Today at the gym I squatted more than my body weight. No biggie I squatted 70kg (154lb) and as of this morning I weighed 66.6kg (147lb). Yep. My trainer came over to see what I was doing, and he was very impressed, as he should be
Then my trainer had an idea... He wanted me to try a 60kg (132lb) deadlift . My last deadlifts were 40kg (88lb), but he thought I was capable of more. Turns out he was right. He got the bar ready with me and stayed to watch me do it. He said if my form slipped at all we would can it and try again another time. My first try I couldn't even get it off the ground. Then he corrected my form a little and I had another go. And I did it! I couldn't believe it!! We hi-fived, it was a lovely moment. He wants me up to a body weight (or more) deadlift by next Friday.
Then he told me what my next goal was going to be: Muscle Ups
If I can do these I will declare myself the most badass person in the world.
I really like having a trainer to push me and make me do more than I ever thought I would. I don't even have to pay for PT sessions, he just designs me a program and then takes an interest when I'm at the gym.
And, as promised, pictures. Not of my achievements, although I plan on getting some, but of my new guns

Being in a long distance relationship is hard. Really, really hard. We miss each other constantly and we never have enough time together. It can't go on forever, so one of us has to move. Since Luke has a young son (and I would NEVER ask him to move away from him) we decided that I would move. This is a huge decision for me, to move an 8 hour drive/hour flight away from all my family and friends, but it is the right thing to do; We want to be together.
So I made the decision that I would resign from my job effective the end of term 2 (July) and try to find a job in Wellington. If all else failed could always relieve. We started looking at rental properties, discussing who would bring which furniture. So, I was set, I had my references sorted and my CV typed up and I was ready to tell my boss that I was leaving. THEN...
I was offered an AMAZING opportunity at work. Incredible. I can't say much about it for security reasons, but I can say that I am implementing and managing a new program, and other schools may want the same program implemented in the future. It comes with a pay bonus, and will look outstanding on my CV. Did I mention I'm only in my second year of teaching? This is unheard of, for a second year teacher to be offered an opportunity like this. I would be crazy to turn it down. So I haven't.
Long story short, I am staying in Auckland for the rest of the year but I'll be moving as soon as I can at the end of the year, just before Christmas. It was a very hard decision, choosing between the man I love and the career I love. We decided together that opportunities like this don't come around much, and I have invested too much time and money into my career to turn down offers like this. An extra 5 months is manageable. We are committed to our relationship, and we will make this work.
Although it is hard being away from this cute face

Well I’ve been smashing my goals and was at a loss for what to aim for next. I wanted to do a push up last year, and did it. This year it was a chin up, and I did my first unassisted one in March. I told my trainer to think of some new strength goals for me and he did as I asked. My goals for April are as follows:
Weight – Keep maintaining within the 66kg range
Nutrition – Just because I can eat more chocolate doesn’t really mean that I should…
Cardio – Run a 6k without stopping
Strength – Squat my body weight (1.5kg to go)
Deadlift my body weight (27kg to go)
Bench press my body weight (30kg to go)
I am confident that I can squat my body weight next time I'm at the gym and deadlift it by the end of the month. The bench press is my weakest area, and will take more time. I’m hoping to be there by the end of May, but will work on it and get there as soon as I can. I’m also going to continue to work on my chin ups and start working on pull ups.
