We're only human

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Yesterday, was a human day for me. I slipped up and eat over my recommended calorie intake for the day. emoticon I didn't exercise, except for fighting with the removal and replacement of a door handle at my Mother's house.

emoticon I realize I am not a failure I just slipped off the path, for a moment. Today I jumped right back on the path and am heading toward a better me.

Failure is not an option and there is no turning back, for the future head is brighter and better.

So for all of those of you that may have had a bad day yesterday, as I did. Remember you did not fail you are just human.

That's right we are only human. Thats why I take it one day at a time. I look at what I did the previous day and if I slipped up i try not to repeat it over again. I try not to be hard on myself and look for motivation in the new day that God has given to me. emoticon

Is it all about the numbers?

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Changing ones lifestyle to add exercise and eat correctly is so easy to say, but it certainly isn't as easy as it sounds.

It seems lately that it is all about the numbers.
The number of steps
The number of calories
The number of veggies and fruits
The number of glasses of water
The number on the scale
The number of body measurements
The number of meals a day
The number of minutes you exercise
The number of miles
And on and on and on.

Today the light went on in my head and I realize that it isn't really about the numbers at all, but about the way you feel after you complete a day with the right numbers. It's about the changes in the way your body feels and looks, when you get the numbers correct.

Yesterday the numbers were frustrating. Today not so much. I do look at and pay attention to the numbers, but today I am going to stay focused on the benefits of adhering to them.

You're so right! The numbers don't tell how you feel. Last night my trainer and I were talking about how I feel better and look better, and how much stronger I am, and how much more I can do compared to when I first started training with him. And it wasn't about the numbers.
Good blog! emoticon

You hit the nail right on the head Diane. The numbers are important when you start down this healthy path but once you figure those out then it is just a matter of sticking to them (as best as possible) and focusing on the changes that are occurring with your body. As long as you are moving toward your goal the numbers are not important. I look at the numbers as a guide I need to keep in mind but as long as my body feels strong and healthy I am a happy camper!
Good for you and keep on moving!

Exercise directed by Mother Nature

Wednesday, February 02, 2011

Yes, I live in the snow belt and yes we got slammed by snow last night. Thank goodness we didn't get the rain, sleet and ice. Only the snow fell here. Looks like Mother Nature has decided what kind of exercise I will do today. At least in the morning. The dog is bothering me to go for our walk, but I just can't get out to our usual walking path. Although i spent 3 hours snow blowing and shoveling my driveway, I did manage to have a little fun before I came in the house. For those of you that grew up in an area where you had winter snow I am sure this will bring back a few memories for you.

Awesome snow angel! I'm from snow belt Ontario and, even though we didn't get the "Snowmageddon" that they were calling for, it was enough on top of what we already had. I hope you and your dog are able to get on your usual path soon! :)

This is a GREAT blog! Very motivational. I think I am going to assign something like this to my students who are "in academic distress." Maybe it will get them motivated!

I need a push or jump start.

Saturday, January 22, 2011

This week has been very difficult for me to get moving. I know I need to push myself, but I just don't seem to have the energy to move. I don't know if it is the weather, the slow recovery for the nasty cold or just plain laziness. What ever it is I have to get past this. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know the answer to this, but I do know that you have done a lot of good things this week. You accepted the challenge to blog every day, and you've been very successful with that. You've also been very supportive in commenting on other people's blogs. Plus you've done other things that you blogged about, like bowling and cleaning out your closets. So build on those successes, and have a good week! emoticon

I feel ya! I now have a heavy cold. Forget the exercise. Let your body recover fully. break yourself in with walking when yourr ready. Try lots of fruuit and vegetables and water water water. you can do this!

Thank you for the advice. I will move today! JUST DO IT!

Methinks that the weather might be the reason why. I don't really think that we were meant to be outside in the type of cold weather that you have recently been blogging about. I know that when it gets "cold" here (low 40's!)all I want to do is vegetate in front of the television under a warm blanket!
Don't let a slow week dictate what the next week will be like. You have made incredible progress these past few months! Revel in these accomplishments and move forward!
Like I always just keep moving!

When I get like that, it is usually because I am bored with my old routine. It is easy for me to lose focus of the imporantance to move when I am bored with what I am dong. Try something new or different. Get a friend to go with you. Take 15 minutes out of your lunch to add Leslie Sansone's 15 minute mile. You can watch and move along with her at www.walkathome.com .

I hope you get moving soon! The longer you sit, the easier it gets!
