Spark Your Body Bootcamp Challange

Saturday, January 02, 2010

I joined this team for the month - along with finishing out The Biggest Loser competition.

Here are my stats starting Bootcamp:

This morning I weighed 126.6 (bad after the holidays! I need this challange!)
Measurements as of yesterday:
25.4% body fat
Waist: 27.5"
Hips: 37"
Neck: 13"
Right Thigh: 21.5"
Right Calf: 14"
Right Upper Arm: 11.25"
Waist-Hip Ratio: 0.72
Resting Heart Rate is 56 this morning.

My goals for this month are to really get back on track with exercise and eating healthy. Most of the bad junk food is out of our house and I'm craving healthy food, so that shouldn't be a problem. Yesterday I did pretty good!! I really need help with exercise and jumping back into it, but I'm going to do it - starting today. I will follow this program as well as continue using my treadmill (with my new HRM/sports watch my wonderful husband bought me for Christmas) and try out Barry's Bootcamp that I finally bought off Ebay!

I want to be fit and toned when we vacation in the Florida Keys the beginning of March - that gives me 2 months to get there. :) By the end of this program (the end of January) I would like to be weighing about 116#. That would be a loss of right around 10#. I'm not sure if I'll be there, it's only a goal. I'm learning to not be disappointed if I do not reach those weight goals as they are just numbers. If I follow this program and get back on track I know I will be much healthier in a month no matter what weight number I'm at.

Here are some goals:
1. 116#
2. Fit back into a size 4 pants wearing some 2's occasionally. (right now I'm wearing 4's, but some are 6's - the sizes vary so much depending on brands!)
3. Feel better
4. Tone up
5. I would like to drop my body fat %. I would like it to be under 24% regularly, whereas right now it has ranged from 23.0 - 26.1 with an average of 25.0 through December.
6. Lower my waist-hip ratio to 0.70 (not sure how fast this can be lowered safely)

My Plan:
1. Stick with the Biggest Loser goals and challanges
2. Follow Spark Your Body Bootcamp Challanges daily.
3. Jump back on my treadmill doing about 1 hour most days (at least 5) of the week.
4. Try Barry's Bootcamp - one session daily.
5. Tuesdays & Thursdays are Yoga from 4-5 PM
6. Wednesdays are Strength Training from 3:45-4:45 - will leave work an hour early to attend now that they've moved them to Wednesdays and they're no longer on Yoga days. :)
7. And of healthy! Lots of fruits and veggies!! Get more protein!!

Hmm. I think that's it for now! Maybe I'll take and post pictures of the "Before" today or tomorrow!!

AngelGal01 - Sorry, I never went back to read anything anybody posted on my blogs!!! So sorry! That's awesome that we started SP together!! And that we're in the same group. I didn't notice that!

You can be impressed as to how well I was tracking, but unfortunately I did not continue to track all of that ...never tracked it at the end of that little competition even. Ick.

I'm 5'3". My goal wt that I had written down was 116#. You know, honestly, it's not a certain number, per se, that I'm looking for, but at one point in my life I had gotten down to 117# (Ive typically averaged 126#) and that was the healthiest and most alive I've ever felt, so that is what I'm going by as a goal weight. I do not go by numbers such as weight or BMI, but how I feel. I just felt so amazing at that point that I'd love to get there again. Unfortunately, now with my sedentary job, it's tough! :)

Wow, I am impressed with how detailed you're tracking is. Just out of curiosity, what is your height and age? I'm 45 yrs old and about 5'7" and trying to determine what would truly be a good goal weight to end up with. So far I've set two goals and I am currently on top of the most recent but can tell I still need to firm up.

BTW, you and I started Spark around the same time and are on the SPClass 9/28/08-10/4/08 team together. I also started the bootcamp challenge today with the goal of regaining all I've lost from not exercising (except for the occasional snow shoveling) over the last two months. I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress!

You're looking great! Keep up the good work.

10 Things That Motivate Me To Be Healthier

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

For the BL Lime Team: Here are my 10 things...

