I don't feel sick anymore! Whoop whoop!

I went to work today and survived. The kids were...challenging today. 3 days of subs + 2 day weekend = forgetting how to behave in my class. For homework they have to try and remember how we behave in my class. Hopefully most do the homework and come to school ready to learn tomorrow!

In other news, I went to the gym tonight. I went to a very small boxing class; Just me and a couple of guys. I felt a little outnumbered...Luckily the guys in my class (who are uber fit) are really nice and supportive of little me bouncing around and doing my best. I worked f&#*ing hard tonight. When I got into my car I ran my hands through my hair and my head felt like I had just washed my hair!

My plan for the week is this:

M - Boxing (done!)
T - Weights
W - Boxing
T - Rest
F - Weights
S- Walk/Rest
S - Weights

I have changed my plan of attack slightly at the recommendation of a knowledgeable sparkpeople member. I have been advised to make strength a priority over cardio, and do 3 days strength, 2 cardio and 2 rest. Since I am enjoying my new weights routine I figured I may as well try it for a few weeks and see how I go. I certainly didn't lose when I was a cardio bunny, so it won't hurt to try this ratio and see if I lose anything. I will be doing this for all of March and then I will reflect and review for April.

    I've been told to keep strength and cardio even, but to skip cardio if anything, at least in the earlier phases. Building muscle means not only compacting appearance, but burning more calories in base metabolism. I'm trying to do strength work 3 times per week and cardio 5-6x but I have a slow natural metabolism and need the cardio boost to "get to normal". Yay boxing!

    Amen honey! I wasn't losing either when I was just on the cardio. You were the one who told me to get off of the treadmill and onto the strength machines. I have you to thank for my weight loss ;) Good on you!

    So hows the the schedule going??? Maybe I should do something like this. I just ulternate my gym classes and mix in free weights training in between. My rest days are sunday and monday. Hope things are going well for you. Rock on!! emoticon

My big day

Yeah, you know you have been sick when the following seems like a big day...

emoticon Took my car in for a service and new battery. I am terrible at getting this done, and it has been ages. Luckily my car is indestructable, because there was nothing wrong with it besides needing a new battery. I already knew the battery was shot because we have to jumpstart it at least once a week. Fun, huh?

emoticon I sold 3 of my university textbooks! YAY! I have 3 more that I hope will sell in the next week.

emoticon I went and paid off some of my layby. I have my engagement ring, wedding ring, eternity ring and Russell's wedding ring on layby. We got them before my staff discount went bye bye and we are slooooowly paying them off. We really can't afford them but there is no way we could have gotten them without my staff discount so we are making it work.

This is my engagement ring. Yeah, it is perdy! Should be all paid off in a month, and then he can propose whenever he feels like it (hint:soon)


emoticon I am cooking dinner tonight! Seafood pasta, my fave! I do it in a lemon and white wine sauce, no cream, so very spark approved. I might even post the recipe later on tonight!

    Oooh pretty! It's always worth it to take advantage of discounts even if things get tricky for a bit. Dan was tight for money when he bought my engagement ring but my dad's personal jeweler did it at cost, so he made 1/3 of what it's worth retail. Yay shiny! Hint hint hint, Mr. Bubble!

Does illness burn calories?

I swear, for the past 3 days I have been hungry all the time. I eat and then I'm hungry 30 minutes later. I am eating as normally as possible, but boy, I am starving! Being sick must burn heaps of calories, because I am losing despite eating so much.

In other news, I am feeling better today. Glad I have another sick day, but if I needed to I could have worked today. I am taking another day off from working out, but I will be back at it tomorrow. I plan on hitting the gym and doing some weights. Nothing too much and if I feel sick I will stop. 3 days of complete rest should be enough, and to be honest I think that too much rest is a bad thing. Gotta ease back into it sometime, so it may as well be tomorrow. I hope to be back to my normal self by Monday, wish me luck!

In other, other news...Cake pops. Yep. Cake covered in chocolate and sprinkles on a stick from my local cupcakery. I had one. It was amazing. Don't look at me in that tone of voice, I'm sick after all!

Being sick is good for weight loss + March Madness

Firstly, I weighed this morning. I (try) to 'officially' weigh in on the first and last of the month to get exact figures, and also once a week on the weekend. Unfortunatly that means that once a month I weigh in 3 times in one week. It is working for me so far, so we shall just go with it. Well I weighed this morning for my March start weight, and I lost 500g over night. I weighed myself twice, just to be be sure the scale/my mind weren't playing tricks. So my weigh in's for the past 3 days have been 82.4, 82.1 and 81.6. Yay downwardness! YAY already losing .5 of a kg in March! I was due for a loss anyways, because I lost next to nothing in February, so I am happy.

Today I am feeling much better. I am still in bed at 11.30am and am only getting up for food, water and bathroom stops. My hunger is still off the charts, and I want a McChicken burger more than words can say.

Safeinmyframe is doing this March challenge, and I am going to join her. Why not, right? We are going to do 2 normal planks instead of side planks, and I am going to angled push ups (on my stairs) instead of regualr ones. YAY for modification. I am excited to get started, and to see if my the end of March I can do a couple of full push ups again!
