Rocking a run AND running shorts

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

I finally got myself some shorts to run in. I hate my thighs (yes, really) and never considered running in shorts before, but I figured that if I could probably pull them off. So glad I did, they are so much better than leggings, especially in this heat!

Observe

Please ignore the horrible posture, I had just done a boxing class and a run back to back. I was tired.

Speaking of my run, I went on one. I don't hate it or suck at it so I'd like to run more often. The heat has been the main thing stopping me; It has been in the mid to high twenties (celcius, google for Fahrenheit) here all summer, and the heat and I do not see eye to eye. Anyways, I set out to do 4km in 28 minutes and it turns out that my route was 120 meters longer, so I ran 4.14km in 28 minutes. SWEET! That's less than 7 minute per km, which is a full minute and 45 seconds per km FASTER than I was this time last year! AND the only time I stopped was when I had to tie my shoe (and boy was I annoyed since I wanted to do the whole thing without stopping).

Since my run went so well I think I will sign up for the 6k I was looking at. I can easily train for a 6k in a month since I can already run 4. And it's $15. And literally 3km down the road. No reason not to sign up, really!

Yes you look great in those shorts. 20c - that sounds pretty comforting - my summers can get 30 ish that is breath zapping. But great job on the run well done.

You look great in those shorts! And great job on that run! Go ahead on and sign up for the 6K. :)

I am envious if your summer "only" gets to mid-high twenties. [I put only in quotes because I understand it's relative to what you're used to.] Anyway, summers here have many weeks ate 30-35. Ugh!

Look what I can do!

Look, Ma, no band!

Yep, on Friday I did a chin up all by myself. Then I got a guy from my boxing class to take a picture of me doing one today. I didn't quite get all the way up today (was a few cm short of Friday's effort), but I did one, so I still get to brag!!

Auckland Round the Bays 2013 (pics)

Saturday, March 09, 2013

I did it! I finished! And in a very respectable (in my humble opinion) 1h3m, for a 8.4km race. That's a 7m30s per kilometre pace, which isn't bad considering the lack of training. Last year, with training, I was running 8 minute kilometres, so I didn't do too badly. Also, I had a horrible side stitch for the whole race (I think it was the coffee since it was the only thing I did differently) and ended up stopping to walk a few times. My running buddy was amazing and dragged me (literally at times) through the race and kept my spirits up. I was really hurting near the end, but we kept shuffling along and made it to the finish where I promptly lay on the ground.

We did have a few kerfuffles (like my gym not ever registering us even though I paid them!), but luckily everyone was really nice and believed that we had paid my gym since we were wearing the tshirts, so we were able to grab a spare number and run.

Here are some pictures

Before the race

The massive crowds (I was number 73585... Yep there were a lot of people running!)

The traditional OMG I'm about to do something face

FINISHED!

The beautiful views on our walk to our BBQ site (benefit of signing up with the gym - Free BBQ after!)

We are already talking about next year (we will actually train and do it in under an hour!)

Accidentally lost more weight

Friday, March 08, 2013

I'm now hanging around the low 66kg mark, which puts me at 21kg lost. I have dipped a little lower, but I think I was just dehydrated. I've now been maintaining at the low 66's for over a week.

I didn't mean to lose more! I'm not tracking and I'm still eating in a similar manner to how I was when I was actively losing so I'm guessing that I'm not eating enough calories to maintain. I'll see how I go if I throw in an extra snack, I suppose.

I've not got much to blog about

Friday, March 08, 2013

Well, I have something to blog about, but you'll have to wait until Tuesday when I get photographic evidence :P

Other that that

emoticon Just call me Coach Bubble. I coached my girls teeball team on Tuesday. They lost 3 games and had one draw, but their attitude was awesome the whole time, and I am still so proud of them! The boys team did well too, but I couldn't coach 2 teams at once so another teacher helped out with the boys team. I had to get up at assembly today to present the teams with their certificates... In front of 250 children and staff. Fun times.

emoticon I'm running an 8.4km race on Sunday... Well, I'll jog and walk. Memo to me, don't sign up for things with a months notice. I had no training due to illness, travel, and laziness.

emoticon I am FINALLY getting back into a gym routine. Illness and work stuffs got me out of a routine, so I am trying my best to get back into my 5 day/4day fortnightly routine.

emoticon I'm having a lazy Friday night. A few TV shows, a bit of computer time, and an early night. What. A. Life.

We have no school today. We're in the middle of a very big snow storm here in Hillsborough, New Hampshire, USA.
