Weight goal: By the end of this month I would like to have a normal BMI. This would require me to lose 900g. Now that I am tracking (ick!) this should be doable.

emoticon Goal smashed! I lost 1.6kg, which is 700g more than my goal called for. I have a normal BMI AND I hit 15kg lost.

Nutrition: Track, track, track. Stay within my calories 6 days a week. In a perfect world I would stay in my calories 7 days a week, but aiming for 6 days gives me some flexibility. Life happens, after all!

emoticon I tracked my little heart out. I staying in range most days, with the occasional day over or not tracking. My weekend away and personal problems made it hard, but I stuck to it and the results are showing on the scale.

Exercise: Gradually get back to my normal routine, under the supervision of my physio. I am allowed to walk, so I would like to walk a few times a week. I am also allowed to continue with my arms and abs ST, so I will do this too. Boxing may be OK; I am going to try tomorrow night, but if it hurts I will stop. Aim for 3 days of ST and 3 cardio days, with walking being counted as cardio.

emoticon I was able to join back in with my boot camp class twice a week. I did boxing at least once a week and I did ST twice a week. I am calling that a win!

I wore this dress on Sunday

I was brave. Look at how much leg I was showing! But, I rocked it and I felt sexy and confident. Not bad for a $5 dress, huh? Unfortunately, a dress means ditching the sneakers and wearing sandals. And now I am injured again. I have done something to my ankle from walking around in the sandals, which require a slightly different gait so they don't go flying off my foot. This is why I don't wear dresses much; Sneakers are my friend. Physio tomorrow at 8am! Off to put another one of his kids through university!

I also got this on the weekend

Breathe deep, sparkmums, it isn't real. Yet. I went to talk to someone about getting this as a tattoo. They can do a stencil and transfer it on to your arm, like a temporary tattoo, so you can wear it for a couple of days and see how you feel about the location, size, etc. I really, really like it, and it is small enough to fit under my watch, so I can cover it for work. I am loving the purple colour, and am thinking that I won't get it done in black, as it may be a little harsh. Instead I think I'll get it done in a purple colour, which was more subtle.

Sandals...what kind are they that hurt your ankle like that? Perhaps you need to get a new pair of sandals/dress flats??

Tats....well, they ARE permanent...I think it looks very nice. Perhaps maybe go just a wee bit smaller in font size...?? I like that whoever you went to did a temp one for you so you could "try it on".

Seattle and San Fran advice, please!

I have booked my international flights, so they are set in stone. Now I need to book my internal flights, which means deciding how long to spend in each city. How long is long enough? So here are the details

9th January - land in San Fran at 10am
16th January - leave LA in contiki

And I need to get Seattle in there, too.

My plan is this
9th, 10th,11th, 12th, 13th - San Fran
Evening of the 13th - fly to Seattle
Seattle 14th, 15th
Fly to LA the evening of the 15th

So I would get 4.5 days in San Fran and 2 full days in Seattle. How does this sound to people who have been there? I have waaaay more must dos in san Fran than in Seattle, hence the difference. I am also hoping that I will be able to nap on the plane and will be able to do a few non-taxing things the day I land. If I am tired I can sleep anywhere, so here's hoping. BUT I also know that I might land and feel like death and want to sleep all day, which would mean half a day less to see and do things.

Opinions? Thoughts?

    I used to live near SF and now live in Seattle. There is so much to do in both that I wouldn't know where I would want to spend more time.

My most favorite-est thing in Seattle is Woodland Park Zoo. But that can take up a big chunk of your day. And in January it can be pretty cold. Doesn't always stop us though....

Depending on what you like we have some pretty great museums and funky little are shows.

And, yeah, you can't forget the food...

    I live in the Seattle area. Lots of ideas......if it's nice or you don't mind walking in a little rain, the waterfront has a trail that goes for miles, following Puget Sound, and we just got a huge ferris wheel too. Sounds a little odd, but it's fairly unique. It's huge, you get a wonderful view of the city and water and each car is heated/air conditioned, so very comfortable. There's a very nice aquarium on the waterfront too and the 1st Starbucks ever is up by the Pike Place Market. Gotta go to the market and see them throw the fish. Pioneer Square is close to downtown too and has a lot of very old buildings with very cool pubs and live music. You could even take a ferry ride for fun. Half hour each way. Bainbridge island is on the other side and it has a lot of quaint shops.

Sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned. San Francisco will be a blast too. So many fun things to see. Have a terrific time!!!

    What time does your flight leave NZ? You fly direct toSan Fran? Couple of tips: really do try to sleep on the plane. Reset your watch before you go to sleep so that it will be the correct time when you land in SF. Once you get to San Fran, check in at hotel, and then have a regular day, since you're landing at 10 am. Try to go to bed at a regular time, and get up at a regular time. Drink lots of water! All of that will help with jet lag. As odd as it sounds, buy a sleep mask. You know, the "beauty masks" that Hollywood starlets used to wear in the movies?? What that will do is block out the light while you're trying to sleep. It can be very effective, and if you get one NOW, you have some time to get used to it. Another thing, Advil PM. I don't usually reccomend sleep aids, but it may just relax you enough to help you sleep. If you've never used it before, only take 1.

I'd adjust the dates a bit. I'd try to leave San Fran on the evening of the 12th so that you have the 13th, 14, and 15th in Seattle, and fly to LA the evening of the 15th.

    I get so excited when I land in SFO that I can't sleep regardless of the jetlag. It's a wonderful city (no insult to Seattle). Just to save money try taking the train into the city. Cheaper than an airport shuttle and easy to navigate.

I'm jealous! I wish I was going. It's my favorite US city. And healthy food is easy to find and cheap.

    Seattle is amazing. I would actually recommend 3 days for Seattle because there are so many sub-sections of the city that are culturally amazing. There are some great healthy restaurants that cater to a wide variety of cuisines and are especially diet friendly. Whatever you decide to do, enjoy yourself.
