900g lost this week

I lost nearly a kilo this week! Yeehaaaaaaa!

I hope this keeps up! I've been watching what I have been eating and limiting sweets. And drinking more water, which I got very very bad at in the past couple of weeks.

I have also started to have an afternoon snack. I usually race home STARVING and then eat anything and everything I can. Now I take 5 minutes about 30 minutes before closing and I eat something. Nothing fancy, just an apple or a special K barb but it holds me over until dinner and stops my manic after work snacking.

Weighing every day is working for me so I will keep it up. I have been writing my weight on the side of my fridge in whiteboard marker for no other reason than it is a convenient place to write it.

    Haha love the fridge idea - although for the next week I'm staying at my parents house (with 9 others!!!) so even weighing myself means yelling "I'm stripping in the corner don't come this way!!" hahaha yep it's as crazy as it sounds :)

Such an awesome job on your healthy and extremely smart eating (re the afternoon snack)... You rock!!!!

Weighing daily

OK I've started doing something that is usually frowned upon in weight loss communities. I'm weighing myself everyday.

I know about weight fluctuations and the like, but this is really helping to keep me on track! When I weighed weekly it was easy for me to ignore the weigh in all week and just be good the day before I weighed. This way I am mindful everyday because I see the number everyday. If I get to the point where I am weighing multiple times a day I will change my habit, because that is obsessive, but at this stage I am just weighing first time in the morning after a bathroom stop. And I'm noticing a downward trend! Not much, but a couple of hundred grams here and there. It is encouraging!

Eat in month is going very well. The only slip we had was getting an ice cream from McDonalds, but no full meals out. Russell has been experiementing a bit more in the kitchen too, which is helping. Last night he made a yummy pasta dish with some garlic and EVOO and tonight he is cooking up some steak that he marinated with potatoes and bok choy. Yummy! Off to eat dinner

    I think if it works for you then why not? It can be a great way to help you stay on your toes with your food every day, as well as to understand the fluctuation patterns.

Great job on seeing a downward trend! Those small amounts add up in a big way over time!

    I take it week by week - meaning some weeks i weigh in daily and others I force myself to wait a whole week. It is good motivation for the 'wait' to weigh in weeks to work really hard to see a big change. (For me that's 1-2 pounds!)

If you start to feel like your scale is laughing at you, go back to weekly.

    I weighed daily for a while before going back to weekly. It was so that I could understand the reason for fluctuations in my weight, which weighing weekly didn't give me. I found it very helpful. :-)

Calories I didn't eat today

OK, instead of focusing on the 500 calories over my "budget" that I did eat today, I'm going to talk about the calories I DIDN'T eat.

- I didn't get a sticky cinnamon roll from the Bakers Delight near work
- I also didn't get a sugary energy drink to go with the cinnamon roll
- I didn't go into the chocolate shop and get a duo brownie pie. Yes, it is amazing. Yes I can post you some...

So there ya go. Ya win some, ya loose some. I also had a piece of fruit for an afternoon snack instead of the foods listed above.

So, I did have chocolate for dessert, but I didn't have everything I wanted, so I'm calling in a win.

Andplusalso February is Eat in Month. According to me. No eating out/takeaways/coffees for a whole month. This should cut down on calories and spending. Who would like to join me?

    Good job not eating those calories!!
We try to eat in mostly, but we're not very good at it. And February I have a big conference for 4 days, so definitely will be eating out. But eating healthy! Grilled chicken, here I come! lol

A swim and a nana nap

Hey all. Again, busy busy busy!

I got some exercise in today, a 30 minute swim in the sea. The water was blue, the sky was blue, the hills were alive with the sound of music. I live in a beautiful place and I love it! I managed to have a good swim. So good that I got home and ended up falling asleep on the couch! After about 40 minutes Russell woke me up and relocated me to our bed where I slept for another 2 hours. It was awesome. I love naps. Days off are days for naps!

Russell has decided he wants to loose some weight with me. It will be good to have a buddy in real life to loose some weight with! Unless one of my fab spark buddies wants to move to NZ... Just saying. He wants to loose about 6kg and I still want to loose 20kg. Back where I started, again. Gotta get my big butt to the pools and try out the local gym. Not being able to run has really put a spanner in the works. It is easier to put some shoes on and walk out the door than to drive to the pools/gym and pay to get in. Ah well, I'll ajust.

How is everyone else?

Update on the ol' knee

I got 1 and a half days off this week. Yesterday I zoomed out of work at 1pm. Ya know those cartoons where the character speeds away and then it cuts to a shot of their hat spinning on the floor? It was an exit like that. I then went home and out to lunch. I then spent the rest of the afternoon laying on the couch reading a good book, then went and got myself a massage. Well deserved, I though!

Today I didn't do much either. I'm being honest with you. I did, however, go to the physio.

It was a locum because my usual guy is on holiday, but it was good to get a second opinion. She confirmed my diagnosis of a pulled tendon and torn miniscus. I was poked and proded, massaged and stretched. And now I hurt. A lot. All I can really do is ice and rest it, as well as biking and swimming.

Thats all for now. I'm sleepy.

    Hey Jess...I ve been away a bit so I am behind in all your news...So sorry to hear about your knee. You are doing the right things, letting those physio people do their poking and prodding..At least you know what you've got to work with..Cheers to you for trying to find what activity you can do..Don't fuss trying to do anything but your day to day stuff ( which, phewww is tons!!)..Better that you rest it, ice it ( and save some ice for a drink or two :-)...and get it better. Sending healing wishes your way ..Take care my friend
