Just a quick note today because I am on an assignment roll! It helps that this assignment is very interesting. Today I interviewed a Sudanese refugee about her experience and now I am writing about it and relating it to the theory. It is actually very interesting!

I've been so busy that I didn't tell y'all that my baby had surgery yesterday! She got into a fight with another cat and the other cat bite a hole in her tail. It was gross. So we carted her off to the vet who stitched her up. She was very stoned when we got her home yesterday. Cats coming off anestetic are very funny. She mainly just slept on me and when she got bored of that she tried to walk, but couldn't and would just fall over. Poor baby. She is doing fine now and apart from not sitting down she is back to normal!

Now I better get back to the books. I want to have a good amount done before Off The Map comes on in 30 minutes! I am learning Spanish at uni, so watching it is technically study!!!

Ooh, I want to hear about the Sudanese refugee and what you end up writing. Also, poor kitty! Also, thanks for the write-up on Auckland! I was hoping you'd do that! Between Auckland and Wellington, which is artier -- like, where would the funky artists live, where would there be a hippie population, or goth/punk population, or a density of actors, writers, musicians? Just curious. I'm pretty sure I asked you if you knew of the handful of NZ actor/performers I'm friends with...right? Or was that the other NZ Sparkperson on my friends list? I am old, and my mind gets fuzzy so very often...

Your assignment of interviewing the Sudanese refugee and writing about it sounds very interesting.

Sorry your kitty got into a fight but glad she's going to be okay. My two orange cats, who are litter mates, are fighting with each other like crazy lately.

Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most ****** up things with

My friend Jemma. We used to get up to all kinds of trouble. Until she had a baby and moved to Aussie :( But she is still the person I have done the weirdest stuff with!!

Gone Fishin

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Picture blog will resume tomorrow. For today, c-c-c-check out what I did!

It involved getting up at 4.45. AM. They do a 4.45 in the morning now too. I was shocked.

I went fishing! And had a blast. But I am super tired so I will just show you what I did instead of telling you.

My catches. I had to throw them both back, they were too small!

I was COMPLETELY clueless about fishing. Everytime I got a nibble, a bite or needed my hook baited I would turn to the man next to me (who I called Nice Mr Fisherman, but apparently he prefered to be called by his real name, go figure) and say "What do I do?!?!?!?!". Luckily this man and many others (and some ladies too) were happy to help me out. I'm not above fluttering my eyelashes to get some help and to avoid touching the bait.

I also drank sparkling wine from a bottle, because a can would have been tacky

I was a good girl, just the one drink!

I love this lady!

And then we headed back to shore.

A great day was had by all :) Now if you'll excuse me I have a hot date with my pillow.

Looks fun [I've never been fishing]...except for handling the icky bait...which you so gracefully avoided! LOL

And the scenery...beeyooteefull!!

Um, I am kind of confused over here. So, let me get this straight: You woke up when it was STILL DARK OUTSIDE (I'm guessing), in order to sit in a boat (which I do understand -- I have sat in boats, and it was a lovely experience, but I did so at normal hours of the day and night, after getting an ample amount of sleep) and catch fish, which you then discarded, so that when you returned home, you did not have food, or treats, or money, or payment, or fame, or extra college credits, or a trophy or other prize of any kind to show for the experience. Not even a t-shirt? Did you at least get a t-shirt?

Where I live, in Minnesota, where we are covered in ice for about 2/3 of the year, people do exactly what you just did, except instead of sitting in a boat on water, they sit on a wee stool on the FROZEN lakes/rivers and dangle their fishing pole through a hole (not a euphemism, sadly). For hours. And often return home with nothing. This seems even MORE unpleasant, and also leaves me asking "why?".

A picture of someone who has gotten me through the most

I had to think long and hard about this one. And my answer is 2 someones!

My 2 best friends, Diane and Russell!

I will go to either of them but it depends on why I am upset or what is wrong.

I love them both :D

Picture blog - Day 8

Friday, March 18, 2011

Day 8 is a picture that makes me laugh. OK!

This is my ex flatmates cat wrapped in a happy birthday sign. The cat didn't mind, I swear. This picture still makes me giggle. My friend did it as a joke and the cat walked around quite happily for about half an hour.

Eating was so so today. Not great, not as bad as I wanted it to be. Craved some bad food, had a bit of chocolate, I'll call it a draw. Not a win, not a loss.

And...I'm sleepy! The cat and I are gonna head to bed!
