Minor event I forgot to mention . . .

My roommate and I signed up for a 5K for the end of this month!!! It was several weeks ago that we signed up and its come so fast - this Sat morning! In 4 days! It started as something to help donate to a friend-of-the-family's of my roommate. This friend is my roommate's hair dresser. She and her husband was diagnosed with cancer - shes a survivor, he didnt make it. Since then this friend helps raise money for cancer any way she can and she setup this walk for BASE Camp. http://basecamp.org/

Im happy to be contributing to this organization and also getting in a good workout!

Im thinkin abt making it a goal to do XXX many 5Ks a yr, making sure they are charities so the registration fees go to good use. Now that my hubby is off on Saturdays its doable! In the past, hes worked over night (coming home when the races start) or on Saturdays. He may change shifts/schedule in June so once that happens, I will re-evaluate if this goal is reachable :o)

Un-freakin-believable! I weighed in this morning at 227.5lbs!!! emoticon Just a half pound away from the original 7.5lbs I wanted to lose this month. Still got today and tomorrow for that to come off but even if it doesnt, Im still in awe abt my body!!! Yes, I weighed myself 3 times and 227.5 won! emoticon The other reading was still great too - 228! Thats still a half pound lost.

Mom came over yest and I was tellin her how fast this weight is comin off. I also mentioned that I was kinda curious if maybe the scale was broke. She got on it and said it was accurate, atleast compared to hers. Mine is digital and hers is the old fashioned "hand moves around the wheel" type. My scale was a lb over but she accounted for it cuz at home she weighed w just underclothes on.

Im so stoked! Im enjoying every minute of this! I know there will come a day when I start to plateau and will have to shake things up to start seeing the weight come off again, but for now Im enjoying my healthy lifestyle!!!

    I always get on the scale multiple times and if a reading comes up 3 times then that's the one I go with. Just on those unbelievable good or bad days. You got this!

Just finished my Biggest Loser Cardio Max dvd!!! In my frontroom . . . with the roommate watching! emoticon She even said she'd join me tomorrow - yaaaaay! I am soooo exhausted tho! Its been a while since I used it and WOW, I forgot how hard it was. Dont get me wrong tho - I love to sweat!!! emoticon

A sweet victory for my healthy lifestyle! I got this! I can do whatever I set my mind to! Look out fat - ur goin DOWN!!!

    Great job! It takes a lot to overcome those mental obstacles. It would be great if she would join in too that way you have a buddy right there.

2nd Blog of the day - yes, Im chatty

So Im trying to keep motivated abt what kinda exercise to do now that my buddy, the elliptical, is no longer with us. 2 good SparkFriends - MOMMY_NONNY and HWNHMMBRD - suggested inside cardio w DVDS. Great Idea, ladies!!! But there are 2 obstacles I gotta get over first.

1~Kids dont nap anymore so Id have to find a time -just 30mins- when they can play quietly by themselves
AND
2~My roommate is home during the morning.

The first one isnt too bad to solve. The kids are at an age where they will play by themselves, sometimes together, quietly. Its just a matter of keeping them engaged while they do it so I get in the full 20-30mins. An option I have heard is to use certain toys ONLY for workout times - it keeps those toys fun bc they are limited. BUT I really think once they see me on the floor 'dancing'/'playing' they will want to join in. Honestly, I think it would be emoticon for them to join in - see Mommy setting a good example still (they used to LOVE to get on the elliptical and 'exercise' AKA play until my LO got hurt) and them wearin off some energy also!!!

The second one is gonna take some guts and bravery. If u dont follow me, we have a roommate that lives w us and sleeps on the couch til we move next month and she gets her own room. Well she doesnt go to work til noon, 1pm so all morning shes in the frontroom w us. Thats where I had our elliptical. Id put on tv and workout. Well now that I gotta use the cardio DVDs, Im a lil shy to bounce around the frontroom in front of her. W my elliptical, I was in my own lil corner and we watched tv. She even used it from time to time. But this time its gonna take up the whole frontroom and the tv. I dont really think she will join in w the dvd - shes really introverted and stays to herself. I was really shocked when she got on the elliptical while we were in the room.

But u know what?! Im in great shape, eating healthy, and feeling alive! I wanna keep this feeling GOING so I gotta put on my Big Girl panties and do what I gotta do! Maybe I will inspire her to come outta her comfort zone. We shall see!!

PS - If u made it this far in my blog, thanx a bunch! I love ranting on Spark - its always received well and welcomed. emoticon

    WooHoo on the good news from your first blog this morning!! And, you CAN do this! I like the special toy idea for workout time. My 4 year-old son sometimes joins in with me, but sometimes he just runs between my legs and tries to kill me! LOL

I put on a movie for him, and then I put my Leslie Sansone or Jillian DVD on my laptop -- and I exercise in HIS room. He gets the living room... If I get really lucky, I kick kiddo and hubby out for an hour and exercise in the living room all by myself :)

I think it might be a blessing in disguise that your elliptical is R.I.P. Changing up workouts is great for your body!

I just bought the 2008 Jillian Michaels Shred, and I haven't hurt myself yet, LOL -- The jumping is tough on me, and I live on the 2nd floor -- so my downstairs neighbor HATES me -- but we'll be moving in December anyway...

Leslie Sansone is AWESOME, though. You might be able to find a few of her freebies on YouTube :)

Really?! Another .5 lb???

So this morning is my usual routine. Take the pup out emoticon, make coffee emoticon, and then step on the scale emoticon. Its not a certain day. Im a daily weigher. I know, I can hear the gasping now! emoticon

Well after the crazy day/week I just had I wasnt expecting the scale to be nice to me. I have kept eating healthy 80% of the time, even when I didnt want to, but my cardio was lacking something MAJOR! 65mins for the week emoticon when my goal is 150mins. I had so much stress going on and I put it off in leu of other things. Not a good habit, but I did it. I was prepared to suffer the consequences. Back to this morning . . . I get on the scale and it says 228.5!!! Step off and back on - 229. Step off and back on -after all, 2 outta 3 wins- 228.5!!! And back on again JUST TO MAKE SURE - 228.5!!!!! emoticon I DID IT! I broke 229lbs!!!

I was so thrilled that I started doin my Happy Dance. emoticon Hubby thought I was crazy but hey, who cares! Dance like no one's watching right?!!! So now I have a renewed sense of motivation for the week. Yeah, the half pound, even a whole pound, may creep back up in the next day or two, but Ima try my HARDEST to stay in my healthy ways -eat right and exercise consistently- to keep the numbers moving DOWN emoticon. Who knows - maybe I will reach that 227lbs goal in 3 days. LOL - I dont expect it but would be pretty AWESOME!

BTW it kinda brings up a question . . . why now??? To me it seems this 'fat' is MELTING off! I started balancing my carbs and being more consistent with exercise in the beginning of Feb. Im almost at 2 months now and I have gone from 235 to 228.5lbs - thats a loss of 6.5lbs!!! emoticon I guess when I do the math it seems reasonable - less than a lb a week. Maybe it just seems more bc I broke out of the 230s, which I havent been out of since before I was preg with my first (5+ yrs ago!).

Oh well - Ima take it!!! I put forth alotta hard work for it. I deserve it emoticon Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

    You take that .5 lbs! Congrats on the weight loss, You'll meet that 227! and if not it won't be for lack of trying. Just do what you know you need to do and then if you don't meet it then maybe it's retained water or just a little muscle. You got this!
