wow a whole year

Monday, January 03, 2011

so here I am starting again. Scary. Very Scary.
Two days ago, as a family we started following the EatingRules.com Rules- so far so good.

Day 2, made cinnamon rolls using some whole wheat- not all whole wheat. First snag! I love to use whole wheat but not by itself for something like that. Today (Day 3) has been better- oatmeal for breakfast. Salad with feta and taco meat for lunch. Roasting a chicken for dinner.
Walked Sophie on the new 'trail' 45 min at good speed, and swam 10 (2way) laps at the gym. Proud to have taken myself there!

ok, got up, walked the dogs and read Spark articles. I think it will be better to do this in the morning. I did Wii for an hour- burned all the calories it has set for me. It says my Wii age is 67! I need to work at this more often. Anyway then I had a chopped salad and hummus and here I am. I have homework to do, have to get ready for the week, but I really want to keep up with this.

I don't know what's wrong.. every day the scale goes up 2 pounds now a total of 10 more than one month ago. I was at the doctor's office so I"m sure. I'm attributing it to the stress I have had with a finding on a mammogram which first meant a 2nd xray then a biopsy. I'm waiting on results... No one said the C word, and they got all of whatever it was, but it has been more stress than I realized. i start crying occasionally even though I know I'm ok. I don't think I'm eating differently but must be...

I was off a few days because of the procedure, but am re-dedicated to my health because of it.

Day Two

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Today my two 5th grade classes did all the prep for catering the teachers' lunch. They were typical 5th graders- slightly unfocused, happy, noisy, busy. I had to keep bringing them back to what needed to be done.

The lunch however, was DEEEELISH. Marinated chicken, flavored rice (beet with dill, saffron/garlic/green onion, carrot/cumin), green salad, and crazy cake. Best I can figure this was a big lunch but for the day I'm still low on most things I'm tracking. The "overage" on fat was from the pre-made meatloaf from Safeway. By the time I cleaned after lunch and stopped to shop I got home late and didn't have time to cook...

Crazy Cake: Must be crazy not to try it

Saturday, January 23, 2010

This cake has no dairy and no eggs so must be lower than average in calories and cholesterol. It's not the cake you find at a bakery, or that my friend the pastry chef makes, or even the one from the grocery store, but it's moist and yummy and quick to make.
