losing weight is like saving money

I am good at saving money and recognize that you save a little at a time and it'll add up in the long haul. Its the same with losing weight. Only in reverse. add money to the jar, take M&M's out of the jar...
And the compound interest is the same also, only in reverse. The money adds up, the weight totals down. Or, The interest stays the same with money, but the interest (from your husband or sig other) goes way up!
Anyway, I am back after being gone from here since last August (!) and will be making regular deposits in my weight loss journey. I mean to do this. Just like saving for retirement, I will also lose the weight penny by penny, dime by dime, Lincoln by Lincoln, Jackson by Jackson...

Back to Spark again! I am gonna start and stick to it. I will lose it before Christmas! Here I go!! 32 days til New Years. I'm gonna go for 6 lbs. right now my scale says 164. I'm shooting for 158 by Dec 31st. I can do that!

  Good Morning!
I am overwhelmed by the links and all the blogs, posts, information, etc. I have been a member of SparkPeople for many years and my role is to read and go at it alone. I am tired of being a spectator and I believe I am ready to take action. I would like to loose 30 lbs but I realize I can't do it alone. I am soliciting help with this site. Is there someone out there that has the time to help me get started with my goals and this site. Where do I begin?

I'm back but weak

I feel so defeated! Isn't that a terrible way to start back? And on a Monday? I'm back to 164. I never wanted to see that "6" again!!! I was down to 158 and then I sabotaged myself...story of my life.
I feel and am so messy in my whole life right now. Everything is in a state of mess. I just dont know where to start.
How do you just start back after sooooo much time away? Where did my motivation go??

    Bunnies - you've just come across an obstacle. It's not a brick wall that must be climbed, but a gate you have to figure out how to open and then you can move on through...

That's what Spark says anyway, and I believe them...!

Your gain could be anything from fluid retention, TOTM, anything. I've just come across your page so need to do some catching up on your routine – but I will ask do you weigh yourself once a week? In the morning or evening? Because all these can make a difference. To put back on 6lb you would have to eat…hang on, I know this….erm….I can’t remember, but you would have to eat like a truck full of food, so it must be water or something. The most important thing is, it will go again, you just have to keep on keepin’ on and not beat yourself up.

It’s easy for me to say all this, but I have felt these frustrations, I know how it is to work your butt off, slip up and then feel like it was worth nothing. But the feeling of frustration and like you have let yourself down will pass, that scale will start moving again and you’ll be back on top.

I say to myself the following when I feel like I have failed, or let myself down:

“Ever TRIED, ever FAILED. NO MATTER. Try AGAIN, fail AGAIN, fail BETTER.”

It’s by Samuel Beckett the playwright and although it’s nothing to do with dieting or changing your lifestyle I think it’s relevant.
