Thanksgiving 5K RunMonday, November 02, 2009
My newest addiction is running outdoors. It is a hard exercise to keep on top of, especially since the temperatures are getting much lower in the Northern states where I live. To focus on the goal of a healthy lifestyle, I have decided that my husband (aka my running partner) and I are going to have a 5K run this year on Thanksgiving morning - sun, rain, or buckets of snow. We are now in training for the holidays and are really excited about starting something that will keep us going. We are making up a few cute posters to place on the fridge and for our front door. We walk past these two things the most so it is the perfect motivational for the future month to get ready. ![]()

How fun! What a great way to motivate yourself during the Holidays. As to a prize for the winner, hmmm, well you could do something like the winner gets a massage from the loser or gets to plan the day and the loser has to do whatever the winner wants for the entire day. Good luck & have fun! Cyndi Report Inappropriate Comment |

Good luck on the 5K! My first Turkey Trot was last year and like you, I'm going to do this years come rain or snow. It sure makes me feel less guilty about overeating on Thanksgiving. Comment edited on: 11/2/2009 11:14:33 AM Report Inappropriate Comment |

The winner has to wash the dishes??? That way he'll want you to win and you probably wash the dishes anyway! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Each year there is always this nagging feeling that the leftover candy must be eaten. Thankfully I do not care for chocolate (I know, gasp) but other sugary, calorie filled candy I do. So, my plan that I have kept to for the last few years is to:
1. The last child that comes to my door, I tend to throw in the entire stash of candy. The child is more than thrilled and I get rid of the candy. This only works if there are children though.
2. Package all the candy up and sending it with my husband to his work. He needs to gain a few pounds so he can eat some at work and I am safe from the temptation.
3. Some years I do not purchase candy but get little treats such as packages of stickers, rings or little toys. This is great for my temptations and also for the children, why help increase obesity in children. It is guaranteed that I will not eat the treats and leftovers will go to my thrilled nieces. It's a win-win situation!
Happy Halloween Everyone!

Great ideas. If we get candy this year, it's going to my DH's office. Not that he needs it, he just has a larger office and it's out of my reach. Cyndi Report Inappropriate Comment |

My stepson is in Iraq. We will be shipping any extra halloween candy to him to share with his friends over there. (We've already sent him some, but I figure this is the easiest way to get rid of the rest!)

My family is in shock that I did not buy Halloween candy this year. We never get trick or treaters. My driveway is too long and scary for most people to attempt it. So I didn't buy any. Even my hubby said that it didn't seem like Halloween this year. Oh well. They will get over it! I did think about getting the little toy surprises for my niece and for my best friend's kids. But I just decided to for go treats of any kind this year. Report Inappropriate Comment |
