About 30 seconds after I published my last blog post I closed my eyes for just.one.second. I woke up 2 hours later. Hmmm must have used all that new energy learnin stuff at school...or something. By the time I woke up it was dark, and I have a huuuuge bruise on my thigh which hurts when I walk. So, no exercise.

Ya know how when you have a nap and you wake up and you are super groggy? That was me. I asked my boyfriend to clean the kitchen and make dinner. He said no and got pizza instead. So I went over my calories. Not hugely, I'm not going to worry about it, but I went over more then I might like.

Ah well, will do better tomorrow. I can't be perfect and pizza happens. At least because I'm allergic to cheese it was lower in calories!

    I made a rough estimate of around 200cal per slice. Which isn't too bad, but I had 4 slices. Opps. It isn't the worst thing in the world and a slice or 2 with a salad would be an OK occasional dinner. Its just that tonight I had the previously mentioned 4 slices and no salad.

But all is well, I enjoyed it, it was tasty and I'll be right back on track tomorrow :)

    I think that pizza without cheese can't be that bad. You have the crust (grains), veggies, meat (protein) and the sauce.

More energy then before

Today I didn't have a coffee.

Friends were speechless. They asked me what was wrong. Did I not have any money?

No, I had money. I also felt I had enough energy to get through the day without it. That and I didn't want to go over my calorie range with coffee. I'd rather eat the calories!

Which brings me to the point. I am noticing that I have more energy. Not bucket loads or anything, but enough so that I don't HAVE to have a coffee to keep me awake in the morning. It was freeezing so it would have been nice to have something warm to hold though...maybe I need to aquire a taste for herbal tea...

So this is (hopefully) another positive side effect of eating better!

    It is so cold here at the moment that my water is nearly ice cold just coming out of the tap!

Iced coffee...double the awake power, one hit...something to think about!

    Isn't it awesome not to have coffee?! I try to not drink coffee on the mornings I run because it's time away from my wather and I always feel a little more dehydrated when I drink coffee. Don't get me wrong, I love my coffee on my weight lifting days . . . They say that ice water has the same effect on the body as coffee. Not sure if that is true, but just something to think about

Can you imagine what Ice Coffee would do . . . HAHAHA!

I ate well (within my calorie range, small sweet treat), I walked for 4km and I felt amazing at work tonight in my work clothes.

My work clothes are all a little tight and I always feel very aware of my size when I'm wearing them. But tonight I looked in the mirror at work and I felt good.

I know that I have only just started this journey and I haven't lost much, but not being bloated anymore has REALLY made a difference to how I look. I don't look 6 months pregnant anymore! 4 months, maybe emoticon. Not having a huge tummy makes me look better in my clothes and I'm feeling more confident.

So I'm going to bed happy about my day and myself. Ready to get up in... 6 hours for school!

What the hell is happening?

Today I craved a banana. A banana!

What is happening to me? Why did I crave healthy sweet fruit instead of unhealthy sweet chocolate? Is my chocolate addiction subsiding? Was I deficient in something that the banana had? Or was it the fact that the bananas are beautiful and ripe and yellow and they were sitting right infront of me all last night??

Who knows. I'm not gonna question it anymore, I think I shall just go with it!

    maybe you are learning to listen to your body? That banana probably had something you needed and because it looked so yummy AND you knew it was a good idea! Way to go - pass me one!

Food shopping and other things

Today I went food shopping. Good thing too, because we were running low on...everything!

As promised I stocked up on nibbly things for when I get nibbly in the evening. I got Special K bars, rice crackers, kiwifruit, bananas and manderins, as well as gum and sugarfree mints. I have 2 bowls full on my coffee table, one of fruit and one of the other nibblys. Yummy and convenient. I have to move to get anything bad and since I am fairly lazy I am more likely to go for what is right in front of me!

AND in the supermarket they had Maori Language Week signs everywhere, so I learned some new words. Two birds with one stone! Beef is Kau and chicken is Heihei. I didn't remember the word for lamb, which is a shame because that is what we are having for dinner! Lamb with potato and broccoli, delish!


Another problem I have is that when I get hungry I need food now. I go from zero to starving in 3.6 seconds and most of the food I have takes waaaay too long to cook so I end up making bad choices while I wait for my good choices to cook. So I purchased heat and eat meals. This is something I never, ever do but I found some with no cheese so I may as well give them a try. They are 350cal each, and the fat and sodium are reasonable to high. I don't plan on eating them everyday but they should help to get me fed if I'm in a pinch. I plan on adding veggies or a salad to them to bump the nutrition up a bit.

In other news, my walk got rained out :( I shoulda, woulda, coulda done some inside exercise, but I didn't. If it was a drizzle I would have gone anyway, but it was actually raining. I plan on doing my loooooong walk tomorrow instead if the rain stays away.
