Today at the gym I squatted more than my body weight. No biggie I squatted 70kg (154lb) and as of this morning I weighed 66.6kg (147lb). Yep. My trainer came over to see what I was doing, and he was very impressed, as he should be
Then my trainer had an idea... He wanted me to try a 60kg (132lb) deadlift . My last deadlifts were 40kg (88lb), but he thought I was capable of more. Turns out he was right. He got the bar ready with me and stayed to watch me do it. He said if my form slipped at all we would can it and try again another time. My first try I couldn't even get it off the ground. Then he corrected my form a little and I had another go. And I did it! I couldn't believe it!! We hi-fived, it was a lovely moment. He wants me up to a body weight (or more) deadlift by next Friday.
Then he told me what my next goal was going to be: Muscle Ups
If I can do these I will declare myself the most badass person in the world.
I really like having a trainer to push me and make me do more than I ever thought I would. I don't even have to pay for PT sessions, he just designs me a program and then takes an interest when I'm at the gym.
