Today I'm trying to get back into the start of things again. It's difficult jumping back into things again but I know it's necessary to count calories for a while. Last week was very difficult (
5/animal-shelter-theft/) so I let my emotions get ahead of everything else going on in my life. But, I know through the last two years I have to fight against the outside world and use my workout to reduce stress.

    Sometimes stress gets the better of us. It is totally understandable in this case.

There is just something about sunshine that makes a person want to get out there and do a little more of a workout than is really needed. But then again can we really exercise too much? I took to the gym today and worked out for about 2 hours. I got home ate some dark vegan chocolate (I have hypoglycemia- aka low blood sugar levels) and was ready for more. Maybe I can get my husband out there again to have some fun tonight. Love the sunshine!

4 mile run
1 mile walk
5 mile bike
20 minutes weight lifting
30 situps

Stressed muscles + Cold!

Oh my oh my! I want to the gym again today since my husband was busy again. I hate to say it but I love it when he has to work a little longer and I have a little free time to exercise in the gym. Only problem, the temperature is VERY COLD! emoticon It was actually 53F inside! The windows were fogging over and was freezing compared to outside.

But, the weather was threatening rain again. Actually I'm not sure if it ever stopped raining today. haha I love these types of days because I'm allowed to sit and read a little while the weather is drizzling outside. It's very peaceful - plus everything turns green after. It does make me a bit tired though. I had a hard time getting myself to get out of the house to workout. I fought with myself - fingers were waving and everything. emoticon

I managed to win against myself and got to the gym. Running was around 44 minutes and 4 miles in total. Weight lifting for about 10-15 minutes using more weights than normal. I even did 35 pounds behind my head - hooray! I did 30 minutes on the bike going 5 miles as a cool-down. Then I walked to and from the gym which is around .33 one-way. I did okay - just over 300 calories burnt for about 2 hours exercise.

Eating was better today because my stomach muscles have been in real pain. I'm not sure if it has been the food choices lately or the increased exercise routine. But, my stomach has hurt walking, sitting, breathing and so on. So, I have been watching my meals to assure that healthy, whole foods are going in along with a reduction in sugar and fat content. It seems to be helping my muscles. I'll let you all know.

Cooler Weather

Finally cooler weather yesterday, husband was much happier. I thank all of you for your comments about me getting out without him. Thankfully I'm blessed with an exercise partner - along with a partnership in life. That means we work together with everything and don't leave the other one behind. ^_^ Guess that means we put each others' feelings ahead of just about everything, hooray! We encourage each other but never push one another over the limit when it comes to someone's overall health. I've learned this after being exercise-addicted for a few years. It's probably part of the process of finding ones' self through a new lifestyle change.

So, last night we were able to get out and run 5k. It wasn't the fastest run at 33 minutes but it was nice to get back out. We then walked 5k back home - in the high 80's with a strong wind. In addition, I took two walks throughout the day before and in the middle of work. We chose to go ahead and run outside instead of inside (we have a gym) because going in and out of AC is actually extremely hard on the body. (I get migraines from the temp changes.) It was nice to sweat for another reason than just the high temperatures. haha

Meals were great today! I had some processed vegan approved cookies but that's okay because I was within all my ranges.
Bkfst: Cold Oatmeal with Chiaseeds & Fresh, locally grown Peach & coffee
Snack: Grapes

Lunch: Leftover Better Burger from Vegan Vittles (potato shown but didn't eat)

Snack: Grapes
Dinner: Japanese Banbanji & cherry tomatoes

Snack: Oreos & a few chips from Philippines & cup of tea

    I have a hard time getting Rob to work out in the afternoons too but he has a laborous job so he has an excuse! On Monday, I worked out while he cooked dinner and it actually worked out perfectly. We were happily fed and both showered by 6:00 (get off work at 3:30). We still had time to enjoy each other for the rest of the night! We are thinking about making it a regular thing. This might mean more basic dinners (since I'm the one that usually cooks) but he does a good job so that's ok with me!

    I'm glad you guys got your run in. If I waited for my husband, I'd never get my mid-week runs. He does come with me on the long weekend ones, though.
I wouldn't have been able to resist those tasty looking potatoes ;-)
Salt and vinegar is my favorite flavor of chips.

    Sounds like a good day! You and your hubby are lucky to have each other. I adore mine but his job doesn't leave him with energy to work out most days. So we hike on the weekend but the rest of the time it's all me. Ah well :)

Amazing Weather!

Isn't this amazing weather we are having lately? I mean, one day is hot/humid and in the 100's and then today it is around 70. So funny! It's supposed to get warmer this afternoon but still, what a climate change! Guess that's why they say it's the hottest summer for America already. It's not even the dog days of summer yet. Something to look forward to right?

This last weekend we ended up not exercising again. Grrr... I think I sweat enough though while cleaning the house, baking in 90 degrees and walking all around. Seems like we are only getting in around 2 days of good workouts a week lately. The husband has been so tired (which yes is an excuse) so we haven't been able to get out there and run. Giving him credit though he does work in AC and we tend to not use AC in the house (just a personal choice until it gets too hot that it has to come on). Today I'm hoping to get out there again and get started. I need so much encouragement to support two people. :)

    Sometimes just getting into my workout clothes is enough to push me to the gym. Is there somewhere near by you could work out without being so hot? Getting a few week long trial memberships at gyms might be a good way to beat the heat and still get your run in.

    Just because your husband is too tired to get out and run doesn't mean you couldn't go out and do it yourself. Maybe if he sees that you're raring to go, he'll be more inclined to join you.

    Hot, humid here too. Yesterday was a bit better and not so humid so spent 90 minutes in the outdoor pool walking back and forth and working arms. Have to work today, but hope to get to the pool by 5 when they have "adult" lap swim; I lap walk and sometimes do the water aerobics that are offered at that time. I hope you can get in your workouts as I know that it makes a person feel much better, even in this heat. Blessings!!
