Finally a Run...

Today I finally got myself back into the swing of running, well at least I started. I've wanted to get back into things for the last month or two but it's been so crazy with the Hawaii trip and then the soon to be move to VA. I took Island Sharon's suggestion with planning out a schedule and just making sure everyone knows about it to assure I get my workout in. Today I made sure I went ahead and run outside at around 3PM, my normal daily schedule before I went on a hiatus from it. It had just rained and the moisture in the air was unbelievable! But it was still the best run ever since it was the first time at it again. It's always hard to get back into it but always nice nonetheless. Two miles in around 25 minutes wasn't the best time but it was hot outside and very hilly. Where did these hills come from in my hometown? haha Eyes are truly opened when you start running aren't they?

Food, much better today but still could be doing better. We went to our local farmers market and got some more fresh veg and apples. Hooray! I love being about 5 miles from a local farmer and their family-run farm stand. It's perfect!

Fun Friday

Hello Everyone! Twice in one week, impressed, I know... We are still living the life of the "homeless" lifestyle at my parents house in Michigan. Today is our one week countdown before we make the official move to VA! Hooray! It's been one week since I left OH and a few days since we moved our things into storage. As an update, we finally sent in our request for an extended stay hotel of two choices to our relocation company. Feels so good to finally have two options for a hotel for about a month. Just in case you didn't know, we are moving into a hotel for about one month before we get into a house. We also have a house that we have put in for and paid but are still awaiting the lease paperwork from our realtor. It's a small house with no garage but it is in a gated community that has a private gym for only $100 a year per person. Hopefully that's a good price, haven't had to pay for a gym in about five years. Thrilled to get in there in October though and start up. Our two hotel choices do have a private gym also, so thrilled to have this option to get started once we get down there.

As far as food, we are still eating vegan and trying to eat healthy. I do have to say though healthy options are hard to come by in my parents household. They do not eat on a three course meals a day - so it's hard to remember to keep to our schedule. I don't know how they survive on eating off schedule and the pre-packaged meals that they dine on daily. I can tell why their health is not optimal now. It just reminds me that I want to be healthy and lighter so that is pushing me to keep with my lifestyle and not falling into the healthy habits again of my juvenile years.

Exercise has been difficult too since I'm cleaning like a crazy lady lately. I've been trying to keep up on housework at my parents house even though no one else seems to care about sanitation. Maybe I'm just a clean freak, I do not know... haha But, I am making my husband and furry baby go out at least once a day for about a mile walk. I hope to start running again but with the stress I don't want to over do it. Hopefully we can get the lease papers on the house rental and just get everything setup finally to reduce stress.

What's your favorite exercise during stressful times?

    extra hard cleaning is exercise. It is about a month and you will be in your own house, that will be special. Do enjoy the time with your parents, but do the best you can with your eating and you never know it may improve your parent's diet.

Goodbye Ohio

So we did it, we moved out of our Ohio townhouse. It's a strange feeling to be in limbo between places but we are thankful we finally got everything packed up in Ohio and into storage for around a month or so. We have no idea how long because we are still waiting to hear if we got the house we put in for an application and paid $60 to get. (yep, you have to pay to put in an application that is non-refundable) Praying we get it so we don't have to worry as much.

Right now we are staying with my parents in Michigan before we drive down to Virginia, our new home state, in about a month. It's crazy moving, and incredible stressful. For now we are shutting off utilities and trying to get an extended hotel in VA. It would totally be nice to have family there so we wouldn't have to worry about all this craziness, but at least we are getting some support from my husband's new company. Just wish it were less difficult...

So, right now even though we are totally freaking out and stressing, I'm trying to get our lives back in order a little. I can't even remember the last time I ran but yesterday I made sure I took the furry baby out on a walk. We walked for maybe 30 minutes in total. Plus, I have been helping around my parents house with cleaning and other yard work for a little sweat session. Hoping to get back into exercise again once things settle down (such as those little butterflies in my stomach). Additionally I went to a local farmer to get some fresh vegetables for dinner last night for everyone, made a large grilled salad and homemade apple pie. Okay, so maybe the apple pie wasn't exactly that healthy but it was vegan and was made with apples from the Ohio farm. It's healthier than the other stuff they seem to eat in my family. I can't remember really but I don't believe my family ever ate as many pre-packaged snacks and meals as they do now. It's difficult being in my family house now (not only because of stress) but because they always have junk food sitting around the house. It's temptation house! But so far I haven't done too bad...

