So sad! We ordered running shoes online, two pairs in total. We got them overnight, which we were thrilled about since it was our first time doing so this website. Apparently they want you to be impressed the first time so they send everything overnight by FedEx. We got the shoes, jumping at the poor delivery guy. My husband loves his shoes - he got the Mizuno Red Limited Edition Wave Inspire 15- I think that's the name of them. Mine, I order the new Asics GEl Noosa Tri-7 in multi-color. They even glow in the dark which will be exciting on those nights when we run longer than the sun stays up.
Only problem: the website states to order 1/2 up on all running shoes. My husband and I have never had a problem with the sizes being off, so we ordered the exact size of our foot. My husband's worked out. Unfortunately mine were way too big. So, that left us calling the company twice to get everything sorted out. We actually had to order a new smaller pair and then send the others back for a refund. (I'm hoping it's a full refund like they state on their site.) It's a little stressing to have to go through the whole process. Thank goodness though it was our first time, so the representative gave us free shipping back. They charge an alarming $10 for shipping fees - a little pricy in my opinion. I would actually prefer to purchase on Amazon or in a store I think. But I guess if you know exactly what you want, it's easier. Testing things in the store first and then ordering online.
So, instead of my overnight shipping (we got the VIP membership), I have to wait until Tuesday! Yikes! The customer service representative stated 3-5 days but unfortunately that's 7 from when they shipped it out yesterday.
I'm a little impatient as you can tell since my husband already has his running shoes waiting. but since there is nothing I can do, I guess I have to wait. The hardest thing for me...

I'm still resting my foot today but thank goodness it doesn't really hurt when I put pressure on it for a short period. It is still scaring me a little so I am trying to stay off it and just slowly reintroduce it to walking to see how it goes. I hope I can at least get some yoga in tonight for a workout since I can't run still. I listened to NatPlummer and iced my foot three times yesterday and then wrapped it the rest of the time with tape and an ace bandage. Today I took everything off it to test the waters. It feels strange because it is naked but I'm guessing that is because there is less pressure on it.
Warning you are going to think I'm crazy, but, It's exciting to think this is my first official runner's injury. Does that mean I get my "runner's membership"?
As far as eating, I didn't do as good as I wanted. I felt like I was snacking the entire day. Grrr I stayed within reach of my calories, amazingly but I was eating nonstop. I have issues with snacking too much, so I try to keep them to a minimum but it didn't work out today very well.
Breakfast: Something new to my routine. Natural Grits made with water, a little vegan butter, and some nutritional yeast. A some fruit on the side (see my daily eats on the main page)
Snack: Jazz Apple and a herbal tea (not a English tea - skipped the sugar today)
Lunch: Leftovers galore in our household so I had a little leftover Vegan Mac-n-Cheese, Vegan Moussaka (thanks hubby ) and part of a homemade whole wheat pita.
Snack: Zevia Black Cherry and a bunch (gasp!) of Sorghum Popped Grain
Dinner: Crockpot Pasta Fagioli - veganized by me and a whole wheat pita.
Snack: No popcorn today - we are trying to kick that habit. So we "shared" a jazz apple (ate one slice and then there was only one slice left when I went for the second. haha) And 3/4 of a clementine. I was stuffed so couldn't finish that off and the hubby was kind enough to finish the job.
Not only is the furry pooch getting bored but also the furry cat. haha She stole Keelas' puppy pillow and claimed it as hers yesterday.

Today I have what I like to call "irritable syndrome". It's not from an outside force but rather that this is day 2 that I have to keep off my sore foot. I know there could be much worse things than not being able to run for a few days but still it's really getting to me by being held hostage in my house since I live and work here. But, I'm trying with all my might to RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) my sore foot. I'm not sure how often I should ice though, suggestions? At least I have figured out how to stick my Hello Kitty Ice Pack up my slipper to keep it there for 30 minutes at a time without having to hold it with a bandage.
So, I have not been the best at eating healthy because I'm so irritable. Yesterday's Meals:
Breakfast: My normal Oatmeal Mixture
Lunch: Leftover Vegan Mac-n-Chreese with peas and a tomato mixture with tvp
Snack: Zevia Black Cherry
Dinner: Two kinds of vegan burgers (I was testing stuff for my blog). Freekeh Burgers and Lentil, Quinoa, Sweet Potato Burgers. Then I also made homemade whole wheat hamburger buns. I had my Freekeh burger on a large organic salad, no dressing. For Dessert (husband only since I don't like hot fruit) Homemade Peach Cobbler.
Snack: I was bad and had two Golden Oreos (husband brought them home- grrr) and more pretzel sticks that I wish I hadn't had..
On a plus note, here's something I found the other day as we were walking on a puppy trot.

Oh my! I can't believe it has been about 6 days since I actually blogged here. The weather has been amazing and I have been taking advantage of it. I've been running over 6 miles about 3-5 days a week. It's great! Last night I even made a PR on my 5K, and with a sore right foot. On a plus note, I think I found a pair of running shoes that totally scream me. Hooray! I'll keep you updated when I actually purchase a pair. I haven't made a final decision but am getting close. It's so funny that two years ago I would just pick whichever one looked cute but now I'm looking for practical and cute! Thank goodness name brand companies are making running shoes in different colors, finally.
I've been eating about 90% fresh fruits and vegetables with 10% other miscellaneous. Everything has been 100% vegan. I've been taking photos to share with you but have been lazy and not showing you. Here are some examples:
Eating Out at the Flaming Ice Cube: Vegan Burger with a side of Black Bean/Corn Salad
Popped Sorghum Snack:
Mushroom & Mixed Greens Steamed over brown Rice w/ Steamed Side Carrots, kimchi rice and 1 umeboshi Dinner:
Flour-less Chocolate Chip Cookies Snack:
Steamed Mushrooms with Steamed Chard, Kale and Mustard Greens, Liquid Smoke October beans, and Brown Rice Dinner:
Banana "ice cream" (pureed frozen bananas) with a few sprinkles (shared with husband):
Homemade Pumpkin Spice Bread: (seriously, you can make your own too- there's no excuse available unless you don't have an oven)

Today it was sunny with only a light overcast at times. It was amazing to think it is still January, at least for a few more hours and we had a day of 60 degrees! Gorgeous! I'm still beaming with the Vitamin D my body stole from the sunshine rays today. The pooch and I went on two walks, when did the sun start getting up before 9AM? Then the husband and I actually got out and ran, well he had to bike because he has a knee pain that he fears will come back. Hehe, he just thinks about it and it hurts. (A little crazy but hey he has to be if married to me...)
Pictures to come tomorrow! For now I'm serving the hubby (hope he doesn't get too used to being served - oops) Wheat-Free, Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
Today I ate better and my headache was mostly gone. Thank goodness! Sometimes just waiting it out and eating healthy works best. My left leg is still hurting in one muscle. Sorry Shanti66, I have no idea what yoga muscle it was that made my leg hurt, it was just a guess. If I knew though, I would definitely be coming to you for advice. Sounds great, restorative yoga - how rewarding! On the bright side, my right ankle is feeling better after the rest. Hooray! I managed to push through the leg pain and run over 6 miles. I have to get the exact time and distance from the watch still.
Hope everyone is doing great! I appreciate all the lovely comments from everyone. They really make me smile.
