Too much junk today...

Sunday, February 19, 2012

Today I ate: 2 servings of chocolate mint cookies (NEVER take the bag. ALWAYS portion into a bowl!), a strawberry ice cream, made with real strawberries AND a chocolate ice cream. Oops. Should have eaten one of those treats, not all of them! Deep breath, tomorrow is a new day!

My exercise of the day was swimming at my in laws. I did a few laps and then splashed around, but made sure I was always moving, even if it was just laying on my back and kicking my feet. My thighs are sore, so I must have done something right!

Tomorrow I have a big container of rock melon and pears for my lunch tomorrow, with some crackers and hummus. Yummy. I am also going to the gym after work for some weights and a boxing class. THEN I am having dinner with my bestie and her new boyfriend. I haven't met him yet, so I'm excited. I am taking my boyfriend, so it is a double date! Off to look at the menu to make a good choice!

You're right, it's a new day just waiting for you to make smart choices.

I had to google rock melon and I see it's what we call cantaloupe. I grew those in my garden last summer and had them in abundance. Yummy!

Not so good choices happen to all of us, for me more often lately; but there is always a new day to make better choices and find balance. Good luck! emoticon

I had apple pie for dinner tonight. I think I just got too excited about being able to eat without being sick and wanted dessert for dinner haha.

Tomorrow is a new day and another chance to make different choices :)

Have fun on the double date.

Who would have thought...

Saturday, February 18, 2012

...that after years of avoiding strength work I am finally admiting that I like it? Well I do! I always thought it would be soooo boring, but it isn't, because I am only doing something for 2-3 minutes at a time! After that I move on to the next machine/move. Perfect for my easily bored and hyperactive little brain! I am going to do my strength tomorrow and make an appointment for an assessment and a new programme with the gym trainer. I have upped all my weights at least twice since beginning the programme and have gone from holding a plank for 15 seconds to holding for 30! I would like a programme that is longer (currently 20 minutes) and that uses more free weights (currently all machine except for the plank, to get me used to being in the strength area).

In other news, I 'came out' on facebook. Announced my weight loss to date. So far the only comments I have been getting are telling me not to lose anymore (hey, thanks person who hasn't seen me in 10 years, but you have no idea what my weight is) and telling me that 5kg in 6ish weeks is too much too soon (it is 800g per week, which is fine) and asking me if I have done a cleanse or something! Hint for my facebook friends, the correct responce is "yay, great work!". Now I know why I confine my weight stuff to spark, y'all are so much nicer and more understanding!

Just a quick blog

Friday, February 17, 2012

Hi, I'm here. Took a rest day today so I could have a wine with an old workmate, and then dinner with my boyfriend. Priorities.

I weighed in at 82.3kg this morning, which means I have lost 5kg since the start of the year! YAY!

Loving my job. My kids are awesome.

Good night!

Help me to decide

Thursday, February 16, 2012

I have a question, and it is kinda silly...

OK so at school I have duty 3 times per week. Essentially I walk around the school for 15 minutes a day. I try to keep a good pace up, but I don't break a sweat. Since I am moving for more than 10 minutes I am wondering if I should track it? I only quick track, no calorie tracking. Is this cheating myself, or would you count it? Hmmm...decisions!

In other news, I had pizza for dinner last night. Dominos pizza does a personal sized pizza range and they are all under 400cal. Not bad for dinner. I mean, it's not exactly health food, but it is a portion and calorie controlled treat. YAY for those! Although, the guy at the counter told me that I should just get a big pizza, since they were only $1 more. He told me the personal pizzas were a rip off. Well, yeah, they are, but I ordered the small one for a reason... He backed off after I pretty much said that as an adult he can assume that I can read and do maths for myself and I wanted my little pizza. I would have been nicer, but he was pretty rude too.

Anyways, I am wiped and going to bed. I love my children, but they are exhusting. Tomorrow we have a spelling test, some reading, some maths and find NZ cities on a map (which they are LOVING)...

I shall leave you with a few gems...

PE teacher: Put the hand you write with in the air. The other hand if the one the glove goes on.
Child: But what if you can write with both? I'm a...whatcha call it...equallateral!
Me: LOL!

Me: And why is Queenstown an important NZ city?
Child: Because the Queen lives there!
Awww, nice try child

Ditto what Paraselenic said, I think. It's part of your normal routine. You need to go above and beyond to push past maintaining right?

I wish our Dominos did personal sized pizzas. I'd spend "too much" to have portion control for sure.

I giggled at your funnies from the kiddos. My hubby always says that if someone can write with both hands they are amphibious. He knows the correct term, he's just being silly.

I'm inclined to say that no I wouldn't count the duty walks as part of your exercise.

PARASELENIC 2/16/2012 11:29AM

I would not track it as exercise. If you count every step you take, then include it in your steps.

I think a major pitfall many sparkers fall into is tracking EVERY MOVEMENT-- and then being shocked that they aren't losing any weight. If you walk two blocks every day to the bus stop, that walk was a part of your daily life that got you into the bad shape that you're in-- it's the real exercise, the EXTRA effort that counts towards your weight loss.

I don't track my 1-2 mile daily walks with my dog. There is a lot of stop and go, smell this, now run over here and smell this for 5 minutes-- it's not a sweaty workout-- it's akin to shopping at Target.

I do track my jogs-- the intentional exercise beyond what I would normally do, the exercise that is there exclusively as a tool to help me lose weight.

Just my two cents.

I'd count the steps. I record the time I do yoga in the fitness minutes. It's not cardio but I am doing something to increase my flexibility. I don't always break a sweat walking but I feel good doing it. Record away!

I would count it towards my steps walked but not my cardio workout... unless your heart rate gets up a bit...

I love the ball glove story!!

Have a great day!

You don't have to sweat... does your heart rate increase? I think you could count it... but I'm by no means an expert.

Loved your pizza hut story! First b/c I love pizza hut and haven't had it in a long time... you're tempting me! LOL But also b/c I also get SO annoyed when workers at restaurants, movie theaters, etc. "push" the bigger portions for the better value - ugh! And I wish I had the guts to tell them I'm smart enough to read and do basic math!!
