How tight should it be??

Thursday, July 29, 2010

I have been getting fills every 2 weeks for the last few months. The fill yesterday is feeling pretty tight. But, maybe this is how it should feel??? My morning protein shake is sitting there and feeling tight. Is that how it should feel?

Fills every two weeks is very aggressive. Sometimes it takes a fill two weeks to really hit. Most doctors will only fil every 4 -6 weeks. To answer your question though, if your protein shake is just sitting there I think you are too tight. Does water go down easily? Be careful, if you aren't able to eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food without getting stuck or pain then you need a slight unfill.

Texas Lynn it sounds like you are about right on the 1/2 cup of food but that 1/2 cup should keep you from being hungry for 4 hours. You might find that 1000 calories and having to eat 6 times a day to get there is not a good thing. When I am adjusted with good restriction I usually only eat about 700 - 800 calories and only eat three times a day. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat because I am not hungry even after 4 hours.

Have you considered bringing this up in the Lap Band Team?

I think that is a great goal. I wonder if your doc is just doing bigger fills than what I am getting. I had my band placed in January and I am just starting to really feel restricted. But, I have lost 55 pounds, so something is working.

That sounds like a lot of fills. I've only had 2 in 8 months but we may have different brands of bands. After this last fill, I feel restricted for the first time since surgery, meaning that I can eat about 1/2 cup without feeling uncomfortable. My guess is that this is too tight but I have absolutely no intention of changing anything. I'm working to consume 1,000 calories and it takes about 6 small meals to do it. At 4:30 PM, I've eaten a can of 7 Vienna sausage mashed with pickle relish and some light mayo with 4 crackers and feel pretty full. I'm going to make hamburgers afterwhile and try to eat half for dinner and the remainder befoe I go to bed.

It's been a week and so far I feel great. Comments anyone?

Maintaining is killing my drive...

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Finally!!! My last 2 days of the pureed diet!!!! On Monday, bring on the "real" food!!! The last 2 weeks I have been maintaining my weight loss and it is driving me crazy. I have been exercising, eating small meals, and getting my protein in. The only thing I can think of is that I am not eating enough calories. So I start tracking my food again. I have found that it is REALLY hard to eat more than a 1,000 calories a day. I am hoping that once I get off this mushy foods it will be easy (and hopefully I was have more energy). I want to loss another 30 pounds in the next three months, I don't think it sounds impossible... Monday will be 4 weeks since surgery and I see my doctor again the week after that. I am hoping for my 1st fill!

What a week!!

Saturday, February 13, 2010

This week just flew right on by!! First of all, I am still feeling good. I went to my 2 week follow up appointment on Tuesday. I had lost 20 pounds in a month and 14 of those pounds were just since my surgery! And with all my measurements I lost just over 6 inches!!! I felt pretty good about that. My incisions are feeling pretty good, except for the largest one. That one is still sore. I increased my exercising this week and the last few days I have been holding pretty steady on my weight. I am not sure what has happened... My husband thinks I am not eating enough calories. I asked the doctor where I should be right now until I start eating "real" food again. He said I should be right around 900 calories. I am sure some days I am less than that. Could this be causing my weight lost to slow down?

I have been told that not eating enough calories will cause you to stop eating. I know I don't lose very fast when mine gets low.

2 weeks post op

Monday, February 08, 2010

I MADE IT!!!! Surgery was two weeks ago today and I am feeling GREAT! I go in for my 2 week follow up on Wednesday. I am so excited to see how many "official" pounds I have lost!! The pants I put on today for work were VERY baggie. When I look in the mirror I feel like I am starting to see a difference between my neck and jaw bone. (Plus I am excited to see that my jaw bone still exists under all that fat.) This is all so exciting!!!! I will have to start posting pictures now that I am starting to feel better about myself. emoticon Thanks everyone for your support!! emoticon

So I am just a 1 and a half post op AND I have a family gathering to go to on Saturday. I have been asked to bring a salad. Does anyone have any suggestions for a salad that I can eat while on a pureed diet???

You could make a jello salad with cottage cheese in it.
