Hello everyone! I'm back from my incredible trip away. Finally. I was delayed 12 hours in Brisbane, which was super annoying and frustrating. but I eventually made it home. I loved the states, and I can't wait to go back. My favourite places were San Fran and Las Vegas. So much to do, so much fun! I'll post a photo blog of my time in LA soon.
I weighed myself yesterday and prepared myself for a big number. Imagine my surprise when I saw the lowest number ever! I lost 700g, or 1.5lb while I was away! That's half a pound a week, which is amazing! I ate OK, and used moderation. I tried to eat a good breakfast every morning, and I would usually eat enough so I could skip my morning snack. Then I would have a light lunch and a bigger dinner. When I ate in restaurants I would order a non fried appetizer and a side salad to help with portion control. I also walked for miles nearly every day. Walking doesn't burn heaps of calories, but it must have helped!
So I am back to reality as of today. Eating well, limiting junk, etc. I was planning on going to the gym today, but I am so, so tired that I'm giving myself a break. I'm helping my grandpa move house tomorrow, so will hit the gym on Sunday. While I did lose weight in the states I don't feel like I did, so I am looking forward to getting back to exercising. I feel a bit fluffy.

Hi all, just a quick check in. I'm alive and well. Since we last talked I have been to
- San Diego, California (met San Diego John, he is such an awesome and fun guy!)
- Scottsdale, Arizona
- Sedona, Arizona (off road jeep riding, so fun!)
- Grand Canyon
- Las Vegas, Nevada
And now I am sitting in LAX waiting for my friends flight to arrive from London. I have been in the USA for 2 weeks now, and I have another 5 days left. I have had the most amazing times and seen amazing things. Vegas was so, so fun, I danced until 4am 2 days in a row. I loved it and didn't want to leave! I would go there again in a heart beat. The grand canyon was amazing, I did a helicopter flight over the canyon and it was indescribable. I feel so lucky that I am able to do this trip and to see and do so much!
I have done so much shopping that it isn't even funny. Clothes and shoes here are so cheap, and then I discovered Ross (OMG Ross!) and I just went a little mental. $15 Calvin Klein pants, nuff said. I got a pair of sketchers shoes for $30, and they are $130 in NZ! I ended up buying a carry on bag, and it is full of nothing but new clothes, and my suitcase is full. I will never need to clothes shop again!
A quick weight update: my clothes still fit fine, but I'm feeling a little flabby, probably from a lack of ST. I'm getting plenty of exercise with all the walking (and dancing) I'm doing, but ST is missing in a big way. I was weighed for the helicopter flight and I was 146lb fully dressed, so 143lb without clothes etc (approx). All scales are of course different, but since that is less that what I weighed when I got here I think that I have probably maintained my weight since being here.
So that's what I have been up to. Will try and upload a photo blog right after i post this just in case anyone is interested in seeing pictures of me in different locations.
I miss SP, will be back to it in a week!

Hi all. Finally have a moment to sit down and breathe after a hectic week. I spent 4.5 days in the amazing city of San Francisco, followed by 1.5 days in Seattle. Yeah, San Fran is a hard act to follow and I'm sorry to say that I wasnt that impressed with Seattle. I did the usual touristy stuff and then it was lunch time, lol. All part of the experience though and I'm glad I went and gave it a go.
I'm currently at Seattle airport waiting for my plane to LA where I meet my tour tomorrow morning. Traveling alone has been so much fun, but I'm keen to see what the tour is like.
Right, this is a weight loss website, so let's talk about weight loss and traveling. So far I havent noticed much of a change. My belly is a little rounder than normal, and i feel a little pudgy and sort, but my clothes all fit fine so I guess I am carrying some water. I have been trying to be smart about what I eat in an effort to maintain my weight.
- Most mornings I have had a good breakfast, then a good lunch, then I splurge a bit for dinner.
- I try to make one snack a fruit snack(as I type this I am munching on a locally grown apple that I got at pike place), and the other can be a bit junky.
- I always get the smallest size of anything. If I want a cookie or a donut I see if they do a small size. They usually do, to be sold by the dozen, but I have found that if I ask I can usually just buy one. It is more expensive , but worth it.
- if I can't get the small size then I don't eat the whole thing. Portion control is the key!
- all I drink is water, and if I am drinking alcohol I have a vodka and diet coke to keep my calories as low as I can
Also, I have been walking everywhere. In San Fran I was walking for at least 2 hours, if not more, every day. Once day we were walking for over 5 hours. I barely used public transport because I got to see more of the city if I used my feet. While it doesn't burn mega calories it does help. I did have plans to do push ups every 2 days, but so far I have only done them once... Will try to do them more often from now on!
I think I am getting a good balance of maintaining my healthy lifestyle and experiencing a new country.
I am hoping to get home and find that I ave maintained, or only gained a small amount. Flying makes me retain water, so I won't weigh until probably the saturday after I get back.
