Gratitude

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

This has been quite the year for me. I was newly diagnosed with diabetes early this year and had to postpone shoulder surgery. I was able to get the a1c score down for the surgery in September. Since it was last October when I first noticed the slow moving shoulder, it's been a year for some of these muscles to be awakened through physical therapy and exercise.

My work life exited, I had a kiddish fight with my sister so we are having a passive aggressive time-out period, and then I was in a fender bender that took my old car out of commission.

All in all, there has been some real crap that has happened and a real opportunity to improve my life. I've written about some hassles with my physical therapist earlier but one thing that she has done has been to encourage me to move that shoulder and when I've been really discouraged she has reminded me that this shoulder has atrophied for a year, and it will still take time to work. She recommended the weight machines and I began the activtrac which I have done for 53 days. I also have added yoga classes, tai chi class, altered swimming weights and exercises for the laps, and bali. I also found out that I can cardio on the bike but not walking on the treadmill. Because I live within four y's I have mapped out those classes, and on average exercise about an hour each day.

Today, I went for blood work for my a1c so to see if I have regressed these past few months on my diabetes and cholesterol. If I did not have the diabetes and had to wait for the shoulder surgery, I wanted the fixed shoulder and didn't take for granted the good shoulder that I once had.

Shoulder problems are related with diabetes.Good for you on having the phiso.I am still struggling with my shoulder as I have not done as much exercise as you.The spin bike has helped me to recover. An elbow and shoulder surgeon advised me to continue with the bike classes.A1c perfection is a beast to maintain this time of year. Keep at it. emoticon

car shopping

Saturday, December 06, 2014

I'm ok, my ol' car totaled and I procrastinated looking for another. Now that I've started and I got tutored on how to use the car.com etc and where to start looking for cars, it's kind of fun.

Im also learning to buy some chicken, crock pot it, put it in the refrig. Then when it is there and I have more home time, buy some veggies and cook them in water (steam them) and not get fancy and eat them

Only, I'm eating them for breakfast and supper/evening--not trying to stop my eating out, just giving myself options for home eating that is good.

One more thing--it's been 50 days since I started active track. Last evening I was in my livingroom on the yoga mat, and I did a sit-up......then I got all excited and tried it again, and I couldn't do it! lol

Oh, my, new car shopping, can be exciting or frustrating. So many chooses and what color, do I need this, do I need that. Lots of decisions. Woo Rah, on the sit up.
