Doctors, haircuts and pics!

Hi all.

Doctors last night. I have an inflamation /infection going on in my lungs. That explains why I haven't been able to breathe lately. I am on steriods for 7 days and antibiotics for 10 to clear it up. Until then the working out will be on hold. If I can't breathe sitting still there is no way I will be able to breathe running around! Finger crossed that next week will be better and I can get back to the working out!

I had a hair trim and restyle. Observe:


My hairdresser kept talking about how nice my curls are. I just nodded. I don't like them much. In fact probably the only thing I would change about myself is my hair (and my weight, obviously!). Alas it shall stay curly. Stoopid genetics. I have the exact same hair as my mum.

And the view from my house was so pretty when I got home that I just had to share! Using my new panorama feature on my new camera.

Lets talk about the gym, baby

Let me start by saying this: It has been 4 days since my last assignment and the withdrawls are getting better. Seriously, it is weird to have NOTHING to do on my days off and in the evenings. My time is my own. I am both loving it and concerned by it.

So this morning I toddled off to the gym, like a good girl. No working out in...ummm...9 days, so I thought I'd get a good spinning class in. No go. Spinning teacher was sick. I could have cried. There was no other classes on either! So I went and used the gym.

Yuck. I lasted 24 minutes before I wanted to tear my hair out. I was sooooooo bored! Apart from running on the treadmill for 5 minutes (didn't wanna push it after 8 months off!) I hated every minute.

I love my classes. I now know that I need my classes! I need the social interaction of boxing, the spinning instructor telling me what to do and when to do it, the pump instructor deciding what I am doing next and not letting me stop even for a second.

My name is Jess and I am a class-a-holic.

I have also signed up for a 6K in December, 10 days before my 23rd birthday. This should aide my plan to start running again. I really enjoyed by 5 minutes this morning! And I know that 5 minuts on the treadmill = 1 minute on the ground for me, so at least I still have some running fitness!

    I TOTALLY agree with you! I have been doing kickboxing and bands classes since January, and I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to get back on the treadmill or eliptical EVER. I don't even know if I'll be "a runner" again either, which is surprising because that used to be the only thing I LOVED!

    What is spinning? I have never heard of it before. I tried the Gym thing and it was really boring and I really felt dumb because I don't know the equipment, but I never even thought of taking some type of class. Is it expensive? Thanks for posting.

So I heard on Oprah (or somewhere nearly as reliable) that sometimes it is good to take a week off from working out, especially if you have been working out consistantly for a while (say, 3 months).

So I took the week off. And I feel wonderful. Sometimes the body just needs to rest! Mine certainly did. I don't feel bad about taking the week off. Not at all. I was tired, busy and sick, and I needed to take a break!

Back to it tomorrow, with a 9am spinning class.

And, as a side note, I have noticed very little change in my body shape and have only gained 300g (and I fluctuate a lot anyways). So one week off will not kill me (or you!) if it is needed.

My eating was bad, but not much bad food was consumed...If that makes sense. I probably ended up eating maintenence calories for the week. No binging, but definatly not enough fruit!

    I agree, we need a break once in a while. Sundays are my break from exercising, but I still watch what I eat-subconsciously at least.

    I completely understand what you mean. Back in September, I went on vacation from work, from eating, from exercising. I was gone for 2 weeks and did very little. I had gained a little but once I was home from vacation, I was ready to get back into the groove.

OK, 3rd blog post of the day. Yeah, I know. Deal.

Just discussing the week with my family. We complied a list of what has gone wrong. Here it is

- Flights cancelled, resulting in rebooking and stress
- My great uncle died
- Russell's cat died
- My mum had her stitches and staples out and is in a lot of pain
- My grandpa had a fall and cracked his kneecap. He can't drive and I become sole gopher since my dad is going away and my mum can't drive either.
- My grandad is sick with a cold but his heart isn't coping
- My parents car blew up and is going to cost $5000 to fix

I think thats it. Thats enough. I think we have had our share of bad luck for the whole year.

    Oh my god. Dude that is crazy. The good news is next week has to be better. It can't be any worse. Once you get this behind you you've got to do something for yourself. Play golf go fishing whatever you like to do. And drink a few adult beverages to take the edge off you deserve it. I hope everybody who is sick and hurting gets better soon.
