Why walk to the dentist? (pics)

I walked to the dentist today. It was raining too hard to walk to the hairdresser, unfortunately. This is why I chose to walk instead of take my car(besides the health benefits, of course).





Most of the way is a walking path. It is very calm and tranquil. Time alone, just me and my thoughts. That is why I chose to walk.

So this tracking lark works. I weighed this morning and was down 600g from yesterday and 900g from 4 days ago. This morning I weighed 73.3kg (161.5lb), which is a total loss of 14kg (30.8lb) since the start of the year!

I have a busy day of errands today. I love school holidays because I can get all these things done! I have the dentist at 12.15pm and the hairdressers at 2pm. It is a shame I couldn't get closer appointments, since they are in the same block of shops! It to too big of a gap to hang around, unfortunately. I plan on walking to both appointments, since they are less than 2km from my house, or a 20 minute round trip. So, and extra 40 minutes of walking today :) Then I have a massage at 3pm (YIPPEEEE!!!), boxing at 6.15 and a dinner date with a girlfriend at 8pm. Busy, busy bee!

My shoulders and back hate me + random thoughts

emoticon Weights on Sunday, boxing yesterday. Ouch. I actually did more during boxing than usual. There was an odd number of people, so someone had to punch twice. Instructor decided it would be me! I don't mind, I was actually flattered. He only picks on the fit people to go twice, so it was a compliment really. Doesn't make it hurt less, though. Skipping today's workout was a no brainer.

emoticon I have a physio appointment soon, and since it is only 1km away I am going to walk there and back. Gotta stop at the fruit and veggie shop, too, and it is directly across from my physio. Yay for activity!

emoticon I think I have figured out how people eat 1200 calories. Salad. Yesterday and today I have been having 2 salads a day, one with lunch and one with dinner. Both days I have barely met 1200 calories! Yesterday I even had 2 chocolate biscuits and still had 250 calories left for the day. Also, I am a lot less active at the moment, since I'm not teaching. That is probably affecting my appetite.

And that is what is currently in my brain.

    I also eat 2 salads a day. Lower calory intake is easier with salad.

    Fantastic about the calories...I feel so empowered when I find something t hat works for me, so I'm happy to hear about something that works for you! For me, it's lots of protein, I try to get about 90gms a day. And when everything goes well, I can have a cookie or two and it's all within range. Isn't that the best?? You are sounding good, I hope things are healing on the personal front. hugs!

    Good for you walking where you need to go instead of driving, love it! So cool about the boxing, wish my area had something similar. My target is 1200-1550 calories a day, some days I do well-right now not so much. When I make good choices I end up on the low end of the calories and have never felt hungry, it's like a mini-contest that I've won. Weird, I know.

October goals - Updated with progress picture

WOW. October already?! That means that I have been doing this weight loss thing for 9 whole months! 9! I wondered if I would make it past 9 days, but here I am, still trucking along!

My goals for October are

emoticon Weight goal: By the end of this month I would like to have a normal BMI. This would require me to lose 900g. Now that I am tracking (ick!) this should be doable.



emoticon Nutrition: Track, track, track. Stay within my calories 6 days a week. In a perfect world I would stay in my calories 7 days a week, but aiming for 6 days gives me some flexibility. Life happens, after all!



emoticon Exercise: Gradually get back to my normal routine, under the supervision of my physio. I am allowed to walk, so I would like to walk a few times a week. I am also allowed to continue with my arms and abs ST, so I will do this too. Boxing may be OK; I am going to try tomorrow night, but if it hurts I will stop. Aim for 3 days of ST and 3 cardio days, with walking being counted as cardio.



Hopefully this month will go smoother than the last and I can see some more progress! An obstacle may be my trip to Wellington on the weekend, as I will pretty much be eating what I am feed (staying with friends). However my mode of transport is my feet, so I will be burning heaps of calories through walking. I will have my spark app to track my food and exercise, so I have no excuse not to be tracking (and hopefully on track) while I am away.

September recap

Well, September sucked. I lost 600g total, and that was in the first and last day! I injured myself, so I haven't been exercising. I was emotional eating to deal with my relationship problems. It was really a mess. Even my measurements didn't help, since they stayed pretty much the same!

I did, however, meet a different kind of goal this month. This month I fit into my goal jeans and my goal top. The last time I wore these clothing items was xmas 2007



Yes, I have kept them ever since. I did wear the jeans into 2008, but I grew out of them that year.

My goal clothes last week


I wore them to dinner. I was comfortable, and I looked good!

So, that is a non scale victory for the month!

Tomorrow I'll post my October goals!

That is an adorable top! I know how much it means to be able to wear certain clothing items again! I'm thinking...with all of the stress your body has experienced this month (only 30 days), I'm wondering if, even though the scale isn't showing that you've lost a lot of weight, your body is showing that changes ARE taking place. Sometimes the scale can be wretched. Keep tracking your food, let your body heal, and enjoy wearing those jeans!!
