July Recap (progress pics, of course!)

July goals

Weight goal: Lose 900g. That will take me to 76.3kg and 11kg lost. I think this is manageable, especially since the first 2 weeks of the month are holidays, so I have plenty of time to exercise and eat right.

emoticon Even after stalling for 16! days I still managed to meet my goal. My lowest weight for the month was exactly 76.3kg

Nutrition: Try to track 1 weekday and 1 weekend day a week. Keep up the fruit and veggies, especially on the weekend!
emoticon I got quite good at tracking. It helped to keep me on track, for sure.

Exercise: Get back to my routine, which is 2 days boxing, 3 days weights and 1 run if I feel like it. I want to move every day of the holidays, even if it is just a walk.

emoticon I kept up with my routine for the most part. I took rest days when I needed them, and moved a lot during the holidays.

Photos
Start 87.3kg. 7 months later 76.3kg

Progress over 7 months
Start, 3 months, 4 months, 5 months, 6 months and 7 months.

I wish I could count this as exercise...

Saturday, July 28, 2012

I went to visit my nieces yesterday. Their dad is away and I thought their mum might like the break. Anyways, they answer the door and it all began. Within 3 minutes I was wearing a Minnie Mouse headband (and rocking it, if I do say so myself) and putting together Kinder Surprise toys (google it).

Then, "Aunty Jessica, will you take as on the trampoline?". Who can say no to the cutest 5 year old on the planet? Not me. Out we went, after trying putting on our gumboots. Have you ever put gumboots on a 3 year old? It is interesting. I said "Victoria, put your gumboots on" and she giggled, said no then headbutted me. Hilarious.

We bounced on the trampoline for about 10 minutes, then it was time for me to push them on the swings. Once they were bored with that we went inside and played hide and seek. Children are small, and very hard to find. Then we played a game called cats and dogs, where I had to pretend to be asleep (by this stage I was not pretending) and they would escape and I would chase them and carry them back to the starting point. Apparently this game is fascinating to kids and we played for more than half an hour.

By the time I left I was exhausted and ready for a nap! Too bad I can't count it in my exercise minutes, because it really wore me out. Hats off to all the mums out there who manage to look after energetic children and STILL exercise.

Oh, and a fringe update. I went back to the hairdresser and asked for it to be shorter so I could straighten it and wear it like that. Once straightened we found out it was really uneven! Here is the new look

Much better!

I did hide once! Then I volunteered to be the finder, so I could sit and rest while they were hiding!

Day one of the fringe

Friday, July 27, 2012

I had lots of nice comments at work. The kids were fascinated. I went for my weights workout and it didn't bother me, but I might need to dig out a headband for cardio...

I realise this isn't interesting. I'm still adjusting. It is a big change, and it is on my face!

Looks nice with your hair pulled back! Kids are honest, so if they liked it, you know it looks good. I use a barrette to pin my bangs back when I workout. Hope boyfriend likes them! DH is always a good critic on new hair styles for me.

So, I have a fringe...

Thursday, July 26, 2012

I went for my regular trim, one thing led to another and I ended up with a fringe. I haven't had a fringe since I was 10!

I'm still undecided. I flip between loving it and hating it. I think it'll look cute in a ponytail with just a fringe...

What you think?

I grew my bangs and sides out when I was pretty young, 10 or 11. I've always thought about cutting bangs again but the memory of the horribly awkward phase I had to go through to grow them out keeps me from doing it. The sides got to the length where I couldn't yet tuck them behind my ears.....it looked like I had brown earmuffs!

Looks great~!

Breaking habits

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

We all have habits; Some good and some not so good. I never used to eat breakfast so I got myself into the habit of eating it. Now, I am starving at 7am, like clockwork. So, that was a good habit. Going to the gym is now a habit. I didn't go to my boxing class tonight (I was going to go for a run but it started pouring pretty much as soon as I got home) and it felt weird, because it is now a habit for me to go to boxing on a Wednesday.

Now, I need to work on getting myself out of some bad habits. The first on the chopping block is the sweet things bad habit. I eat a lot of sweet things, and I love a good chocolate bar. But I know it has to change. So far I have made a rule of no chocolate before 3pm. I don't pack any to take to school, and I don't eat it during school hours. I am only allowed to raid the chocolate supply in my desk (mainly for bribing/thanking other staff members, occasionally for bribing the children...Kidding...Kinda) twice a week, and only after the children have gone home.

My next bad habit is the dessert habit. You know that saying 'You're never fully dressed without a smile'? Well, I'm never fully fed without dessert. I am trying to limit dessert to 3-4 times a week. It doesn't need to be every night, especially when I am plenty full from dinner. I love dessert, but there has to be a limit!

In slightly related news my scale FINALLY moved this morning. It went up and stayed there for 16 days. I know this doesn't sound like a lot to those of you who have been stuck for months, but it felt like forever to me.This morning I weighed 76.5kg, which gives me a loss this month of 700g. I only wanted to lose 900g this month, so I could still meet my goal... We'll see in a few days, I suppose!

Good on you for making the effort to change the not-so-good habits.

I need help on my sweets habit. I do good a few days then BAM I'm eating sweets like my life depends on them. emoticon emoticon

Habits are hard to kick! Once I went though this phase where I needed a McDonalds ice cream EVERY day after work... boy that was a hard one to kick (especially since it was only 150 calories, and fit nicely into my daily totals). Sounds like you have identified what your "bad" habits are and have some good "rules" assigned to them. Good luck.
