Renovation madness..

Sunday, January 29, 2012

In the past three months we have: stripped wallpaper and old nasty carpet from 6 rooms and 2 bathooms, repaired walls throughout, painted all the rooms, laid hardwood floor in every room but the two baths, gutted the kitcvhen and installed new cabinets, sink, applainces, and countertops.. and the only thing not done 100% by DH and i with a bit of help from one of our sons were the countertops. Lots of work, lots of carry out meals and quick fix stuff, 10 lbs to lose. So glad to have a kitchen again!!

Penny, thanks! I had to laugh..our new neighbors are in awe. They're city people one and all, hire others to do everything, and have sat back and watched these two retirees revamp an entire home with their own hands and shaken their heads in complete amazement. Feels great to hve that kitchen, I've had dinner guests twice, cn finlly be unpacking's sooo cool!

Wonderful 12/25/11 yesterday..

Monday, December 26, 2011

Four different cultures around the table, four different countries represented, four different world religions, four different cuisines, joined by affection and understanding.laughter and tolernce. Fun, interesting, relaxing and special. If our family and friends can do it, why can't the world?

Busy busy..

Haven't written in my blog for quite the mentime, have gutted a kitchen, denuded 6 rooms and two baths of wallpaper of a hideous nature, removed nasty dusty carpet from 6 rooms and two baths, patched walls , primered, and have four rooms painted...two coats each plus primer. Flooring will start going in tody, if Dh nd YS re ready to roll. I am now proof positive of my own theory thaat exercise alone cannot promote sufficient wt. loss. I need to lose 9 lbs. I am physiclly busting, all wlking in the evening. i hve no time to snack, but am eating 3 generous meals a day. I do not eat junk cuz I don't like it. And I am not losing one ounce! Go figure..LOL!

Sanity gradully returning..

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Friend saw her psychiatrist today, and he will help. Her SO will return to the US in the next two weeks..we can do this..

Our grandchild is doing well..preliminry findings are for childhood OCD, not autism.

Closing is tomorrow morning on our new home. Finally, after endless hassle. I had reched a point where the excitement was lost in the angst of the process, but it's returning. Can't wait to get stated bringing this retro '70s place into the new millineum! Also can't wait to once again have my own house, with my DH and our dog..bliss. Maybe the decreased stress will help me lose the wt. I hve gained in recent months..10 lbs up from maintenance. Gah..

good luck to your friend therapy is a long laborious treatment but just going to see a psychiatrist is a good beginning. Congrats on your grandchild not being autistic that must have lifted heavy burden off your shoulders emoticon

Sounds like things are looking up for you and your friend. I am so glad to hear that your grandchild is doing well and that the diagnosis is NOT autism. We had a scare like that with our youngest daughter but again, it was not autism, she just liked to bang her head against the head of her crib lol.

If the decreased stress doesn't help you lose weight, I bet the moving into and fixing up your new house will. Just think of all the exercise you will get, stretching to paint, yard work, etc. Have tons of fun with your new place.
