Being home and in control of my food is so great! I can eat good foods, and I can stay in range. YAY! Lots of veggies again today. I am feeling great; Not bloated or sluggish.
I am feeling tired, though. One of the cats decided to have a breakdown once an hour last night, until 4am. Crying and crying, even when I got him into bed with me. He has had lots of stress lately (I didn't blog about it, but he had to have an eye removed a few weeks ago), including having his stitches out yesterday, so I am hoping it isn't going to happen often. I was so tired today. I need my sleep, a large part of the reason why I am child-free!
I went into school today, to help set up our new toys. Every classroom is getting a big TV and a new computer which connect together so the whole class can watch things (youtube etc) on the TV. It will be an awesome tool, since the kids are engaged with technology, and online videos can explain some things better than I can. I arrived too late to set anything up (slept in), but it was fun to see what my new resources will be for this coming term. I am going in tomorrow to set up my room. I was supposed to have a friend come and help me, but she has just text to say that she might not be able to come.
Boxing was good. There were so many people that we had to move from the group fitness room to the basketball courts! That meant lots of running... I didn't like it at the time, but I'm glad I did it. Boot camp tomorrow! And setting up a classroom, that should count as exercise, too!

I have had 4 servings of veggies today. That is heaps for me, usually I am good with 2! I think I am detoxing from my weekend, and all I want is healthy foods. I had fish and a huge salad for lunch, and chicken and salad wraps for dinner. I still had a couple of treats (coffee and half a small brownie with a teacher from my school, half a donut), but since I split everything with someone else it didn't mess up my calorie range. I am smack bang in the middle! YAY! Hopefully the scale will return to normal soon, too.
Today at the supermarket I discovered that my favourite yogurt brand (Puhoi Valley. Kiwis, try it. Thick and creamy with fruit compote on top) has released a new flavour; Nectarine! I love nectarines! I am so bummed that I am too full to have some tonight. I am hoping to have at least a taste before bed. Yes, I get irrationally excited about yogurt... Don't look at me in that tone of voice.
I went back to boot camp tonight. My physio said that I could start running again, and just to stop if anything hurt. Nothing hurt! I took it a little easy on the squats and lunges, since those use the quads a great deal, but everything else was fine. We did fun things, like tire flipping, tonight. I am glad to be back. I love getting my sweat on!

Wellington, that is!
Friday: Walked to Upper Hutt (nearly 6k) to meet a friend for lunch. Walking around UH is nice, everywhere looks like this
Bumped into 2 more friends while eating lunch, so I had a good catch up with a few people. Walked around UH, and from the train station to my home base. Total walking for the day was approx 10km. I tracked the 6k at the start of the day, since that was at a decent clip. The rest was more of a stroll, so I didn't track.
Saturday: Started my morning with a short run and ST workout. No gym? No problems!
I ran around to and around this field
Then I used this table to do incline push ups and triceps dips.
I also did squats and lunges. Then I ran home. Spent the day hanging out with my friend Luke and his son Riley, who is 14 months old. Cute kid. Lots of walking again today, probably 8km.
Sunday: Walked around the Lower Hutt mall for hours. Met a friend from teachers college for a coffee and a catch up. Less walking, maybe 2-3km?
Monday: Barcle day!
I met this gorgeous lady for coffee/lunch/chatting/life advice/shopping/picture taking in the car. Then I spent the rest of the day in Wellington city with my friend, and host for the weekend, Louise. Drove to the airport, had a bumpy flight home and here I am!
My biggest challenge for the weekend was food. My hosts eat takeaways several times a day, which made it hard to stay within my ranges. There was also no fruit or veggies in the house, so I bought my own to keep in my room. I also met people for lunch a lot, but I could at least make a healthy choice (subway, salad). I went over my calories most days, but stayed under my maintenance. I did do heaps and heaps of walking, so hopefully that countered some of my high calorie days. I am expecting a sodium gain on the scale tomorrow, but hopefully that will go away after a few days. I am going to be veggie loading the next few days. I see a lot of salads in my future, and I am looking forward to them!
One unhealthy decision that I did make during the weekend was this
Donuts from a cafe called Mr Trans. They are amazing. Since I can only get them from this one cafe, and I am only in UH once every 2 years, I ate a few. I tracked them and made them work in my calories and they were worth every delicious bite. I have no idea what they do to make these donuts so good! All I know is that they are amazing. I did better than last time I visited... I ate 6 in one day! This time I had less than 6 total. Progress!
So that is what I have been doing all weekend!

After a very short (47 minute!) flight, I landed safely at Wellington Airport. My friend, Louise, was waiting to pick me up. And take me to McDonalds for dinner. Now, I am a good guest, so I just go along with whatever the host suggests. I don't want to disrupt their lives/routine too much. So, McDonalds it was. I got a McChicken combo, with a sprite zero. I only at half the fries. I still came in near the low end of my range for today, thanks to a filling, low calorie lunch of fish and salad. The spark app is really handy for tracking on the go, and I can see myself using it a lot for the next few days.
I am lucky that my friend has given me free use of her laptop, since the tablet I brought with me can't connect to her wifi. Being online, something I would do at home, helps me from feeling too homesick. I love to travel, but I get terrible homesickness. If I am travelling with family I am OK, but I am useless travelling alone!
Tomorrow I have a lunch date. Hopefully we can find a cafe with some healthy options. I am hoping it is sunny, so I can walk the 5km to my lunch date. It will take me an hour, but it is all completely flat so it shouldn't be an issue.
