Facing up to it

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

I changed my starting weight and reset my goals. It needed to be done. Gotta face reality. At least I am still trying, I suppose. Did really well all day today until a friend text me asking to hang out and we ended up at McDonalds. I had sweets. I didn't even really want them. Oh well, I did mainly good and I walked today, so its not a total bust.

Off to make my yummy lunch for tomorrow :) Smoked chicken and spinach in a mini whole wheat pita pocket with a little blob each of aioli and pesto. Yummy! And a banana and a tangelo off the tree in my backyard.

Never easy when you are out and about to avoid places like MacDonald's sadly.
Love the sound of your lunch though. :-)

Your lunch and snackies sound sooo good! Lucky you to be able to pick bananas and tangeloes from a tree in your own back yard!

Wow...I can't imagine being able to pick a fresh banana and tangelo off a tree in my backyard! That would be so nice. I love both of those. I live in the Pacific NW, so it's a little too cool here for that. But we are able to enjoy peaches...which is a real favorite! Yum Yum! Keep up the good work! emoticon

Food shopping Success

Monday, November 29, 2010

There really isn't much point in this blog. It is mainly a "go me" because I had a successful food shop yesterday. Here is what made it successful:

*I made a list and stuck to it (For the most part. There was some mircowavable flavoured rice packs that were 2 for 1, so I got a couple because the ingredient list is respectable and the calories a good. The also travel well, making them the perfect work lunch)

*I made the list based on ingredients that would make a meal (I have beef mince, chicken stock and pasta, all I needed was greens and I could make a good soup, so I got greens)

*I got fruits and veggies that I would eat. No point pretending I like apples, they bore me. A pineapple though...Now we're taking! Lettuce is blah, I got baby spinach, broccoli and pak choy.

*I got lunchables so I don't have to buy my lunch at work. I will be having smoked chicken and spinach mini pita pockets at work this week! I can't wait to go to work and eat my lunch!

*I avoided the junk food aisles. I didn't even go down them! No point tempting myself

*I did get peanut butter. Peanut butter on toast with some fruit is a quick dinner when I can't be bothered cooking. I can limit my peanut butter servings, so it should be OK

*I went alone. No boyfriend asking for coke, chips etc. No holding someone up while I read ingredient lists and calculated calories.

So there ya go, my successful shopping trip. I'm about to get up and go on a nice long walk around my new area. I feel like just walking and zoning out for a while so who knows how long I'll be gone for!

Peanut butter and jelly is a great meal! Especially if you use a fruit spread like Polaner and the reduced fat Jif, delicious and good protein!

Tiri Tiri trail (pics)

Saturday, November 27, 2010

5km and 80 minutes later, we finished the Tiri Tiri trail, a 15 minute drive from our house. It took way less time than we though and it was a good workout!

Since ya'll love the pics I made sure to take some for ya!

The view driving down to the beach

NZ christmas tree starting to bloom

The tide was in (and we wished we had our togs!)

We got to the top of the first hill and enjoyed the view

(Look at how clear that water is. OMG we couldn't believe it! )

More views

Enjoyed the local wildlife

Saw Tiri Tiri Matangi Island (hence the trail name!)

Found some stairs down to the water and the boyfriend went for an explore!

(Again with the clear water!)

Rangitoto in the distance

Tired and hot walkers

And a few more pics of the beautiful views

Hope everyone enjoyed the pics!

What were the temps on this day? It looks just like summer. We are dealing with really cool wet weather right now....It's only in the 30's right now. Burrrr...and hubby is building a fire and I'm getting ready to get into bed and get a good nights rest.
Again...Much Thanks! emoticon emoticon

I'm dreaming of a sunny christmas

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Just like the ones I used to know!

It is finally hot and sunny here. Even though its overcast today it is still hot! To me, in lil' ol' NZ that means christmas (and my birthday!) is coming!

My birthday is in 2 weeks and I have decided to go to Rainbows End for it. Rainbows End is a theme park here, like disneyland but tiny and the mascots are called Rai and Bow. I know, I know, I'm 22 and want to go to a theme park. But I have my reasons! I like the rides, I like running around like an idiot and acting like a kid again and I have a friend who is muslim and since they don't serve alcohol she can come! And since my birthday is a Tuesday and the primary kids aren't on summer holidays yet it won't be too crowded. AND everyone I want to come can come because my boyfriend and best friend teach at colleges (on school holidays) and my friend from uni is obviously on holidays like me. So there. After, we will drop little girl (my muslim friend, I call her little girl coz she is tiny) off and the remaining 3 will go out to dinner with my parents, and I shall have a cocktail and dessert. So a semi kid, semi grown up birthday and I am really looking forward to it!

After that work will get mega busy for the next month. Retail at christmastime = madness

On a spark related note, I wanted to be at my goal weight in 2 weeks. Yeah, that ain't happening. All I can do its my best, maybe I can move a few Kg before then? I'm gonna start tracking and try to stay around 1300 for the next 2 weeks, as well as working out 3-4 days a week. Lets try for 5lb before my birthday!

On another spark related note, if my boyfriend ever decides to wake up we are going hiking. BEST AND MOST FUN WAY TO BURN CALORIES, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something stupid like 500 an hour (we should take around 2 hours) and the scenery is amazing AND you guys get pictures. So, really, I'm doing this for you (Carla), all for you. The trail is only a 15 minute drive away and according to the directions should be pretty easy to find. YAY for fun sparking!!!!!!!!!

The End

emoticon And I really do appreciate all the pics you take and share! I cannot imagine having scenery like that in my own back yard.

Theme parks are not just for kids! While I don't ride rides, I know many adults who just LOVE theme parks and make a day out of it many times a year. Sounds like a great way to spend a birthday if you ask me! (So I'm guessing your birthday is December 7?) 5 lb is very doable by then!

Nothing much new to report team

I'm working heaps, which is good because I need money, but bad because I get home from being on my feet for 10 hours and the last thing I wanna do is work out or stand around cooking. Hopefully I will be able to afford some better shoes soon so my feet won't be so sore.

Work is going well, my boss is happy with me and I am happy with the job. I have won both of the staff incentives so far, which is awesome :) The last one that I won was for a $20 voucher for the store so I treated myself to some new earrings. They are purdy!

The new house is good and I love the area. Just a shame about all the working, it doesn't leave much time for getting out and about!

Ummmm I think thats all. Same old!

Sounds like you are settling in quite well, and I'm sure it won't be long before you have a routine together that you are happy with. :-)
Good luck with the shoes. I can't bear sore feet.

Ditto on the Sketchers shoes. I have the Shape Ups and three other Sketcher shoes in my closet right now. If there is a Sketchers store in your area, look there first. The one closest to me here in Arizona offers prices that are way better than those on the Sketchers Web site, with many shoes first marked down from the original suggested price and then available on a buy-one-pair-get-the-second-pair-ha
lf-price basis.

I completely agree with 1DRWOMAN, Sketchers ShapeUps are ridiculously comfortable. I wear them whenever i know i'm going to be on my feet for a while. Good Luck :-)

Congrats on all the goodness that is coming into your life!! If you can wear them, Sketcher Shape Up shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn and have removed back pain!!!! Plus they're kind cute!

Remember planning ahead and keeping it simple will help you during work weeks and even a walk after you get home is better than nothing and good for your brain and soul...not just your booty! :)

You're doing great! Do something nice for yourself and have a great weekend!
