My first day of strength work

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Today I toddled off to the gym for my first day of strength work. And work I did. Built up quite a sweat in the weights area, before I went and did my cardio programme. Since the strength part is short (15 minutes) my trainer said that I could follow it with my cardio programme to make it worth my while coming to the gym. However, I may up my leg weights, since they felt a little easier. My arms burned, though!

The 'plan' (not that I have a plan, because it is easier to stick to a non-plan. Failure is too easy with a firm plan) is to do strength, followed by cardio, twice per week, and cardio another 2-3 times per week. Hopefully that will help the weight fall off a little easier :)

I went and set up my class today. I put up posters, did my seating plan, stocked my library corner and organised and planned. Then I came home and laminated resources. The fun life of a teacher, yes? Luckily a senior teacher was at school with me today to answer all my stupid questions and give me some tips. Everyone at the school is so nice and supportive which will really help in the coming weeks and months. I am having a day off teacher stuff tomorrow but heading back into school on Friday to finish most of the setting up!

I like your non-plan for workouts. Building muscle will help your body burn fat all on its own. Nice!

How exciting to set up your classroom! I'm glad to hear you have nice and supportive folks at school to turn to for your questions. Enjoy your Thursday off from doing teacher stuff.

This weeks menu

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

I'm posting this because I am bored, and I like knowing what other people are eating because it gives me ideas. Maybe this will give someone dinner ideas?

Monday - Sesame chicken (Spark recipe) with brown rice and broccoli
Tuesday - Chicken stirfry with cabbage, bok choy, broccoli and carrot, served on singapore noodles with teriyaki sauce
Wednesday - Spaghetti and meatballs with pasta sauce - Make better with turkey or chicken meatballs! (Mine are just beef mince) Served with broccoli
Thursday - Slow cooker deviled sausages with steamed potatoes, silverbeet and broccoli
Friday - TACO NIGHT!!!!! Again, you could make it healthy with chicken or turkey mince, but we prefer beef
Saturday - Lamp chops with corn cobs and broccoli
Sunday - Slow cooker beef stew with potato and broccoli

Right, so from that we can all see the broccoli is on special for 98c a head at the moment. And I love broccoli! It is my favourite veggie!

I realise not all of these recipes are super healthy...and they aren't supposed to be. Deviled sausages are high in calories, so I only have 1 sausage and load up on the veggies. Tacos aren't awesome (well they taste awesome, but you know what I mean), so I have 2 and call it a treat dinner (it is Friday, after all!). And I load up the salads.

Anyways, that might give someone a dinner idea for the week!

I lost 3oog and gained teaching resources

Monday, January 23, 2012

Another "YAY!" morning. Stepped on the scales to discover I am down another 300g, which gives me a total of 3.4kg for the month. I wonder if I can do another 600g by the 28th, to give me 4kg in 4 weeks...? Thats my goal, but any loss is good!

So I went to visit my aunt today. She has recently retired from teaching due to health issues (and she is in her 70's! She would still be teaching if she was well). When she left teaching she kept her 'essentials'; What she would need to start up a class if she was well enough to teach again. Well she has decided that day won't come, so guess who got all of her resources? There is no room left in the boot (North Americas: Trunk) of my car and my front seat is pretty full as well. There is so much stuff! Everything from books, to unit plans, to pictures for my walls. Everything. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Saves me a lot of work, time and money!

In a minute I am off to the gym to do my new strength routine with a trainer. I LOVE the YMCA! I get a free programme written for me and 2 free sessions with the trainer every 6 weeks. Pretty darn sweet! Wish me luck!

My first Sunday off in months!

Saturday, January 21, 2012

I managed the shop on Sundays and Mondays, so today is my first Sunday off in a while. And I like it!

emoticonI wish it wasn't raining, because I would have loved to have walked to the Farmers Market today. But there is always next week!

emoticonSo my exercise for today is going to be my cardio programme at the gym, which is a quick 30-40 minute workout. Just have to wait until Russell uploads a new disc of Gilmore Girls onto the ipod and I am off!

emoticon I am also going to do a little teacher shopping. Just need a few bits and bobs...It is dangerous because I generally get a little out of hand and buy waaaaay more than I need!

emoticon I am down another 100g to bring my total weight loss to 3.1kg in 22 days. I would LOVE to lose 4kg in 4 weeks...I wonder if I can do it? I currently weight 84.2, which is what I weighed when I gave up last time. I WILL NOT GIVE UP THIS TIME. DO YOU HEAR ME, BOOTY? YOU ARE GONE!

emoticon I have been experiementing with eating a little more in the morning. I usually have a piece of toast with peanut butter, but the last few days I have been adding a piece of fruit as well. I feel waaaaay too full, but breakfast holds me over for longer now and I usually skip my morning snack (which is good for busy days when I don't have time to have a snack)

emoticon This is the longest blog ever. If you have made it this far then you get a star emoticon

Hope you had fun teacher shopping!

You're doing an amazing job with dropping the kg! Keep it rollin'!

And...you're smart to experiment with your morning meal. Hopefully you'll find just the right combo that works for you.

So the spanner didn't hurt!

Thursday, January 19, 2012

After yesterday and the lunch problem (what I wanted to/planned on ordering was no longer available and I had to pick on the fly) and having dessert I thought I was in for a gain. Not to be! I stepped on the scales this morning (2nd time in 2 days, gah, I shouldn't but I wanted to know!) and I am down another 200g! Thats 500g this week and a grand total of 3kg in 3 weeks! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
