy expenditure.
I already bring shopping bags instead of a shopping cart. Not alone does this give my arms a good workout but it also makes me more conscious of what I put in the bags!
When ever I drop off my kids at an activity, I fit in a walk while waiting for them to finish. Beats sitting and reading a magazine.
3. Make all activity count
I figured out this one recently - if I come home from work and leave my work shoes on I do everything much slower.
My new plan is to wear my runners and comfortable clothes all the time when not out or at work. Not alone do I do the house work with more energy and faster, but I am also ready to head off for a walk should the opportunity arise!!
I am going to concentrate on these three points for this week and will update this as I find more.
