Fell Off The Wagon

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Well yesterday I ate way too many calories. I was hanging out with friends and as we sitting around talking I was just stuffing food into my mouth. Luckily I worked out for an hour before I went and saw them. But today I am back on track. I was upset with myself at first but chalked it up to a learning experience and moved on. Sometimes we need setbacks to move forward.

Setbacks teach us how to deal with adversity. There will always be temptations and we will all have those days where we know we just blew it. The thing is...it was just one day. You recognized it for what it was and took control again. Good for you! Give yourself a pat on the back for taking charge again. Never give up on yourself. You can do this! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Off days happen, the important thing is that you pick up and get moving ahead afterward. And it sounds like you're doing that, so great job!

The important thing is you recognize it and move on :-) It's easy to let it spiral into the next day, then the next day... but it looks like you won't let that happen! emoticon

A Long Road Ahead

Saturday, November 16, 2013

Well so far I have lost 16.5 pounds and I am very happy about that. Since I have been eating better and exercising I have more energy and just feel better in general. But I have one nagging thought that is always on my mind and that is how far I still have to go. My goal weight is 150 pounds which means I still have 89.5 pounds to go. This seems like such a daunting task. I hope I can have it in me to go the distance.

I personally focus on a few pounds at a time. If I focus on the 120 lbs I prob wouldn't keep focused. Hang in there my friend, your doing a great job.

first off congrats on the weight loss and the hard work that went with it. as for going the distance....reaching goal isn't the end of the road. in fact its just the beginning of incorporating all that you've learned....for life. hence the term...'healthy lifestyle' and is pretty much the determining factor whether one starts their journey all over again or not...speaking from personal experience no less..lol. hang tough!

I know how you feel, I get overwhelmed when I think of how far I have to go, also. But we can totally do it. And if you ever doubt it can be done, take a look at some of the success stories floating around here. Many have done it before, and we can do it too!

Good luck!

Eating Healthy

Friday, November 01, 2013

I don't know why so many people complain that eating healthy is expensive because it really isn't. I have just figured out that it will cost me about $50 a week to eat for just myself. Most of these people are the ones who go thru a drive thru for dinner anyway and spend an average of $8 a person. If I were to do this just once a day it would cost $56 a week and then I would have to spend even more money on some groceries to eat my other meals. Yes groceries can be expensive but if you shop smart you can save a lot of money and get healthy all at the same time. This is what most would call a win-win situation.

Good for you! It does take planning, however and the strength to walk by all those "buy one, get one free" specials that never seem to include anything healthy.

I live with the junk food king and he can bring home 3 boxes of snack cakes (on sale!) for the same price as 1 quart of my organic yogurt. So sad. His ingredient list looks like a chemistry experiment.

As you say...it's all about shopping smart. I personally look at the circulars from where I shop each week and I buy on sale and plan meals around those sale items. Saves $ for sure! I don't eat processed foods, so I buy veggies, fruits, meat/fish, etc. Nothing in boxes or cartons with strange ingredients.

So true about the fast food - expensive and just not healthy. I bought a big package of arugula for $5.99 and that will last us several meals with some light dressing on it as a side for our dinners.

The broccoli I wanted to buy was over $2.50 a pound yesterday. I didn't get it. I was sad, but that was just ridiculous!

Got my other stuff though and I'm excited about eating healthy!!!

Hope your week goes well!

You can find some healthy foods for good prices. It's easier when they there is only one person because you don't have to deal with different preferences and tastes.

I think some fruits and vegetables are probably more expensive than they need to be. I love berries and they are frequently very costly.

It's good when you can find good whole foods for a good price!

October Review/November Goals

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Well as one month passes and another one begins it is time to see where I started and where I have yet to go.
October- I got a late start in October, not starting until the 17th. I did manage to lose 8.5 lbs though.

November goals-
1. Be at 225 lbs by the end of the month which will be a 23 lb weight loss.
2. Do strength training 3 times a week.
3. Do cardio 5 times a week.

Wow, you lost a lot of weight in a very short time! I agree with STRONGCOURAGE, watch out with drastic weight loss. You are probably still in that early stage where it comes off a bit more quickly, but it will slow down. You're doing great, though, and I'm sure you will continue to do so!!!

Thats an incredible loss for 1/2 month!!! You must be making incredible healthy living changes! emoticon

Just be careful ...to lose 14.5 more pounds (to total 23) in just the month of November is more than 3lbs loss a week! 1- 2lbs loss per week is the healthy recommendation.

Granted, when I started the drastic change in my eating habits and exercises some weeks I did see a 3 or 4lb drop, but that was occasional, it was usually 1-2lbs a week...and normally, now, (outside my current gallbladder situation) I have to work harder now that the first (almost) 40lbs are gone! :)

Just saying you off to an amazing start, but remember to pace yourself. This is for the long haul...turning into a lifestyle :) And a tip...weight that comes off slowly is more likely to stay off :) (Learned from too much experienced!!! :P)

All the best! emoticon

Gym

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

I am thinking about joining a gym again. Before long the weather won't allow me to go out and jog. Also getting the living room to myself to workout to my videos in getting more and more difficult. I was going to Planet Fitness and I loved it, but I would really like to find something with a pool. I miss swimming a lot.

I hope you find the best place that includes a pool. I luckily have a Y locally which is my next cheapest option for membership and a pool. Best wishes!!