My question is: What do you do when you are moving and there is a lot of stress? We want to keep healthy even if our bodies are taking a slam due to the stress. Suggestions?

    Moving is stupidly stressful. I hope you get the house lickety split.
When I moved my packaged-food-loving-parents from Buffalo to Indiana a few years ago, I did my best with what they ate, but no matter what else we had to do, I had a very strict exercise schedule that everyone knew they weren't allowed to mess with. Because we were moving, I think I focused on yoga and cardio but no ST. I don't know if any of that would work for you, but I remember how much it helped my sanity. I hope you keep yours!

I'm glad you got out for a walk, that had to have helped a little bit.
The last time I moved, I had injured my back (not from moving) and couldn't do much. I tried to take as many walks as I could, though.

    I feel your stress, I'm trying to make a move from FL to CA. Lining up an apartment, moving stuff and getting myself and my two cats out there is stressful. I'd say eat as healthy as you can and get as much exercise as you can to keep the stress down.

Back from Hawaii and Moving!

Hello everyone! I'm so thrilled to be back online and here at Spark. I hope all of you have stuck with me and will continue to cheer me on through my weight loss journey. It's been very stressful the last few months as my husband has had two companies urging him to work for them. While it's a blessing and we're incredibly thankful, it is stressful trying to decide which one to go for since they are on different parts of the nation. One was in California, which I have always wanted to move to ever since I was young. The second one was in Virginia, a place we have visited and enjoyed. My husband finally after months of hectic conversations and mulling over which one to chose finally chose right before we went to Hawaii. In Hawaii, my Japanese sister got married and we had a wonderful time celebrating with my Japanese family and new "in-laws". When we got back, my husband finally sent out a signed contract and now we are moving to VA. Right now we are having numerous problems trying to find a rental house that is a nice quality but not over priced. Apparently the realtors we talked to said that there was a million available last month and this month there is nothing. Even the towhouse and apartments are all taken up - never even heard of that, yikes!

So, that's my life in a small paragraph as of this summer. We haven't had much of a summer let alone have I been working out like normal for this time of year. But, I am hoping if we can find a house and finally move (which has to be done by the 31st of this month), I will be less stressed and my headaches will go away.

I hope everyone will stick with it through my non-correspondence, I cherish everyone's support through it all. Plus, I can't wait to read what I have been missing with all of you. For now though, I'm off to run in the sunshine before it gets cold again.

  August is a hard time because college students take up a lot of rentals but you will find something. Its great that all these new and exciting things are going on in your life though. Change is great. Best of luck! emoticon

Strong Thursday

Today has been a challenge over myself and struggles with the weight scale. I woke up this morning to check my weight. Yeah, I do it everyday but it's more of a motivational thing instead of personal torture (well, most of the time). This morning it hit me hard though seeing that I had gained another pound this week! That's about 5-6 pounds in the last few months. And yes, my pants are a bit tighter... It's frustrating.... I've kept with my casual counting calories and also working out at least 3-5 times a week of moderate/intensive workouts.

At first I was really grouchy with the world and my poor husband... No one ever said a person that is trying to lose pounds is always the most pleasant to be around and my hubby got the grunt of it this morning. Poor guy. So, I pouted for a while this morning as I was getting some work done. Thankfully I got myself out of it and went to work out at the gym like normal. I ran more than I have in a few weeks seeing that I was so determined. Hopefully it's natural and okay to cater to my anger in such a way. (I used to abuse exercise to get rapid weight loss in college.) It felt great though to workout and run 5.5 miles. In fact I wanted to go more but unfortunately the gym was getting busy and I didn't want to hoard the treadmill. I then lifted weights, lunges, situps and etc for about 25 minutes. Finally I went home with a smile on my face.

What do you all do with your anger at the weight scale?