1. I want to feel good - including happiness.
2. I want to be physically fit and have lots of energy.
3. I want to provide my husband and (future) children with the best, healthiest life ever and to do that, I need to be healthy.
3. I would love to be around for my great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids!!
4. I'm a dietitian and I feel that if I were overweight I would be contradicting my goals/reasons for being an RD and what I do on a daily basis.
5. I want to look good for my husband and for myself when I look in the mirror.
6. I want to show people that being healthy, eating right & exercising each day IS possible!!
7. I want to fit into my 3 closets full of clothes instead of buying new ones! :)
8. I love the taste of healthy food and I love the way it makes me feel.
9. I love how I feel when I'm exercising regularly.
10. I want to live a good life and I strongly feel that not necessarily our weight, but yet our health has a LOT to do with how we feel about/live life.

So there are my 10 motivators. I have many more. Sure some of it is for looks, but who wouldn't love to look like some of the (healthier looking) models and beautiful people!? :) Overall though, it IS about how I feel and what makes me feel great. It's not about being "skinny", but achieving a weight at which I just feel comfortable and healthy.

New Workout DVD

Monday, December 07, 2009

Well, last night I decided to buy a new workout DVD. I was at Wal-mart and they sure didn't have a lot. I ended up with a 60 minute beginning Pilates mat workout one. There were some dance ones that looked interesting and fun, but I have such a hard time following DVD's that this one looked "simpler" for me. :)

I'm going to use this as my "new exercise this week" for the BL Lime challange. :) It'll definitely be something new as I've never did pilates before nor do I usually follow DVD's! :) I think I may try it out tomorrow! We'll see! :)

you could return it to Walmart and get your money back. they take anything back...just stick it in your purse for the next time you go to Walmart, since I know it's kinda far away :)

TROUBLESMOM - I'm the SAME as you. I have several of them that I've picked up on the sale racks and such (and this one even cost me $13.00, which I hate to spend on a workout DVD), but every time I try them, I do not like them. I'm just addicted to my treadmill. I just know how bad it is not to switch things up from time to time, so I'm trying to attempt new things.

This DVD was okay. It was a beginner version and despite me NEVER doing pilates before, I think it was TOO beginner for me!! It didn't really tire me out (in fact I just ran 5.5 miles after doing the entire DVD). I didn't even break a sweat. I remember feeling warm at one point, but it didn't last. Ah...maybe I'll sell it on Ebay and buy a better one.

I have to say though that this was an EASY one to follow and they were really really good at making sure you kept breathing and focusing. I usually find that I get lost and can't keep up with workout DVD's, but this one I could follow perfectly even though it was my first time doing it!

At least I can say that I did my challange for this week - try a new exercise and report on it!! :) Yey!

Sports Bra!

Saturday, November 28, 2009

Ick. Thanksgiving did a number on my weight loss efforts. I was down to 125#, but as of this morning gained 2 Thanksgiving pounds! We're all out of leftovers now though and I've ate really well today so far! Hittin' up Buffalo Wild Wings tonight, but I already know what Im going to have if everyone decides to order food. I'm prepared. For drinks, I think I'll stick with my Malibu and Diet. Yum. Not TOO bad for cals.

So, yesterday during our 4-hour Black Friday adventure, I picked up a new sports bra! It's LIME green and blue! I'm so excited to try it out today! I plan on jumping on the treadmill in a few minutes and seeing how it works! I was very excited. I need some new sports bras!!

Well, hoping to be down under 127 tomorrow again. I don't want to gain!!

BL Lime - Plan of Action!

Monday, November 23, 2009

Hi all -

I'm with some of you others as I haven't quite finalized my POA. So far some things I'd like to accomplish include:

1. First and foremonst - keep up with the team. I know that for me, keeping up with logging, etc may be more difficult than actually getting in the exercise! :) I'm going to do my best.! emoticon
2. Staying faithful to my new accountability partner - Lepa!! emoticon
3. Track my food and fitness very accurately. emoticon
4. Drink at least 64ox water daily. I'm good at this!! emoticon
5. Continue to consume at least 6 servings of fruits/veggies per day. emoticon
6. Treat myself with respect and be proud of what I'm doing for myself. emoticon
7. Try to replace negative thoughts ("I really don't want to workout today") with positive ones ("but I know it'll make me feel so alert and healthy!")!! I'm constantly working on this one and it REALLY helps! emoticon
8. Give myself a healthier body. I deserve it! emoticon

...and yes, I have a few weight goals - don't we all? I really don't think that those are quite as important as the rest I have set though. The weight goals will be met once the others are accomplished. :)

Thank you all for being my teammates and...let's get healthy!!
