Yeah it is super muggy. Sitting here in a sleeveless dress and it was STILL too hot today. At the gym I was disgusting, even for being at the gym!

Oh Em Gee

I felt fat this morning. I thought I would be seeing a big number on the scale. But the scale surprised me (I wonder if this is my xmas present... I didn't get anything for it!) by telling me that I have lost ANOTHER 500g. That means I have lost 1.6kg this month. The month of birthdays and Christmas and cake. I thought I would be struggling to lose 1kg, and I have blown it out of the water! I am 200g away from having lost 18kg, a goal I wanted to meet this year but wasn't sure if I could. Bodies are weird things, so I'm still not sure if I can, but I will do everything I can to ensure I meet my goal. 7 days to lose 200g? I've got this!

I weigh 70kg!

SEE

And I look awesome!

I have been waiting for this number for so, so long. I don't know why. My goal is actually 1-6kg LESS than what I am right now but 70kg means I am nearly there! I am at a weight that I am happy to say out loud

*For all my metrically challenged friends emoticon 70kg is 154lb*

My YMCA testimonial (feedback wanted!)

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

As part of winning member of the year I have been asked to write a testimonial about how I did it, to go in the gym's flyer and I think up on a wall. It needs to be short and sweet, but also convey my journey well. I could write pages, my blog is proof of that! Please tell me what you think!

My fitness journey

People ask me all the time why I decided to lose weight and the answer is simple: I was sick of being fat. I couldn’t wear what other girls my age could wear; instead I hid behind flowing tops and baggy jeans. I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded. I was sick of it! I set a new years resolution to get myself fit and healthy, and I have stuck to it. I completely overhauled my diet and started tracking what I was eating. I started exercising 2-4 times a week. I found that I really loved boxing and strength training, and I have stuck with them for my whole journey. I added in boot camps when I could as something new to give me variety, and a bit of a push. I found like minded people at the gym who support me and keep me accountable. I have lost over 17kg this year, and in the process gained fitness and confidence.

Sounds good and sounds honest! A little bit of sentence editing like Nikkicole83 suggested and it will be perfect!

NIKKICOLE83 12/19/2012 4:01PM

Congratulations on your feature!!! I like your story. It is sweet and to the point. A little feedback:

-"new years resolution" should be New Year's resolution.

-Two sentences later you say "I started exercising 2-4..." I would suggest "I began exercising" simply because you use "started" in the sentence right before and it can sound redundant.

-The sentence about boxing and strength training, I would recommend saying that you stuck with them your "entire" journey. It rolls of the tongue better.

-The following sentence can be tightened. Perhaps, "I added in boot camps when I could for added variety and an extra push."

-The line "like minded" in the next sentence should be like-minded.

I hope you don't mind the feedback. I was a Features Editor for years and an English Major though I tend to still get it wrong sometimes so feel free to use as you wish.
