    Looking awesome!

20C is just about perfect, although I like it best around 16-17C. I worked outside in my garden this morning and afternoon and didn't break a sweat at all at 16C. I like that!

You look awesome. We had a nice day today too. It wasn't super hot but it did hint at spring coming.

March recap (very late, I forgot to do it!)

Friday, April 05, 2013

Oops! Forgot to recap on my March goals. What a slacker! Here are the goals and the results

Keep maintaining around the 67kg mark (I tend to see numbers anywhere from 66kg (fluke, I think) to 68kg, depending on a lot of factors)
emoticon I bounce around between 66 and 67 most days

Work out 5 times per week (usually 2 boxing and 3 ST, but want to add running back in
emoticon I'm working out most days, and have my weekends with my boyfriend as rest days

Do a pull up without the band
emoticon I am now doing unassisted chin ups every gym session. Averaging 4, my PR was 6!

Run Round the Bays this weekend and not die (I signed up on a whim and haven't trained due to illness, work stuff, being out of town, and general laziness)
emoticon Done and done in 1h3m. I didn't die and it made me realise that I am fitter than I thought I was

Eat 5 servings of fruit and veggies every day. I'm slipping on this one so I need to get back on track!!
emoticon I started having 4 servings at school, plus my 1-2 for dinner. On track!

I'm awesome (pics)

Friday, April 05, 2013

Today at the gym I squatted more than my body weight. No biggie emoticon I squatted 70kg (154lb) and as of this morning I weighed 66.6kg (147lb). Yep. My trainer came over to see what I was doing, and he was very impressed, as he should be emoticon

Then my trainer had an idea... He wanted me to try a 60kg (132lb) deadlift emoticon . My last deadlifts were 40kg (88lb), but he thought I was capable of more. Turns out he was right. He got the bar ready with me and stayed to watch me do it. He said if my form slipped at all we would can it and try again another time. My first try I couldn't even get it off the ground. Then he corrected my form a little and I had another go. And I did it! I couldn't believe it!! emoticon We hi-fived, it was a lovely moment. He wants me up to a body weight (or more) deadlift by next Friday.

Then he told me what my next goal was going to be: Muscle Ups

If I can do these I will declare myself the most badass person in the world.

I really like having a trainer to push me and make me do more than I ever thought I would. I don't even have to pay for PT sessions, he just designs me a program and then takes an interest when I'm at the gym.

And, as promised, pictures. Not of my achievements, although I plan on getting some, but of my new guns

Booya!

New April/May goal

Thursday, April 04, 2013

Thing the first - I have a running buddy! This guy is a friend of a friend and lives down the road. We are pretty evenly matched in pace and ability, so we decided to go running together. We ran 5k together this afternoon and it was nice to have company, even though we didn't talk much and I listened to music some of the time.

Thing the second - I have a running app called runkeeper. If you are a runner you must have it (it's free!!) You press the start button when you begin your run and the stop button when you finish. It uses the GPS to track your route, gives you your pace per minutes/km plus overall pace and once you send the activity to your online account you can see even more detail, like elevation. It is super fun and a really easy way to keep track of my progress without having to guess anything.

So my new April/May goal is to run a 5k in 30 minutes! Today I ran 5k in 31m28s, so I am nearly there. I hope once my ankle is out of the strapping tape (limiting my movement) I will be able to start shaving some time off. Plus I have a running buddy to keep me motivated and stop me from walking too much (I'm competitive).

I have a 5k at the end of May and I would LOVE to run it in 30 minutes. It is on AND off road, but the course isn't too bad (I ran it last year in 42m06s) so we'll see. If not I'll look for an all on road 5k in early June.

Wish me luck!

My big decision

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

Being in a long distance relationship is hard. Really, really hard. We miss each other constantly and we never have enough time together. It can't go on forever, so one of us has to move. Since Luke has a young son (and I would NEVER ask him to move away from him) we decided that I would move. This is a huge decision for me, to move an 8 hour drive/hour flight away from all my family and friends, but it is the right thing to do; We want to be together.

So I made the decision that I would resign from my job effective the end of term 2 (July) and try to find a job in Wellington. If all else failed could always relieve. We started looking at rental properties, discussing who would bring which furniture. So, I was set, I had my references sorted and my CV typed up and I was ready to tell my boss that I was leaving. THEN...

I was offered an AMAZING opportunity at work. Incredible. I can't say much about it for security reasons, but I can say that I am implementing and managing a new program, and other schools may want the same program implemented in the future. It comes with a pay bonus, and will look outstanding on my CV. Did I mention I'm only in my second year of teaching? This is unheard of, for a second year teacher to be offered an opportunity like this. I would be crazy to turn it down. So I haven't.

Long story short, I am staying in Auckland for the rest of the year but I'll be moving as soon as I can at the end of the year, just before Christmas. It was a very hard decision, choosing between the man I love and the career I love. We decided together that opportunities like this don't come around much, and I have invested too much time and money into my career to turn down offers like this. An extra 5 months is manageable. We are committed to our relationship, and we will make this work.

Although it is hard being away from this cute face

I am very impressed that this was a decision that you BOTH discussed and came to an agreement together on. This was a mature and wise decision, I think. Who knows? Perhaps something similar will open up for you in Wellington!

Wow!! Great opportunity! Congrats on that and I think you made a great decision - you will still be moving to be close to him as soon as you can, but you will get to take advantage of this wonderful career opportuinity!

Congrats on the work situation! I was in a long distance relationship about the distance of yours for 7 years before he moved here and we got married, been married almost five years. =) It's tough, but you can last another 9 months or so. Just keep dreaming of the future and don't get too caught up in the distance. At least you guys are in the same country! (I am in the US and my husband is Canadian)
