Having a bit of a fat day. Too much junk, no exercise, up on the scale. Argh. I need to remind myself of how far I have come. I will NOT go back to how I was. I will not be that fat. I will not eat crap and then sit on the couch. I won't, and I can't make me!

Feeling better, time to get back to the gym

I know, I know, do it, don't blog it! And I will, in about 20 minutes. I have to let my lunch settle!

The boyfriend took me out for dinner last night, and I splurged a little. We had some bread to start, and I had 3 of the 8 pieces (they weren't big). I left about 1/3 of my main, which I just ate for lunch. My main was vegetarian, so that cuts the calories. I didn't realise the main was vegetarian until it got to me, so it was a happy accident. I had one alcoholic drink and then switched to water, and we skipped dessert at the restaurant and got McFlurries instead. I know that doesn't sound much better, but at least I know how many calories are in a McFlurry!

Now I am changed into my gym clothes and ready to go. I'm not feeling up to cardio, but I'll do my weights program. Obviously if I'm not feeling well at any stage I'll stop and come home. I need to get it back into my routine. I haven't had a whole week off exercise all year, and it has thrown me off my axis a little!

Next week I am busy. I have courses that go until 5 and 5.30pm on Monday and Tuesday. My brain shuts off at 4.30pm sharp, so this should be interesting.

Anyways, time to go to the gym!


Learning update door

This is what I spent my non contact time doing today.

It is a learning status update door! When the kids learn something and want to share their learning they can take a whiteboard marker and 'update their learning status'. I thought it would be a fun way for the kids to share their learning, and to take ownership of their learning as well.

Memo to me: Pinteresting while sick makes me do crazy things to my classroom.

So, I have reports due early next week, and I only got the stuff I needed today. It is going to be a loooong boring weekend. I'll try to get to the gym tomorrow and get back into my workouts, but other than that I'm reporting all weekend!

Back at work today

I don't teach on Wednesday's, so I wasn't back to teaching, but I was back at work today. I mainly hung out in the staffroom and did paper work and other boring fiddly things that need to get done and get put in the 'later' pile. I did have a professional development observation today, which was good. It was for guided reading and after the observation I was told that the good thing about me is that I already have a good handle on guided reading, and won't need as much work. Whoop whoop! Nice to hear from the literacy expert!

Tomorrow I am back to teaching. I miss it! We are starting something new in writing, using what I learned at my course last week, so I am excited to see how well it all works. I also have a super cool door display that is going up tomorrow afternoon when the kids are in the library. I'll post pictures tomorrow. It is going to be a cool and fun way for the children to take responsibility for their learning. Eeek!!

    Love how excited you get about starting new things with your students! It sounds like your district provides awesome support to new teachers (love that you get days away from the class to work, and profresional observations and feedback!). Glad you are feeling a bit better.

I am so sick of being sick. Between my boyfriend who has no immune system and is always passing something on, and my snotty little angels, I feel like I am always coming down with a cold! I made it through a couple of hours this morning before I lost my voice and had to come home. My workmates are all very supportive and understanding, so this wasn't a problem. In fact, 3 separate teachers told me to go home! I have organized a reliever for tomorrow, and I have been told to stay home until I am well. The only problem is that I lose a whole week of teaching time if I take time off, and that worries me. However it also means that I will have a whole day to make resources! I'm not a sit around kinda gal, I need to be doing something. Writing words on Popsicle sticks doesn't seem like it would be too draining, so that is what I'll do.

While the kids were in my care this morning they were really good. They were quiet so I wouldn't have to raise my voice, and they were very concerned about me. After I left apparently one boy asked if I had left because he was naughty (awww!) and when he was told no, I had left because I was sick he said that it was for the best, and I should take care of myself. They may be snotty angels, but they are cute sometimes!
