Today I did this

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Signed up for a 6k! It is in 3 weeks, and I'm super excited. My training is going well (or it was, before the rolled ankle...) and I am ready to get into running again. It is SO much easier now that I'm lighter and fitter, and I'm starting to enjoy it a lot. 6K should be OK, since I can run just over 4 without trouble. Will do a 5k next week and a 6k the week after to prepare.

We have testing this week, too! Wish it would stop, I haven't had time to teach them anything, so I'm not sure what on earth we are testing them for!

Missing my man already :(

Sunday, March 17, 2013

We had a lovely weekend, including JET BOATING on Auckland Harbour

Our boat

Dry to start with...

You can't see it but we are SOAKED in this picture!

Then we went out for dinner

And had lunch with the grandparents, and my tech-savvy nana snapped this on her iPad

Then I dropped him at the airport and we got very emotional. Saying goodbye is getting harder and harder :( 11 days until I see him again, and it is for easter weekend so I get 4 whole days!!

Aww, I know how hard it is to say goodbye. When my hubby and I were dating, we lived a 2.5 hour drive apart for the entire time we dated (a little over 3 years) and we saw each other every other weekend.

Sounds like a nice weekend for you two, even with the emotional goodbye.

I didn't! Everyone who was stationary in my house felt it, but I was walking down the stairs and didn't feel a thing (or believe my poor boyfriend who insisted he just felt an earthquake!)

Sounds like the weekend was good:-)

Your tech-savvy nana has an *i-pad* - she sure is 'tech savvy' !!!! It's a pretty good snap, too!

Did you get to feel the earthquakes this a/noon? One was just off where I live, but didn't feel a thing - my son text me from Auckland to alert me to it.

The boyfriend is visiting tomorrow!!

Thursday, March 14, 2013

This weekend is Lukes weekend to visit me. So I get to see my super cute boyfriend AND I don't have to get on a plane. I've been on 12 this year, and that is a lot for someone who hates flying. I am so excited to have him in my town! I'm taking him jet boating on Auckland Harbour (a surprise activity!), taking him for dinner at one of my favourite places, and he gets to meet all 3 of my grandparents at Sunday lunch (lucky him, right?)

So I won't be doing any formal exercise this weekend. I have earned my weekend off. In the past 5 days I have run 12.6km, done 2 boxing classes, strength trained twice, plus I have a 4km run on the cards tomorrow. Yep, I get a break!

I'll be back on Sunday night, hopefully with some nice pictures of our weekend!

Enjoy your break! I have one coming up next month when I go to see my boyfriend. I plan on taking one day to eat whatever i want when we have a date night and I wont be doing any high intensity workouts like I normally do, but I will be going for a walk every morning, he takes forever to wakeup anyway so that gives me something to do :) Have a great time!

Rocking a run AND running shorts

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

I finally got myself some shorts to run in. I hate my thighs (yes, really) and never considered running in shorts before, but I figured that if I could probably pull them off. So glad I did, they are so much better than leggings, especially in this heat!

Observe

Please ignore the horrible posture, I had just done a boxing class and a run back to back. I was tired.

Speaking of my run, I went on one. I don't hate it or suck at it so I'd like to run more often. The heat has been the main thing stopping me; It has been in the mid to high twenties (celcius, google for Fahrenheit) here all summer, and the heat and I do not see eye to eye. Anyways, I set out to do 4km in 28 minutes and it turns out that my route was 120 meters longer, so I ran 4.14km in 28 minutes. SWEET! That's less than 7 minute per km, which is a full minute and 45 seconds per km FASTER than I was this time last year! AND the only time I stopped was when I had to tie my shoe (and boy was I annoyed since I wanted to do the whole thing without stopping).

Since my run went so well I think I will sign up for the 6k I was looking at. I can easily train for a 6k in a month since I can already run 4. And it's $15. And literally 3km down the road. No reason not to sign up, really!

Yes you look great in those shorts. 20c - that sounds pretty comforting - my summers can get 30 ish that is breath zapping. But great job on the run well done.

You look great in those shorts! And great job on that run! Go ahead on and sign up for the 6K. :)

I am envious if your summer "only" gets to mid-high twenties. [I put only in quotes because I understand it's relative to what you're used to.] Anyway, summers here have many weeks ate 30-35. Ugh!
