Marriage is legal for everyone in NZ! About time, and I hope the rest of the world starts following our lead. We are the 13th country to allow everyone to marry, no matter the sex of the people involved.

I'm not moving to Wellington!
But this goofy guy
is moving to Auckland!
It has all been decided (not organised, he is a boy after all) that when I go to Wellington for a visit on Queens birthday weekend Luke will fly back with me. We will stay with my parents for a couple of weeks until we find somewhere to rent, and then we're out of there and into our own place!
Yes, this is moving fast. It scares me a little to be honest. But we think this is the best decision all around. Wish us luck!!

My alarm went off at 7am this morning. On a Sunday. Luckily I'd gotten an early night, so I was up soon after to get my breakfast of marmite on white toast (the only thing that doesn't give me a cramp while running). I headed off around 8.15, but not before getting my pre race picture
The race started promptly at 8.45. I had my music and running app all queued up so I pressed the go button and started running. And I had a great run. I fell into a steady 6ish minute per km pace for the first 3km, and I kept up with a man and his 7 year old son. I figured if he could keep the pace on little legs then I could do. The second 3k my pace slowed a little, but I was still averaging just over 6 minutes a km, so I was happy. I hit the 5k mark at 30m3s, just shy of my 30 minute goal! Once I hit the last km I picked up the pace, and I kept telling myself that the faster I ran the faster it would all be over. I crossed the line and fell into an empty chair. I had given it everything I had out there, I needed to sit down!

While taking this photo my workmate spotted me... How embarrassing!
The results came in a few minutes ago, and here they are
Time - 36m49s (goal of 37 minutes)
Place - 28/47
Division - 2/6
I am so proud of myself! I met both of my goals (to run the whole thing and to finish in under 40 minutes) and I put everything I had into that race. I couldn't have run it better if I Bruno Mars (yummy yummy) was waiting at the finish line to give me a victory kiss!

I think the title says it all.
This morning I weighed 65.9kg, and tonight I deadlifted 67.5kg. Coz I could. I even did it 4 times, AND I have witnesses!
I was also that annoying advice person at the gym today. Well, I offered to help and it was accepted, I didn't just butt in. I was finishing up my squats (75kg, thank you very much) and had already done my chin ups when I saw a couple of young guys trying to do chin ups. They weren't quite able to so after a bit of ribbing ("come on, even I can do better than that!"), I offered to help. I told them they could say no if they wanted, but I was happy to show them how to use a band to make the chin up easier until they were ready for the real deal. They accepted and I had a chin up lesson with 3 guys. Then they were my deadlift witnesses. They were impressed :D As they should be, really.

I am FINALLY trained for a race. After entering things for motivation for years, and then bombing because the motivation wasn't enough, I finally went out for regular runs. Having a running buddy has really helped. I text him on Sunday and said, "Hands up who can be bothered this afternoon", and he replied, "Me. See you in 15 minutes". So I went for the run and I was a better person for it. It is nice having someone to keep me accountable, and to keep me running.
I'm also the fittest I've ever been. I'm doing weights 3 times a week, boxing twice a week AND running twice a week. Also, I am running faster and running is easier. I think there is actually something to this whole training thing; It seems to be working!
Today, to boost my confidence for Sunday, I completed a 5k run, and my only goal was to run the whole time. Not only did I run the whole time, but I took 45 seconds off my last 5k time AND reduced my average pace by 10 seconds per km AND I finished feeling strong.
I think I am going to be able to meet my goals this weekend, which are to run the whole time and finish is under 40 minutes.
