I so miss NZ emoticon! The coast reminds me of Northern California rugged and beautiful. When we lived in Welly we would always go to Waitotara or Kai-lwi to do some surfing. Lyall Bay was so crowded and we liked to get out of the city. I also really liked going to the Remarkables. I went snowboarding on my birthday by Mt Aspiring. Good times. I need to come back because I have some unfinished business with a bugee rope in Queenstown. BTW, you're lookin' good! :)

2 down, 3 to go!

Friday, October 15, 2010

Right, assignments are getting done. Slowly, but they are getting done! I handed in two this week, including one today, and I have one due next week (gender issue) and two the week after (Maths and technology). Technology looks stupidly easy, which generally means I'm missing something. That, or I'm awesome. I hope its the awesome one.

I found out today that I passed my last Maths assignment. Thank cheeseburgers for that, I think I would have jumped off a bridge if I had failed and had to resubmit. A small bridge, but still.

Second job interview went well, despite my 8 hours of sleep in 2 nights. I was soooo tired all day at uni, but managed to perk up for the interview. I should hear back in a couple of days! Crossed fingers and toes are appriciated!

I treated myself a little today. I did get a soy vanilla latte (barely a treat, more like essential) and I may or may not have had a brownie with it. I made my choice, I'm good with it. I also got a massage. I had a knot in my shoulder and a pain in my ass that required massaging, so I got it done. I go to this massage chain in the mall and it is fairly cheap, although not painless. The massage people seem to know exactly what hurts and then make it hurt more. Feels good after. And, yes they actually do massage your bum. Not with hands, with elbows and forearms. I thought it was weird the first time, but I have been to 2 different locations and been massaged by 3 different people, 1 woman and 2 men and they have all done it, so I don't think it is pervy or anything, it is just what they do. Considering I actually needed it today, I'm OK with it.

I went for a run last night. 4 km, and I managed to walk 1k, run 1k, walk 1k, run 1k. Well the last k included a steep hill so I power walked up that and then kept running. It felt good :) I'm enjoying my own running plan. No expectations and they one person I have to answer to is me. On a slightly related note, I listened to the same song on repeat 7 times during my run. I'm addicted, it is so good. It is called Something in the Water by Brooke Fraser. Make your way to your nearest itunes store and download it. I find it the perfect running song. Upbeat, good rhythm. AND it is Kiwi music. Can't get much better then that!

Way to go on gettin' 'er done! I chuckled at your massage description..The sciatic nerve issue I have been working through has required getting my glute massaged ( aka bum) so i know EXACTLY what you mean. My friends can't believe I am going for a massage at all, since I have a fairly large personal space boundary..but to get a butt massage..doesnt get much more personal than that.. emoticon
My therapist is a 28-30 year old male..but at least he is a chatterbox and quite funny, so it relaxes me..
Love keeping up with you ...and am wishing you luck on the job outcome..Remember, regardless of the outcome, you are special person and deserve good things!!

Define success

Thursday, October 14, 2010

The list of popular posts today included one about motivation when you have not had any success.

It got me thinking.

Define success.

Should we measure success by what the scales tell us? If so, I've failed.

Should we measure it by how our clothes feel? I've had some success, noting some of my clothes are fitting better.

Should success be measured by an increase in fitness levels? I would succeed in this instance.

Should success be measured on how good we feel? How our lives are better? How we are improving ourselves a little more everyday?

How do you define success? What makes you successful?

Look and you will find that there is something that you have succeeded at!

Success is doing something that is good for me even when I don't feel like it. Working out when I am tired. Not indulging when I feel the urge. Not letting anyone else define my success.

A few things that pop to mind:
Success is when I can fit into smaller clothing.
Success is when I don't hate how I look in the mirror, or more importantly *liking* what I see in the mirror.
Success is when I keep plugging away even through difficult times.

That's the nice thing about defining success. It can be defined in so many different ways and in so many different senarios.
As long as a person continues to make an effort in achieving their goals, no matter what they are...That is success!

Sunny Study

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Since it is sooooo nice outside today I figured I would study outside in the sunshine. That will make studying better!

I set my study stuff up outside

My books were stacked (looks like interesting reading, huh?)

I had my water and I was ready to study!

And I hit the books. The boring books.

I started to look like this

Then like this

On the bright side, I did get a lot of reading done and I got heaps of notes. And it was very nice outside. So I got snap happy on my studybreaks!

Back to the books!

The job interview went well. I have a second interview tomorrow, with the manager of another branch. The interviewer said he really wanted to fast track me through the interview process, so I think that is a good thing. He seemed pretty happy with my answers, so that was good. I've always been good at job interviews, I don't even get nervous because I always rock them. They are actually fun for me. But since I really want this job I was really hoping to impress.

Will let ya'll know how things go with tomorrows interview.

And yes, I say ya'll. I think in a past life I was from Alabama or somewhere.
