New Focus

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Well, it's been a while since I've posted a blog but I'm making it a goal to post a blog at least 4 days a week! I fell off the wagon so to speak for a while because I was feeling a bit angry about life, and told myself I just didn't care. But than i forced myself to go to a Super Pet Expo the 11th and 12th, than a Women's Health Expo this past saturday. Don't ya know that was exactly what I needed to get back to where I needed to be? Got some great info about events coming up where I could volunteer with pet things (and meet some new people:). Plus, I got some great information about doctors, health care in the area so that;s always good! Plus, I have started going to a chiropractor to get adjusted because I desperately need it. It just so happens his office is located in a gym that is affordable and seems very good. YEA! Now that I've got some good leads, I've got to use them because I am going to a couple's wedding on a cruise through the Caribbean next April and I want to look FIERCE! Plus, I am taking (and paying for) my mom to go with me! For one whole week! I told my mom that we are doing the spa and everything`completely spoiling and pampering both of us because we are well beyond deserving it:) Did I mention that we are leaving from Miami, Florida with stops in Grand Turk, than on to Half Moon Bay, the Bahamas (which is when the couple will get married), than St. Thomas, USVI, and finally San Juan, Puerto Rico before heading back to Miami. The trip is one week long and I am beyond excited! Super motivation to kick everything into high gear:) Now I just have to clear it with the family I nanny for (should not be a problem at all, especially since I think spring break falls somewhere around this time:)YAY!

P.S. Did I mention that I splurged and bought myself an iphone 4S? Plus, my mom is going to get one next january when my blackberry gets an upgrade:) I am all about spoiling myself and my mom this year:)!

It's a whole new month!!

Thursday, December 01, 2011

Well, I did better staying within all my goals today while tracking food. I decided not to take my multi vitamin and see how I did with getting all my nutrients/vitamins that I need. It actually was not too bad. Some I met, some I went over and others I was low. But at least I can see where I am short/over and work on that. This will be the first time that I track my food and get all my vitamins/nutrients and I am extremely pleased with myself! Today, I was in the basement with the 8 year old girl I nanny and we actually found a treadmill and weight machine downstairs! YAY! We actually went down there to see if we could set up a place for me to work out when I have time (which I have time each day). The girl, Emily, actually said she wanted to stretch and do things with me. So, we're going to set up an area and do our "workouts" together. What a great way to get fit and bond:) I'm very fortune that I have the time and equipment/space to work out each day. Makes the need to join a gym much less needed (although I wouldn't mind the meeting new people). Such a lucky girl I am!

Now you just need to get some equipment down there for music and/or workout DVD's! emoticon

Way to go - It really is wonderful that you are inspiring your young charge. I bet she is fun to be around. Your keeping track of you foods now will also be a great help in the long run. When you finally get really used to it you will wonder how you managed to go so long not doing it. Keep up all the good work.

I see a pattern that I don't like AT ALL

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Now that I track my food intake each day, I see that although I do check the labels, the calories/fat really add up! I never thought that the little things add up so quickly. I hate it because I am over every day (or reach my goals way too early in the day) but I'm very determined now to be within my goals but still not OVER. What a shock to my system, but I'm glad I'm doing it as it causes me to think very hard about what I eat (and when, how many, etc).

Generally speaking, foods without labels are going to be your best bets anyway - produce, produce, and more produce! As soon as they package it, it's getting processed and the more a food is processed, the more profitable it becomes for the manufacturer and the WORSE it becomes for your health!

It can be so hard to find that balance. I find when I'm not paying attention, I can easily go over in all categories so easily. Sometimes it is fun to make finding healthy, filling, low calories foods into a game like "which is better". Sometimes I have to remind myself that I wouldn't grab a bowl of macaroni or a big sandwich for a snack (300+ calories) so why do I think it is okay to mindlessly eat 2-3 servings of chips (which would be well over 300 as well).

Making you think about it more is the best thing! Now you will look at food differently! Good luck!

Lots of changes!

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Well, since the last time i have really updated my web page and blogs, I have adopted a dog, moved to New Jersey, and started working as a live-in nanny! I could not be happier:) I should have done this a long time ago, but I finally decided that I was tired of the way things were going. I was nervous about the idea of a complete change, but than I thought, "what do I have to lose"? Look at me now, working as a live in nanny one hour from my favorite BIG city (NYC) with a great family and my dog:) I hardly have any bills, I get to hang out with my dog, a couple cute kids and i don't have to drive anywhere or do a job that I don't enjoy! Plus, I can save money like crazy and I get paid vacations:) I am very, very happy!
