Do you geocache?

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Good morning everyone! My husband and my sixth anniversary is in about a week and I have been so late in coming up with something special to do/get for this celebration in our marriage. We love our new lifestyle and are eager to continue to learn new and fun ways to be active and healthy. I was reading this wonderful website the other day whose life has been turned around also. She and her husband love to keep active, actually their lifestyle sounded a lot like ours. This couple loves to geocache. I've heard of geocaching once before but not until now was I really interested. But, my husband and I love hiking so I'm thinking it might be time to start geocaching for fun. I'm actually looking at the Garmin Hiking GPS systems that attach to a bike. I'm uncertain of it though since Garmin's can be a bit pricey (we already have the forerunner 450CX or whatever the #'s are and a car GPS) so I'm familiar with the price and but know about the quality.

My question: Does anyone have one of these systems? What about geocaching? I'd love to know more information.

I know people that geocache and love it. I've never done it. Do either of you have a smart phone? You could use that. Sorry I don't have more info!

20 milles to get cookies

Saturday, June 11, 2011

Okay, so I'm here to lose those last ten pounds and also get healthier.
Question is: Is it okay to bike ride 20 miles to buy two vegan cookies?

emoticonMy husband and I got our backpacks all ready after lunch for a nice afternoon bike ride together. We decided that we were going to take along some books and water and bike to our favorite vegan restaurant. Then we got on our way, road about 10 miles to get there. We were so thirsty that we purchased two cookies and no drinks. Our intention was to grab two vegan lattes, two cookies and then be on our way. So, essentially we biked for three hours just to get two cookies. So funny when I think about it.

Have any of you done this?

I like having a destination when I bike ride. Usually its ice cream. For the past 2 weeks, we've biked to get breakfast with a friend from another town but that is because we have to train for a 60 mile race! I am really liking it though and think we should keep it up even after the race! I would totally bike 20 miles for a cookie :)

I think that biking 20 miles warrents vegan cookies since you were both good and treated yourself without over induldging! Good luck with the last ten!

Motivation

Thursday, June 09, 2011

I found this lovely quote today and just had to share it. There are times when I feel like I am not doing enough and that I need to find myself doing more for the better of myself. Motivation is one thing that really holds me back though. So, this really spoke to me:

Success isn't a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire. ~Arnold H. Glasow

Heat induced migraine

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

Wow! Heat Index stated 96F yesterday! That is insane! Normally I would love it however I had a migraine so the heat was nothing to be rejoicing over. I believe the pressure and heat made my migraine since normally I do not get them. My body is still not used to the change seeing that it is warm one day and cold the next. Very confusing Mother Nature!

I'm thankful my headache is getting better and that I'm able to move around again without getting sick. Hooray!

Last night I was feeling better and made dinner for the husband. It was a traditional Japanese Soba dinner - made with vegan sauce instead of original one. Note: I just reuse the original non-vegan bottle with my own homemade sauce.
